Naruto Shippuden Episodes 1–500
Five hundred episodes, one war-sized sequel, and enough flashbacks to make even the dead request a recap. This directory keeps the full broadcast road in order while separating manga story, anime-original material, and the episodes worth choosing on purpose.
How to use this directory
Start with the full road when you want the complete television experience. Use the story filter when you need the manga spine, then return for anime-original arcs that add character, politics, comedy, or consequences the main plot did not have room to hold.
The status labels describe adaptation origin, not automatic quality. “Filler” means anime-original, not worthless. CVM Sekai will still tell you when an original episode earns its chair and when it is borrowing yours without asking.

Homecoming
Shippuden opens on a future Team 7 reunion, then backs up to Naruto returning to Konoha after two and a half years with Jiraiya. Konohamaru is now a genin, Sakura is no longer the girl he left behind, and Kakashi receives the newest Icha Icha book like national intelligence just changed hands.
The premiere sells growth by putting old habits beside new bodies. Naruto still enters loudly, but the village is no longer frozen in the shape he remembers. The Sasuke flash-forward also refuses to let reunion comedy become denial. Home is warmer, and the missing teammate is still sitting inside every hug.

The Akatsuki Makes Its Move
Naruto learns that almost every member of his class has outranked him while Gaara has become Kazekage. At the same time, Sasori and Deidara enter the Sand through Yūra, an Akatsuki sleeper agent, and Kakashi orders Naruto and Sakura to repeat the bell test.
Two promotions happen at once: Gaara gains public office while Naruto discovers that travel did not pause everybody else’s life. That contrast is not humiliation for its own sake. It asks whether rank measures growth, and then lets an enemy organization demonstrate how easily institutions can be entered through compromised people.

The Results of Training
Naruto and Sakura begin the second bell test with sharper coordination, stronger bodies, and much less patience for Kakashi’s tricks. In the Sand, Deidara rides a clay bird above the village while Gaara rises to meet him as Kazekage and jinchūriki.
The episode crosscuts two definitions of readiness. Team 7 gets a controlled test with a teacher who wants them to succeed. Gaara gets an airborne terrorist over civilians he is responsible for protecting. Same generation, wildly different price tag.

The Jinchuriki of the Sand
Gaara and Deidara trade long-range attacks above Sunagakure while Naruto and Sakura exploit Kakashi’s one true weakness: spoilers for his beloved book. They take the bells as Gaara shields the village from Deidara’s explosives.
The bell victory is funny because it proves intelligence can beat spectacle. Gaara’s half of the episode removes the laugh track. Leadership means he cannot dodge freely when an entire village is beneath him. The title calls him a jinchūriki, but the action insists he is also a public shield.

The Kazekage Stands Tall
Gaara crushes Deidara’s arm and nearly traps him, but Deidara hides explosive clay inside the sand defense. When a massive bomb threatens the village, Gaara spends his remaining strength protecting everyone below and leaves himself open to capture.
This is the cost of finally belonging. Part I Gaara treated other lives as proof of his own existence. Kazekage Gaara chooses those lives over his body. The episode does not reward him immediately for becoming better. It makes that growth exploitable.

Mission Cleared
Deidara escapes Sunagakure carrying an unconscious Gaara. Kankurō pursues alone, only to meet Sasori and discover that courage cannot substitute for information, preparation, or an antidote to a master puppeteer’s poison.
“Mission cleared” belongs to Akatsuki, which is exactly why the title stings. Sand security has failed, the Kazekage is gone, and Kankurō’s love for his brother pushes him into a fight he is not equipped to survive. Good motives do not cancel tactical consequences.

Run, Kankuro
Kankurō battles Sasori with the puppets Sasori originally designed, then collapses after being poisoned. Before losing consciousness, he tears away a piece of Sasori’s clothing so the village will have something to track.
Kankurō loses the fight and still contributes evidence. That matters. Naruto often treats victory as the only useful outcome, but field work is messier. A poisoned body can still preserve the clue that lets somebody else continue the mission.

Team Kakashi, Deployed
Tsunade sends Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura toward the Sand while Team Guy prepares to support them. Sunagakure’s medics cannot identify Sasori’s poison, and Chiyo reacts to Kakashi’s face with grief sharpened into anger over his father’s war record.
The rescue begins inside institutional memory. Konoha and Sand are allies now, but Chiyo’s dead son and daughter-in-law did not become less dead when the paperwork changed. Cooperation has to work through injuries that diplomacy did not heal.

The Jinchuriki's Tears
Team Kakashi reaches Sunagakure as Kankurō nears death. Sakura studies the poison, stabilizes him, and begins creating an antidote while Naruto’s anger exposes how personally he understands Gaara’s abduction.
Sakura’s first major Shippuden flex is medical judgment, not a punch. She walks into a crisis older experts cannot solve and starts doing the work. Naruto brings empathy; Sakura turns skill into survival. The rescue needs both.

Sealing Jutsu: Nine Phantom Dragons
Akatsuki begins extracting Shukaku from Gaara through a multi-day sealing ritual. In the Sand, Sakura completes the first antidote dose and explains that Kankurō will need continued treatment, not one cinematic miracle.
The episode puts two uses of chakra beside each other. Akatsuki converts a person into harvested power. Sakura uses knowledge, control, and time to keep a person inside his body. One system treats vessels as inventory. The other treats care as labor.

The Medical Ninja's Student
Kankurō wakes, gives the rescuers the cloth fragment he took from Sasori, and learns that Sakura’s antidote bought him a future. Chiyo and Ebizō confront how much the younger generation has developed while Team Kakashi prepares to track Akatsuki.
“The medical ninja’s student” could reduce Sakura to Tsunade’s résumé. Instead, the episode shows what mentorship is supposed to do. Tsunade’s teaching becomes useful in a village she once fought, through a student making decisions under pressure.

The Retired Granny's Determination
Chiyo chooses to join Team Kakashi and confront Sasori, her grandson. Naruto rejects her fatalism about jinchūriki, while the Sand elders reveal how casually the hidden-village system has treated hosts as military tools.
Chiyo’s determination is not clean redemption. She helped build the logic that trapped Gaara, and now she has to walk toward its consequences. Naruto’s anger matters because he refuses the polite language that makes sacrificed children sound administratively necessary.

A Meeting With Destiny
Team Kakashi and Chiyo pursue Akatsuki while Team Guy moves to support them. Itachi appears in their path, forcing Naruto to face an enemy tied directly to Sasuke, his promises, and his unfinished sense of failure.
Destiny here is less mystical than relational. Naruto cannot see Itachi without seeing Sasuke, and Akatsuki knows that emotional history can be used like terrain. The ambush targets attention before it targets the body.

Naruto's Growth
Itachi traps Naruto in genjutsu and exploits images of Sasuke and his friends, but Sakura and Chiyo help break the illusion. Elsewhere, Kisame confronts Team Guy and turns the support mission into another coordinated delay.
Naruto has more power, yet the old wound still opens on command. That is not a training failure. Technique can improve faster than grief. The important growth is that he now has teammates who recognize the trap and pull him back.

The Secret Weapon is Called....
Chiyo explains how teams should confront Sharingan genjutsu while Kakashi manages the real battle against Itachi. Team Guy struggles against Kisame’s water techniques, and the rescuers begin to realize Akatsuki is buying time rather than seeking a clean victory.
The “secret weapon” is information shared quickly enough to matter. Chiyo’s rule is not glamorous, but it turns survival knowledge into collective protection. Akatsuki wins minutes by forcing good people to spend bodies and chakra on decoys.

The Secret of Jinchuriki
The sealing ritual continues as Naruto’s group breaks through Itachi’s resistance and Team Guy corners Kisame. The enemies are revealed as sacrificed substitutes controlled through Akatsuki techniques, not the original members themselves.
Akatsuki outsources risk all the way down to the face. The organization keeps its stars safe by consuming lesser bodies, which tells us exactly how its hierarchy values labor. Even its decoys are people who pay the bill.

The Death of Gaara!
The extraction of Shukaku is completed, and Gaara dies. Team Kakashi reaches the hideout too late to stop the ritual, while Naruto confronts the result he has feared since learning another jinchūriki existed.
The title does not pretend capture is a cliffhanger forever. Gaara’s political office, new bonds, and personal growth do not protect him from a system designed to remove the power inside him. Akatsuki turns a person into an emptied resource.

Charge Tactic! Button Hook Entry!!
Team Kakashi and Team Guy reach the sealed hideout, but a five-part barrier forces Team Guy to split up and remove tags placed across the region. Each member then faces a copy built from their own abilities.
The rescue mission becomes an argument about distributed labor. Nobody gets to be “the backup” when the barrier requires simultaneous action. Akatsuki’s trap also weaponizes self-knowledge: the obstacle is literally your own skill without your fatigue.

Traps Activate! Team Guy's Enemy
Team Guy battles duplicate versions of itself while Sakura and Chiyo enter the hideout. Deidara takes Gaara’s body to draw Naruto and Kakashi away, leaving Sasori to face the two women.
This split is deliberate labor sorting. Naruto chases the body because grief makes stillness impossible. Sakura stays with the living strategist who can actually explain Sasori. Neither path is emotionally neutral, and both can kill them.

Hiruko vs. Two Kunoichi!
Sakura and Chiyo confront Hiruko, Sasori’s armored puppet shell. Chiyo controls Sakura’s movement with chakra threads so Sakura can evade poison and smash through the defense protecting Sasori’s real face.
Calling Sakura “Chiyo’s puppet” misses the cooperation. Sakura supplies strength, trust, and the willingness to enter lethal range. Chiyo supplies timing and knowledge. Their bodies become one temporary combat system without erasing either woman’s agency.

Sasori's Real Face
Sasori emerges from Hiruko looking impossibly young and reveals that his own body has not aged normally. Chiyo recognizes the grandson she lost inside the weapon maker he chose to become.
The real face is emotionally worse than the monster shell. Sasori preserved youth by abandoning ordinary embodiment, but he did not preserve innocence. Looking like the child Chiyo remembers does not cancel the adult choices standing in front of her.

Chiyo's Secret Skills
Sasori summons the Third Kazekage puppet and uses Iron Sand, turning a murdered leader’s body and bloodline ability into equipment. Chiyo counters with her own puppets while Sakura keeps studying the attack pattern.
Sasori’s art is theft made durable. He does not only kill powerful people; he converts their identities into inventory. The puppet keeps the Kazekage’s value while deleting his consent, which is Akatsuki economics in miniature.

Father and Mother
Chiyo brings out the puppets modeled after Sasori’s parents, and Sasori answers with the Third Kazekage. Sakura learns how much grief shaped his early puppetry while the battle keeps forcing that childhood memory into present violence.
The parent puppets are heartbreaking because they began as a child’s attempt to make absence hold him. The episode does not claim grief caused every later crime. It shows the first coping mechanism, then makes us watch what Sasori chose to build from it.

The Third Kazekage
The Third Kazekage puppet releases a vast Iron Sand technique that limits movement and threatens poison with every strike. Sakura reads the pattern, protects Chiyo, and destroys the puppet through timing and controlled strength.
Sakura’s growth is not “she punches harder now.” She diagnoses space, poison, rhythm, and risk before committing force. The impact is the receipt, not the whole skill set.

Three Minutes Between Life and Death
Sakura reveals that she prepared antidotes and has temporarily neutralized Sasori’s poison. Sasori exposes his puppet body and attacks with fire and pressurized water while Naruto and Kakashi continue pursuing Deidara.
The three-minute limit puts a clock on competence. Sakura solved the poison, but medicine does not erase resource limits. Sasori built his body to keep changing weapons; she has to keep making correct decisions while the antidote expires.

Puppet Fight: 10 vs. 100!
Sasori unleashes one hundred puppets, and Chiyo answers with the ten masterworks of her collection. Sakura joins the swarm directly, Chiyo is poisoned, and Sasori escapes a sealing attempt by transferring his living core into another body.
The numbers sound like spectacle, but the real horror is scale without people. Sasori commands bodies emptied into tools. Chiyo’s smaller force depends on mastery and relationship. Sakura remains the human variable neither collection can fully predict.

Impossible Dream
Chiyo gives Sakura the antidote, then turns the parent puppets against Sasori when he attacks. Sasori allows the blades to pierce his core, leaves intelligence about an Orochimaru spy, and dies after Chiyo uses her life-transfer technique to stabilize Sakura.
Sasori’s “granted dream” is a final embrace built from wood, steel, memory, and choices he refuses to undo. The scene explains the wound without laundering the crimes. Chiyo survives this transfer because Sakura is not yet dead, which quietly establishes the exact cost before Gaara needs it.

Beasts: Alive Again!
Team Guy remains trapped against copies that match their earlier strength. Lee realizes the answer is not a secret weakness but growth during the fight, and the team pushes beyond the level the barrier recorded when the tags were removed.
Yes, “be stronger than you were five minutes ago” sounds like motivational merchandise. Here it works because the doubles are fixed snapshots. Team Guy wins by proving a person is not a frozen stat sheet, especially when comrades give the effort a reason.

Kakashi Enlightened!
Kakashi reveals Kamui and struggles to focus the Mangekyō Sharingan on Deidara while Naruto pursues Gaara’s body. Deidara provokes Naruto until Nine-Tails chakra begins breaking through his control.
Kakashi’s new technique bends space, but the emotional danger is much more ordinary. Deidara keeps treating Gaara like cargo because he knows Naruto cannot hear that language without hearing what every village called both boys. Rage narrows the rescue into a personal trigger.

Aesthetics of an Instant
Naruto loses control under the Nine-Tails’ chakra, forcing Kakashi to use the suppression tag Jiraiya entrusted to him. Deidara detonates a clay duplicate of himself, and Kakashi sends the explosion away with Kamui before it can consume the teams.
The episode pairs two dangerous powers that hurt their users. Naruto’s body becomes a battleground for the fox. Kakashi’s eye drains him nearly unconscious. Power is not free just because the animation makes it gorgeous.

The Legacy
Chiyo begins transferring her life to Gaara, and Naruto adds chakra when her reserves fail. She completes the technique knowing it will kill her, returning Gaara to life as Sand shinobi gather around their Kazekage.
Chiyo’s sacrifice is not a magical apology button. It is one final material act after a lifetime spent inside systems that weaponized children. Naruto helping matters because the jinchūriki those systems dismissed becomes the energy that lets another host come home.

Return of the Kazekage
Gaara wakes surrounded by people who came for him. Sunagakure mourns Chiyo, Team Kakashi departs, Deidara survives, and Tobi appears beside Zetsu while searching Sasori’s remains for the ring needed to join Akatsuki.
The return of the Kazekage finishes Gaara’s Part I argument. He wanted proof that he existed and receives a whole village waiting for his eyes to open. Then Tobi enters clowning beside a corpse, because Akatsuki never lets grief stop recruitment.

The New Target
With Sasori dead and Kakashi hospitalized, Konoha needs a new team captain and a replacement for Sasuke. Danzō places Sai on the mission, Tsunade appoints Yamato, and Naruto immediately rejects the idea that anybody can fill Sasuke’s place.
“New target” means Orochimaru’s spy, but it also means Team 7 itself. Danzō is not sending Sai to heal a friendship. He is placing Root inside Tsunade’s team. Naruto feels the substitution as betrayal before he understands the political trap underneath it.

Formation! New Team Kakashi!
Naruto and Sakura meet Sai, whose blank politeness and cruel remarks about Sasuke ignite an immediate fight. Yamato introduces himself as captain and makes clear that the re-formed Team Kakashi will function whether its members like one another or not.
A team cannot be assembled by putting four names on a mission sheet and hoping trauma becomes synergy. Sai has been trained to provoke without revealing himself. Naruto and Sakura have been trained by loss to hear every insult as a threat to Sasuke. Yamato inherits the emotional demolition site.

An Unnecessary Addition
Yamato tests the new group and restrains Naruto, Sakura, and Sai with Wood Release when their conflict overwhelms the mission. He explains the Tenchi Bridge objective and insists that personal hostility cannot be allowed to sabotage the chance to find Orochimaru’s spy.
Yamato’s terrifying face is funny, but his authority is not decorative. He can physically contain Naruto in ways Kakashi cannot, and Tsunade chose him for that reason. Leadership here begins with acknowledging that the team’s internal danger is part of the mission plan.

The Fake Smile
The team travels toward Tenchi Bridge while Naruto and Sai continue fighting over Sasuke. Yamato creates a Wood Release shelter and orders them to spend the night together, forcing proximity where avoidance would be easier.
The false smile belongs to Sai, but everybody is performing. Naruto acts as if anger is simpler than grief. Sakura acts as if control means she is fine. Yamato builds a house in minutes and still cannot build trust for them. That part requires participation.

Untitled
Sai studies friendship manuals and attempts conversation like a person assembling intimacy from instructions. His insulting nicknames fail badly, while Sakura and Naruto begin noticing the gap between his practiced smile and his actual understanding.
Sai is funny because the book advice is painfully literal. He is sad because Root made literal instruction necessary. Social ignorance is not proof that he lacks humanity. It is evidence that somebody trained ordinary relationship skills out of him.

Simulation
Yamato explains the plan to impersonate Sasori and meet the spy alone while the others remain concealed. The team rehearses signals, positions, and contingencies as Sai’s private orders continue to sit outside the mission everyone else thinks they are sharing.
Simulation cannot remove betrayal, but it can keep betrayal from becoming pure chaos. Yamato treats preparation as care. Danzō treats preparation as leverage. Same administrative skill, completely different idea of what teammates are for.

The Tenchi Bridge
At Tenchi Bridge, Yamato arrives disguised as Sasori and meets the spy, revealed to be Kabuto. Orochimaru interrupts the exchange, exposing the disguise and turning an intelligence capture into an open confrontation.
Kabuto’s identity is a reminder that espionage runs on people who can belong convincingly to several systems at once. The bridge is supposed to connect Team 7 to Sasuke. Instead, it connects every lie in the operation and drops Orochimaru in the middle.

The Nine-Tails Unleashed
Naruto confronts Orochimaru and quickly draws on the Nine-Tails as Sasuke’s name is used to provoke him. Yamato remembers Jiraiya’s warning about the fourth tail while Sakura and Sai struggle to follow a fight already exceeding normal mission parameters.
The Nine-Tails is “unleashed” because Naruto’s grief has a target. Orochimaru understands that and pokes the wound on purpose. Anger feels like action, but the fox’s chakra begins removing Naruto from the rescue he wants most.

The Top-Secret Mission Begins
Naruto reaches four tails and loses his recognizable human form. Orochimaru tests the transformation with snake techniques and his Kusanagi blade while Yamato prepares to suppress the chakra before Naruto destroys himself and everyone nearby.
The top-secret mission starts while the loudest battle consumes attention. Sai uses the chaos to approach Orochimaru because Danzō’s order was never identical to Team 7’s goal. This is how institutions hide agendas: not with silence alone, but with a bigger emergency in the foreground.

Orochimaru vs. Jinchuriki
Orochimaru survives Naruto’s attacks through repeated bodily replacement while Naruto’s corrosive chakra tears his own skin. Sai makes contact with Orochimaru, and Sakura rushes toward Naruto despite Yamato’s warning.
The battle looks like two monsters, but only one participant chose the experiment. Orochimaru treats bodies as disposable shells. Naruto’s body pays for power he cannot consciously direct. The visual symmetry should not erase the ethical difference.

Sakura's Tears
Sakura approaches the four-tailed Naruto and is struck by his chakra arm, leaving her badly wounded. Yamato suppresses the Nine-Tails with Wood Release and the First Hokage’s necklace, then begins treating the immediate damage.
Sakura’s tears are not romantic decoration. She is watching Naruto destroy himself for a promise tied to her grief, and then his body injures hers without recognizing her. Love does not make proximity safe when a person has lost control.

The Secret of the Battle!
Naruto wakes without remembering the transformation or Sakura’s injury. Kabuto heals Sakura enough to keep the chase moving, claiming Team 7 may still be useful against Akatsuki, while Yamato allows Naruto to believe Orochimaru caused her wound.
The lie protects Naruto’s focus in the moment and steals informed responsibility from him. Everybody around the jinchūriki keeps deciding which truth he can handle. The pattern is understandable, familiar, and still a problem.

The Consequences of Betrayal
Yamato reveals to Sakura that Naruto injured her and warns that the Nine-Tails’ power is not a safe shortcut to Sasuke. Sai leaves with Orochimaru and Kabuto, carrying Danzō’s letter into the enemy hideout.
Betrayal has several layers here. Sai appears to betray the team, Danzō has already betrayed Tsunade’s mission, and the adults around Naruto are managing his memory for him. The episode asks which secrecy serves survival and which secrecy serves control.

The Unfinished Page
Team 7 tracks Sai to Orochimaru’s hideout while Yamato explains that Sai’s real mission may involve a deal between Danzō and Orochimaru. Inside, Sai presents Danzō’s proposal and keeps his emotional distance from the people he has traveled beside.
The unfinished page in Sai’s picture book becomes more honest than his smile. He can execute Root’s order, but he cannot finish the story connecting himself to his brother. Danzō trained function. Grief kept a private language alive.

Infiltration: The Den of the Snake!
Sai speaks with Naruto about Sasuke and cannot understand why Naruto risks so much for someone who left willingly. Naruto answers that the bond matters precisely because abandoning it would mean abandoning part of himself.
Naruto’s explanation is moving and dangerous. Loyalty gives him endurance, but it can also turn another person’s refusal into a challenge he believes he must outlast. Sai hears devotion for the first time; the story still needs to keep consent in the room.

Bonds
Yamato, Naruto, and Sakura infiltrate the hideout while Sai receives a kill order targeting Sasuke. Kabuto discovers the intruders, and the underground corridors turn the search into a series of separated choices.
Bonds are the question because every character defines them differently. Naruto treats a bond as a promise that survives distance. Danzō treats it as a vulnerability to remove. Orochimaru treats it as ownership. Sai has to decide which definition will shape his next action.

Something Important...
Sai locates Sasuke but hesitates instead of carrying out the assassination. Naruto and Sakura find Sai’s book, recognize the unfinished image of two brothers, and begin to understand that his emotional blankness has a history.
Something important is not the same thing as something sentimental. Sai’s book is evidence of a self Root failed to erase. Naruto and Sakura stop treating him only as an obstacle once they can read the loss beneath his behavior.

The Picture Book's Story
Sai turns against Kabuto, helps restrain him, and admits that Naruto’s commitment to Sasuke reminded him of his own brother. The team reunites and moves toward Sasuke’s room with a shared objective for the first time.
The picture book’s story is completed through action, not a speech about friendship. Sai chooses people over Danzō’s secret order. That does not instantly repair trust, but it is the first decision that belongs to the person beneath Root’s training.

Reunion
Sai asks Sasuke to return to Konoha and explains that he now wants to protect Naruto’s bond. Sasuke destroys the room, and Naruto and Sakura finally see him again after years of searching.
The reunion hurts because Sasuke is not frozen at the Valley of the End. Team 7 preserved the bond as memory; he has been actively rebuilding himself around hatred. Finding him does not mean finding the version they hoped to rescue.

The Power of Uchiha
Sasuke overwhelms the team with speed and lightning, enters Naruto’s inner space, suppresses the Nine-Tails, and rejects the name Madara when the fox recognizes his chakra. Yamato’s restraints offer little control over the encounter.
“Uchiha’s power” is not only technique. Sasuke controls the room because everyone else arrived emotionally unprepared for how far he has chosen to go. Naruto refuses the fox’s offered power, a quiet correction after the bridge catastrophe, but restraint does not produce a victory.

Title
Sasuke prepares a larger technique, but Orochimaru stops him and leaves with Kabuto. Team 7 returns to Konoha without Sasuke, reports Danzō’s secret mission, and accepts Sai as a real teammate while Danzō notices his growing independence.
The title is literally “Title,” a joke that fits an episode about unfinished identities. The mission fails its stated rescue goal, yet Sai gains a name inside a chosen group. Naruto does not get Sasuke back. The team still becomes more human.

Nightmare
Naruto dreams of an attack on the Fire Temple while Sai studies friendship books and continues his disastrous nickname practice. Kakashi leaves the hospital and proposes a training method that can compress years of work through shadow clones.
This is a transition episode with receipts. Sai’s social learning stays awkward because recovery is not a switch. Kakashi’s training plan also turns Naruto’s signature excess into pedagogy. The child who makes too many copies may finally have found the problem that needs all of them.

Wind
Kakashi teaches chakra nature and shape transformation. Naruto discovers a wind affinity, Yamato demonstrates how water and earth combine into Wood Release, and hundreds of shadow clones begin cutting leaves so their accumulated experience can return to the original.
The wind reveal is less important than the learning design. Naruto has spent years being told his concentration is defective. Kakashi builds a method around the way Naruto actually works. Good teaching does not only demand discipline. It finds the door the student can use.

Writhe
Naruto consults Asuma about Wind Release and finally cuts a leaf in two, but border attacks interrupt the training. Team 7 is sent toward the Fire Temple while Asuma’s history as the Third Hokage’s son and former Guardian Shinobi begins moving into view.
The training pause is not wasted time. Naruto learns that technique lives inside relationships, including asking another person how they solved the same problem. Asuma’s quiet help also prepares the story to stop treating him as the man who only supervises Shikamaru’s cigarettes and strategy.

Robbed of Sleep
Team 7 investigates robbed graves near the Fire Temple and meets Sora, a young monk who attacks Naruto with Wind Release before Chiriku stops the fight. Naruto recognizes the temple from his nightmare, connecting the mission to danger he cannot yet explain.
The anime-original arc begins with stolen bodies and a child who fights like an accusation. Sora and Naruto are designed as irritants to each other because both recognize the same loneliness before either is ready to name it.

Loneliness
Naruto and Sora search for the missing coffins while their hostility keeps turning cooperation into competition. The grave robbers target former Guardian Shinobi, revealing that the stolen dead are tied to a political conflict around the Fire Daimyō and Konoha.
Desecrated graves make the arc’s argument literal. A political faction is not letting old loyalties remain buried. The dead become assets again because somebody still believes a past version of the country deserves another war.

A New Enemy
Team 7 and the Fire Temple monks pursue the grave robbers as Sora’s unusual chakra and anger become harder to ignore. Naruto keeps pushing for answers, partly because another lonely boy carrying dangerous power feels much too familiar.
Naruto’s empathy is rarely polite. He recognizes pain and immediately starts knocking on the locked door with his whole personality. That can be intrusive. It can also be the first time the person inside believes somebody intends to stay.

Impermanence
The search exposes more of the former Guardian Shinobi conflict and the plan to use stolen bodies. Sora struggles with the story he has been told about his father, while Team 7 learns that the mission is tied to factions arguing over whether Konoha should exist beside the Fire Daimyō.
The political question is not abstract when children inherit it as family identity. Sora is being asked to carry a dead adult’s grievance before he has enough truth to decide whether it belongs to him.

Contact
Naruto and Sora’s clash escalates as Sora’s chakra erupts with frightening force. Yamato contains the danger, and the team returns toward Konoha with a boy whose presence now looks less like a side mission and more like the center of the threat.
Contact is not automatically connection. Naruto wants similarity to produce trust, but Sora has learned that adults approach unusual power because they want to classify, control, or use it. The suspicion is exhausting and earned.

Teammate
Sora enters Konoha under supervision and struggles with the village, its shinobi, and Naruto’s peers. The social friction reveals how quickly unfamiliar behavior becomes evidence against a child already carrying a dangerous reputation.
Konoha is friendlier to Naruto now, which makes it easy to forget what the village looks like to the next inconvenient child. Sora walks into the same institution after Naruto has earned exceptions. He has not inherited the benefit of that progress.

The Two Kings
Asuma explains more of his time with the Twelve Guardian Ninja and the faction that wanted the Fire Daimyō to hold sole military authority. Sora’s father, Kazuma, belonged to that conflict, while the present conspiracy keeps shaping Sora’s choices.
Two kings, two institutions, and one country full of people expected to bleed for an argument about legitimacy. The shogi metaphor works because leaders discuss pieces. The episode is strongest when it remembers the pieces have families.

The Jet-Black Signal Fire
Sora’s resentment toward Konoha deepens as manipulated information about his father reaches him. Naruto tries to intervene, but the conspiracy is designed to make every offer of care look like proof of control.
The jet-black signal fire is distrust made visible. Once a child believes every adult is lying, even a true warning can sound like another cage locking. That is why secrecy has interest payments.

Lockdown of Darkness
The grave robbers move against Konoha, using the stolen Guardian Shinobi bodies and a barrier to isolate the village. Team 7 and Konoha’s defenders split across attacks while the conspiracy presents itself as political restoration.
Locking down darkness is not just tactical. The attackers want Konoha cut off from its own coordination, then claim that destruction will restore proper order. Authoritarian projects love calling isolation purity.

Revived Souls
Reanimated lightning users surround Konoha and generate a massive storm while separate defenders fight to break the technique. The village’s infrastructure and civilians become targets in a conflict sold as a correction to national politics.
Revived souls do not return as people here. They return as components. The arc keeps showing how ideology consumes bodies twice: first through loyalty in life, then through utility after death.

Everyone's Struggle to the Death
Teams across Konoha fight the reanimated Guardian Shinobi while the conspirators advance their plan. Asuma confronts the legacy of his former comrades, and Naruto keeps searching for Sora inside the larger emergency.
Everybody fights to the death because the adults who designed the argument are not the only ones trapped inside it. Asuma faces peers. Naruto faces the child inheriting their unfinished hatred. The second fight may be harder because victory cannot mean killing the person.

Moment of Awakening
Sora learns that Kazuma was his father and that the conspiracy has been shaping him as a weapon. His Nine-Tails chakra begins surfacing as Konoha’s defenders struggle to contain both the external assault and the collapse inside him.
The moment of awakening is built on weaponized truth. Sora deserved to know his father. He did not deserve to receive that knowledge from people timing it for maximum damage. Facts can still be used abusively when delivery is designed to remove choice.

Despair
The artificial Nine-Tails chakra placed inside Sora expands, and Naruto tries to reach him while remembering his own history as a feared container. Yamato and the others recognize that ordinary restraint may not be enough.
Despair does not make Sora identical to Naruto. It makes Naruto one of the few people who understands the terror of waking inside power everybody else discusses as public property. The rescue has to protect Sora from the chakra and from the people who only see the chakra.

Resonance
Naruto confronts Sora inside the transformation, refusing to treat him as a monster even when the chakra attacks everyone nearby. The conspirators’ plan depends on Sora believing rage is the only self he has left.
Resonance between boys is not a speech about being the same. Naruto knows the village can hate what is inside you and then call that hatred caution. He also knows the fox’s power does not get to make every decision forever.

My Friend
Naruto helps Sora reject the accumulated Nine-Tails chakra, and the conspiracy collapses. Sora chooses to leave the Fire Temple and travel, not as a banished weapon but as a young person deciding what comes after inherited rage.
A friend is not somebody who keeps you nearby for their own comfort. Naruto lets Sora go. That matters because the arc began with adults deciding Sora’s purpose and ends with Sora making a choice no faction wrote for him.

The Quietly Approaching Threat
Naruto resumes Wind Release training as Akatsuki’s Hidan and Kakuzu enter the Fire Country hunting jinchūriki and collecting bounties. Their movement pulls the series from Sora’s political inheritance into an enemy partnership built around profit, ritual, and contempt.
The quietly approaching threat is two coworkers from hell. Hidan treats murder as worship. Kakuzu treats bodies as money and spare parts. Akatsuki has built a team through shared utility, not shared affection, and the arrangement still functions.

Akatsuki's Invasion
Naruto advances from cutting leaves to splitting a waterfall with Wind Release while Kakashi and Yamato manage the training load. Elsewhere, Hidan and Kakuzu attack the Fire Temple and confront Chiriku.
Akatsuki invades while Naruto is learning how to shape damage more precisely. That contrast matters. Power without control is what injured Sakura. Control without moral direction is what lets Kakuzu price a monk’s corpse.

Under the Starry Sky
Naruto’s clones continue the waterfall exercise while Chiriku fights Hidan and Kakuzu. The Akatsuki pair’s immortality, strange bodies, and teamwork overwhelm the temple despite the monks’ defense.
Under a starry sky sounds peaceful until the episode fills it with labor. Naruto’s night is exhausting practice protected by teachers. Chiriku’s night is the consequence of being valuable to a bounty system that recognizes reputation only as a price.

The Old Monk's Prayer
Hidan and Kakuzu kill Chiriku and carry his body to a bounty station. Tsunade mobilizes teams to hunt the pair, placing Asuma, Shikamaru, Izumo, and Kotetsu on the search.
The old monk’s prayer becomes a transaction receipt. Kakuzu sees Chiriku’s history, skill, and service compressed into cash. Konoha answers with teams, but the episode makes clear that the market for violence already has routes, clerks, and repeat customers.

The Next Step
Asuma’s team tracks Hidan and Kakuzu while Naruto continues training. Shikamaru studies the enemy information available, but the search reaches the bounty station before Konoha fully understands what kind of bodies it is facing.
The next step is uncertainty. Shikamaru is brilliant, but analysis cannot manufacture facts the village does not possess. Field intelligence arrives through dangerous contact, and somebody has to stand close enough to learn.

Climbing Silver
Asuma attacks Hidan while Shikamaru restrains him and Izumo and Kotetsu land apparently fatal blows. Hidan survives, draws his ritual symbol, consumes Asuma’s blood, and links their bodies through his curse.
Silver rook is a battlefield role, but Asuma is also the king Shikamaru is not prepared to lose. The team executes a strong plan against the wrong assumptions. Immortality punishes certainty before it punishes courage.

The Judgment
Hidan demonstrates the curse by injuring himself and transferring the damage to Asuma. Shikamaru reconstructs the ritual’s rules, forces Hidan outside the symbol, and helps Asuma decapitate him, only for Kakuzu to keep the fight alive.
Judgment arrives as mechanics, not morality. Shikamaru solves the curse under pressure, but solving a technique does not end the threat when the enemy team has planned around each other’s abnormalities. Intelligence buys a chance. It does not guarantee an exit.

Unfulfilled Scream
Hidan survives decapitation, Kakuzu retrieves his head, and the Akatsuki pair turn Team 10’s apparent success into disaster. Hidan returns to his ritual circle and delivers the linked wound that leaves Asuma dying while Shikamaru can only watch.
The unreachable shout belongs to a strategist who solved the rule and still could not stop the consequence. Shikamaru’s intelligence is real. So is the cruelty of arriving at the correct answer after the enemy has already bought one irreversible second.

Last Words
Leaf reinforcements force Hidan and Kakuzu to withdraw for an Akatsuki sealing assignment. Asuma gives Ino, Chōji, and Shikamaru his final guidance, identifies the “king” he wanted protected, asks for one last cigarette, and dies with his students beside him.
The episode earns its grief by letting Asuma speak to each student as a person, not a résumé. His final lesson turns the king from a leader into the children who inherit the village. Konoha’s future is not an office. It is whoever adults choose to keep alive.

Sad News
News of Asuma’s death reaches Konoha while Naruto continues combining wind nature and Rasengan shape training. Shikamaru tells Kurenai himself, and Akatsuki completes another tailed-beast sealing while discussing the organization’s larger purpose.
Sad news does not politely wait for Naruto’s training montage to finish. The episode interrupts progress with death because that is how loss works. A new technique may help later; it cannot retroactively arrive at Asuma’s fight.

Team Ten
Team 10 gathers for Asuma’s funeral, but Shikamaru avoids the public mourning until Shikaku uses a shogi game to make him release the grief. After crying, Shikamaru develops a revenge plan, and Tsunade allows Team 10 to pursue Hidan and Kakuzu with Kakashi.
Shikaku does not demand masculine silence. He creates a safe place for his son to break, then trusts him to think afterward. Strategy returns only after emotion is permitted. That sequence is care, not weakness.

Target: Locked On
Kakashi joins Team 10’s pursuit while Naruto’s clones push the new wind technique toward completion. Hidan and Kakuzu move through the Fire Country, unaware that Shikamaru has designed the next encounter around the abilities Team 10 already witnessed.
The target is finally locked because grief has become preparation. Revenge is still dangerous, but Shikamaru refuses to repeat the first fight’s ignorance. He brings evidence, teammates, and a plan built for these specific bodies.

Kakuzu's Abilities
Team 10 ambushes Hidan and Kakuzu. Shikamaru uses shadow techniques to separate Hidan, while Kakashi reveals the strange hearts inside Kakuzu’s body and learns that apparently fatal damage only removes one life.
Kakuzu’s ability makes hoarding physical. He does not merely collect money. He collects organs, nature transformations, and extra chances purchased through other people’s deaths. Capitalism looked at reincarnation and said, “Can this be inventory?”

The Terrifying Secret
Kakashi and Team 10 battle Kakuzu’s masked heart creatures while Shikamaru draws Hidan away. Elemental combinations overwhelm the smaller team, forcing Ino and Chōji to fight inside a plan that cannot account for every hidden heart.
The terrifying secret is not one surprise technique. It is redundancy. Kakuzu built a body that expects parts to be sacrificed and replaced. Team 10 has to protect irreplaceable people against an enemy designed like a system with backups.

Shikamaru's Genius
Shikamaru leads Hidan into the Nara forest and uses blood Kakashi collected from Kakuzu to trick the ritual. Hidan unknowingly destroys one of Kakuzu’s hearts while Kakashi, Ino, and Chōji struggle against the remaining masks.
Shikamaru wins information before he wins force. Hidan’s ritual depends on certainty about whose blood entered his mouth. One stolen sample turns the curse back into the team that treated bodies as interchangeable resources.

When You Curse Someone, You Dig Your Own Grave
Shikamaru traps Hidan over a prepared pit, detonates explosive tags, and buries the immortal Akatsuki member beneath Nara land. Asuma’s lighter provides the final spark in an anime staging choice that turns memory into action.
The will of fire is not mystical permission to kill. Here it is continuity between a dead teacher and the student carrying responsibility forward. Hidan remains alive underground, which keeps revenge from pretending death becomes clean when the right person delivers it.

Wind Style: Rasen Shuriken!
Naruto arrives with his completed Wind Release: Rasenshuriken and attacks Kakuzu’s remaining hearts. The technique damages the target at a cellular level but also injures Naruto’s arm, leading Tsunade to restrict its use.
The new technique lands, and the bill lands with it. Naruto solved a training problem by multiplying labor through clones, but his body is still singular. A weapon that destroys the user is not mastery just because it wins once.

The Price of Power
Kakuzu is finished after Naruto’s attack leaves him unable to continue. Kakashi gives the final blow, Team 10 returns with Asuma avenged, and Naruto receives medical confirmation that Rasenshuriken cannot remain a casual close-range solution.
The price of power is not only Naruto’s damaged arm. Team 10 returns without the person whose death organized the mission. Victory stops another attack. It does not restore the chair at the barbecue table.

A Shinobi's Determination
Konoha processes the Akatsuki battle while Naruto recovers and considers how to complete the technique safely. Orochimaru’s forces begin moving around the Three-Tails, and a woman named Guren enters Kabuto’s selection process with Crystal Release.
A shinobi’s determination can build a new jutsu or survive an abusive laboratory. The episode moves from Naruto’s supported training into Orochimaru’s organization, where talent is cultivated through fear, competition, and disposability.

Orochimaru's Hideout Discovered
Guren is ordered to lead a group of Orochimaru’s prisoners and proves her authority through force. Kabuto introduces Yūkimaru, a quiet child whose connection to the Three-Tails makes him useful to Orochimaru’s plan.
The hideout is called found because Orochimaru has found another child-shaped tool. Yūkimaru’s needs are treated as variables. Guren’s loyalty is treated as a resource. Nobody in charge asks what either person wants when usefulness is easier.

Encounter
Guren’s selected fighters survive a brutal test while Kabuto transports Yūkimaru and experiments with his ability to influence the Three-Tails. Konoha begins investigating unusual activity near the lake.
Encounter means several groups entering the same problem with different information. Konoha sees a threat. Kabuto sees an experiment. Yūkimaru sees adults deciding where his body goes. The child has the least authority over the power everyone needs from him.

Connecting Hearts
Guren’s team advances through the forest as Naruto and Konoha shinobi enter the investigation. Yūkimaru’s condition worsens under Kabuto’s drugs, and his attachment to Guren begins growing through small acts of protection.
Connecting hearts sounds sweet until we ask what environment made connection feel miraculous. Yūkimaru is starving for reliable care. Guren offers pieces of it while still working for the system exploiting him. Affection and complicity can occupy the same person.

A Night of Rain
Heavy rain complicates both teams’ movement, and Konoha’s trackers work to identify the enemy while Guren protects Yūkimaru. Kabuto continues managing the mission from a distance, keeping the dangerous labor in other bodies.
The night of rain makes everyone harder to read, which suits an arc built on withheld histories. Guren can be tender and terrifying within the same hour. The contradiction is not fake. It is what survival under Orochimaru trained her to become.

The Two Charms
Konoha’s search teams clash with Guren’s fighters, exposing Crystal Release as a rare and difficult ability to counter. Naruto senses Yūkimaru’s loneliness and begins treating the child as someone to rescue rather than a clue to collect.
Two charms brings Naruto and Yūkimaru together through objects that represent belonging. Naruto knows a keepsake cannot replace a safe adult. He also knows small proof matters when a child expects every bond to disappear.

The Unseeing Enemy
Guren uses Crystal Release to trap opponents while Kakashi’s team studies the technique’s limits. Yūkimaru remains central to the plan for the Three-Tails, and Kabuto keeps escalating pressure on his body.
The unseen enemy is not only a hidden fighter. It is the institutional plan around the child. Konoha can defeat henchmen and still fail if nobody reaches the person being consumed by the operation.

The Labyrinth of Distorted Reflection
Teams regroup after the first clashes, and Naruto’s concern for Yūkimaru conflicts with the mission’s focus on the Three-Tails. Guren’s fighters reveal fractures in loyalty while Kabuto continues steering them through promises and threats.
The labyrinth of distorted reflection belongs to people trying to see themselves through Orochimaru’s expectations. Guren wants to believe loyalty gives her life meaning. Yūkimaru wants to believe attachment guarantees a home. Both ideas are being exploited.

The Target Appears
Konoha prepares a sealing operation for the Three-Tails while Guren’s group protects access to the lake. Shino breeds insects capable of resisting Crystal Release, and Shizune organizes the barrier team.
The target appears because every faction has finally named the same creature. Their reasons remain different. Konoha wants containment. Orochimaru wants control. The Three-Tails gets discussed as an objective before anyone discusses what freedom would mean for it.

The Rampaging Tailed Beast
The Three-Tails emerges and attacks across the lake, scattering the teams and pulling Naruto, Yūkimaru, and Guren closer to the center of the danger. The creature’s scale turns individual plans into survival improvisation.
A rampaging tailed beast is frightening, but the episode keeps the human cause visible. The chaos did not appear from nowhere. Adults drugged a child and provoked a living weapon, then everybody acted surprised when the lake stopped cooperating.

Inside the Mist
Naruto confronts the Three-Tails while Guren tries to protect Yūkimaru and complete her assignment. Kakashi’s team works through Crystal Release defenses as Shizune’s group prepares the sealing barrier.
Inside the mist, categories blur. Enemy, asset, child, monster, and rescuer keep changing positions. Naruto’s strength is not that he ignores mission boundaries. It is that he notices when those boundaries are swallowing a person.

Everyone's Feelings
The Three-Tails traps Naruto and others in an illusion-heavy space connected to its body. Separate teams fight to escape, while Yūkimaru’s distress continues affecting the creature.
Everyone’s feelings sounds sentimental for an episode about a giant turtle prison. The point is mechanical. Yūkimaru’s emotional state is being used as an interface. When adults weaponize attachment, feelings become battlefield infrastructure.

Regroup!
Naruto and the others work to escape the Three-Tails’ inner space while Guren confronts memories linking her to Yūkimaru’s mother. Kabuto’s manipulation depends on keeping that history hidden until it becomes useful.
Regroup means more than getting the squad back together. Guren has to assemble the truth about herself after living under Orochimaru’s moral fog. Recognition hurts because caring for Yūkimaru does not erase what she did to his family.

The Four-Corner Sealing Barrier
Shizune’s team begins the Four-Corner Sealing Barrier around the lake. Kakashi’s fighters hold off Guren, Shino completes an insect generation resistant to Crystal Release, and fractures within Guren’s group weaken its defense.
Sealing is collective work with no room for solo-hero nonsense. Four people must hold position while other teams buy time. The technique makes care look like engineering, which is exactly what large-scale protection often is.

Breaking the Crystal Style
Shino’s adapted insects break Guren’s crystal defense, and Gozu sacrifices himself to protect her from Kakashi. Shizune’s team starts binding the Three-Tails while Kabuto blackmails Guren with the truth that she killed Yūkimaru’s mother.
Breaking Crystal Release does not solve the arc’s harder prison. Guren is trapped between guilt, loyalty, and attachment. Kabuto understands that shame can control a person more efficiently than chains, especially when the truth is isolated from any path toward accountability.

The Battle Over the Barrier
Guren breaks into the Four-Corner Sealing Barrier while Naruto protects Shizune's team from Rinji. The Three-Tails overwhelms the seal with chakra blasts, and Yūkimaru burns through his strength trying to protect Guren.
The barrier fails because every adult faction keeps treating Yūkimaru's body as equipment. Konoha calls its use protection, Orochimaru calls it research, and the child still pays in pain. The episode is anime-original, but its ethics fit Naruto's larger jinchūriki argument uncomfortably well.

Red Camellia
Rinji wounds Guren while Yūkimaru's memories of his mother's death are triggered by her blood-red camellia. Guren fights the Three-Tails to keep him safe, Naruto joins her, and both are swallowed as the creature attacks.
The red camellia turns guilt into something Yūkimaru can see. Guren wants to protect him, but protection does not erase what she helped Orochimaru do. The arc finally stops treating remorse like a mood and makes it compete with immediate bodily danger.

Strange Bedfellows
Konoha prepares another sealing attempt while Naruto and an injured Guren search for a way out of the Three-Tails. They share truths about being a jinchūriki and loving Yūkimaru, while Kabuto offers curse marks to Rinji's abandoned men.
Naruto and Guren become strange partners because both understand what it means to be used by stronger people. The difference is accountability. Naruto was made a vessel without consent; Guren helped build Yūkimaru's cage and now has to earn every inch of trust.

Guidepost of the Camellia
Yūkimaru uses the camellias and his bond with Guren to guide Naruto and Guren out of the Three-Tails. Kakashi attacks the beast's protective membrane while Konoha holds the shoreline against Kabuto's men.
The rescue works through connection, not brute force. Yūkimaru is valuable here because he knows where his people are, not because Orochimaru can squeeze power out of him. That distinction is the emotional spine of the whole arc.

Counterattack of the Curse Mark
Sai is ambushed while moving Yūkimaru, and Rinji's group takes the boy back under threat of losing Kabuto's medicine. Konoha defends the sealing team as Naruto and Guren race toward Yūkimaru.
Kabuto manages loyalty like an abusive employer: create dependence, control the supply, then call obedience a choice. Sai's defeat also reminds us that one capable operative cannot secure a child against an entire extraction system.

Memory of Guilt
Kabuto impersonates Rinji, pressures Yūkimaru to provoke the Three-Tails, and reveals that Guren killed the boy's mother. Yūkimaru refuses simple revenge and identifies Guren as the person he can return to.
Forgiveness here is messy, not cleansing. Yūkimaru's attachment is real, and so is the violence behind it. The episode asks viewers to hold both facts without using a child's love to issue Guren a moral pardon she has not earned.

Shattered Promise
Kabuto uses Rinji's corpse against Guren, who crystallizes herself with him and falls into the lake. Yūkimaru loses control, the Three-Tails breaks free, and Naruto uses a toad collaboration technique to stop the rampage and recover the child.
The shattered promise is not only Guren disappearing. Every adult promised safety while building plans around Yūkimaru's power. His breakdown is treated as a crisis to contain, but the episode has shown exactly who loaded that crisis into him.

A Place to Return To
Tsunade recalls the Konoha teams and sends ANBU to take over. Gozu secretly saves Guren, Yūkimaru leaves after recognizing her grass whistle, and Tobi and Deidara seize the Three-Tails after destroying the ANBU unit.
The arc ends by giving Yūkimaru a place to return to rather than a military function. Konoha does not win the beast, Akatsuki does, but Naruto carries the more important lesson into his promise to Sasuke: belonging cannot be forced like a seal.

The Great Snake's Pupil
Sasuke attacks the weakened Orochimaru after deciding his teacher has nothing left to offer. Orochimaru reveals his giant white-snake form and attempts the body-transfer ritual, while Sasuke answers with the curse mark and Sharingan.
Sasuke's exit is not a student graduation. It is one exploited teenager turning on the adult who planned to wear his body. The problem is that Sasuke has learned Orochimaru's language of power so well that liberation arrives looking a lot like domination.

Eye of the Hawk
Orochimaru remembers his pursuit of immortality, his Akatsuki years, and his failed attempt to take Itachi's body. Inside the transfer dimension, Sasuke reverses the ritual and absorbs Orochimaru instead.
The serpent wanted endless bodies because he treated mortality as an insult. Sasuke wins by making himself the less controllable vessel, not by rejecting the system. It is satisfying, ugly, and exactly the kind of victory this apprenticeship was built to produce.

Zabuza's Blade
Sasuke frees Suigetsu from Orochimaru's laboratory and helps him retrieve Kubikiribōchō, Zabuza's blade, from men who seized it in the Land of Waves. Suigetsu agrees to travel with him.
The return to Waves makes Sasuke walk through Team 7's first graveyard without Team 7. Suigetsu wants a famous weapon, but the sword already carries a history of owners, labor, blood, and survival. Reputation changes hands faster than responsibility.

Guardian of the Iron Wall
Sasuke reaches Orochimaru's southern hideout and recruits Karin, its chakra-sensing warden. She initially refuses, frees herself from responsibility for the prisoners, then joins while pretending the trip is merely convenient.
Karin's introduction gives us competence, desire, and complicity at once. She can sense people with extraordinary precision, yet she helped manage a prison. Attraction to Sasuke does not erase that job, and comedy should not be allowed to hide it.

Jugo of the North Hideout
News of Orochimaru's apparent death reaches Konoha as Sasuke and Suigetsu enter the northern hideout. Karin locates Jūgo, whose uncontrolled transformations and murderous impulses made him the source studied for Orochimaru's curse marks.
Orochimaru turned Jūgo's condition into a product line. The hideout's escaped prisoners show the result: bodies remodeled for somebody else's ambition. Sasuke is gathering useful people, but usefulness is the same word Orochimaru used before him.

Formation!
Jūgo remembers how Kimimaro gave him enough trust to leave isolation and serve Orochimaru. Sasuke stops Jūgo and Suigetsu from fighting, offers himself as Kimimaro's replacement, and names the new four-person unit Hebi.
Hebi forms through bargains, grief, and shared damage, not friendship speeches. Sasuke offers direction, but he also chooses teammates by function. The group may be less coercive than Orochimaru's laboratories, yet it is not automatically a healthy family because it has matching travel plans.

Kakashi Chronicles - A Boy's Life on the Battlefield - Part 1
During the Third Shinobi World War, newly promoted jōnin Kakashi leads Rin and Obito toward the Kannabi Bridge mission while Minato fights elsewhere. Rin is kidnapped, Kakashi prioritizes the mission, and Obito leaves to rescue her.
Kakashi and Obito argue over two real obligations: the mission protects many lives, and abandoning a teammate turns people into disposable tools. Sakumo's disgrace sits behind Kakashi's rigidity. The boy is not cold by nature; he is terrified of repeating his father's punishment.

Kakashi Chronicles - A Boy's Life on the Battlefield - Part 2
Kakashi joins Obito's rescue, loses his left eye, and receives Obito's awakened Sharingan after a cave-in crushes half of Obito's body. Rin performs the transplant, Minato saves the survivors, and the bridge mission is completed.
The Sharingan is remembered as a gift, but the scene is also children doing battlefield surgery beside a dying friend. Obito's rule about comrades becomes Kakashi's moral inheritance because the institution gave them no safe way to learn it.

Assemble
Hebi and a large Konoha search unit begin separate hunts for Itachi. Akatsuki finishes sealing the Three-Tails, Deidara resents Sasuke's reputation, and Jiraiya shares one last ramen meeting with Naruto before pursuing Pain.
Everybody assembles around Itachi, but they want different versions of him: target, brother, clue, threat. The episode turns pursuit into a crowded marketplace of grief. Jiraiya's quiet exit matters because Naruto does not yet know it is goodbye.

The Hunt
Konoha divides into scent-tracking teams while Hebi searches nearby towns. Kabuto shows Naruto that he has grafted Orochimaru's remains into himself, then gives Konoha Akatsuki intelligence before Sasuke meets Deidara.
Kabuto calls self-experimentation reinvention, but Orochimaru's flesh is already taking territory inside him. His information helps Naruto while his body becomes another laboratory. Useful cooperation does not make him safe or redeemed.

Clash!
Deidara and Tobi attack Sasuke with clay creatures, buried mines, and the C2 dragon. Sasuke damages the dragon and escapes the minefield, pushing Deidara toward his microscopic C4 technique.
The fight is an argument about seeing. Deidara wants art to overwhelm the eye; Sasuke's eye keeps reading the mechanism underneath it. Tobi plays fool while doing the unglamorous mine work that makes Deidara's spectacle possible.

Art
Deidara's C4 attack fills the area with microscopic bombs, but Sasuke uses genjutsu and lightning chakra to identify and neutralize the earth-based explosives. Cornered by Sasuke's analysis, Deidara turns his own body into a final bomb.
Deidara would rather die than let the Sharingan become the last critic standing. His ending is not artistic freedom. It is ego converting every nearby life into an unwilling audience, while Sasuke survives through patient elemental logic.

Disappearance
Sasuke escapes Deidara's massive self-destruction by summoning Manda, controlling him, and using him as a shield. Manda dies, Hebi regroups, and Tobi reveals to Pain and Konan that his foolish persona conceals a claim to Madara Uchiha's identity.
Sasuke survives by spending another creature's body. That tactical brilliance has a moral bill, even if the story moves quickly past it. Tobi's reveal then widens the board: the clown routine was camouflage for management.

Twilight
Jiraiya tells Tsunade he has located Akatsuki's leader in the Hidden Rain and will infiltrate alone. Hebi evades Konoha's scent teams, Itachi briefly confronts Naruto, and Jiraiya reflects on his bond with Tsunade before leaving.
Twilight belongs to Jiraiya and Tsunade more than the chase. Their conversation has the weight of people who survived long enough to recognize a goodbye but still lack language that can make it safer. Duty wins the argument before either of them says the honest thing.

Tales of a Gutsy Ninja ~Jiraiya Ninja Scroll~ Part 1
The story looks back at Jiraiya's youth, his accidental arrival at Mount Myōboku, the Great Toad Sage's prophecy, and his years traveling in search of the student who might change the world.
Prophecy gives Jiraiya direction, but it also tempts him to read children as answers to his destiny. His better moments come when he teaches the person in front of him instead of trying to force a forecast to make sense.

Tales of a Gutsy Ninja ~Jiraiya Ninja Scroll~ Part 2
Jiraiya's memories cover Hanzō naming the Sannin, his decision to train the war orphans Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan, and Minato choosing the name Naruto from Jiraiya's novel. Reports later convince him the Rain students died.
Jiraiya leaves three children in a country still ruled by war because he believes training can substitute for infrastructure. His care is genuine and incomplete. The name Naruto carries his hope forward, but Nagato carries the consequences he failed to see.

Infiltrate! The Village Hidden in the Rain
Jiraiya infiltrates Amegakure, learns that Pain killed Hanzō and now rules the village, and interrogates Rain shinobi inside a frog. Pain stops the surveillance rain while Konan searches for the intruder.
The Rain is not spooky decoration. It is a traumatized country reorganized around one man's surveillance and divine image. Jiraiya enters as a spy, former teacher, and citizen of a great power whose wars helped create the conditions he is investigating.

The Man Who Became God
Jiraiya prepares the key to Naruto's seal for delivery if he dies, then confronts Konan and recognizes Pain as Nagato. Pain explains his plans before the former teacher and student escalate into a battle of summons.
Pain calls himself a god because ordinary political language cannot hold the scale of control he wants. Jiraiya recognizes the child beneath the title, but recognition is not repair. Their reunion arrives years after teaching stopped and consequences kept growing.

Honored Sage Mode!
Jiraiya calls Gamaken to hold off Pain's invisible chameleon and a chain of summoned animals while he gathers natural energy. Fukasaku and Shima join him, complete Sage Mode, and reveal that Pain can field more than one Rinnegan body.
Sage Mode is powerful and inconvenient on purpose. Jiraiya needs time, partners, and protection to reach it. The episode refuses the fantasy that mastery means needing nobody; his strongest form literally arrives through cooperation with an older couple.

In Attendance, the Six Paths of Pain
Jiraiya, Fukasaku, and Shima coordinate ninjutsu and sound genjutsu against three Paths of Pain. After trapping and killing the trio, Jiraiya lowers his guard, only for all six Paths to appear and tear away his left arm.
The fight punishes incomplete information, not lack of courage. Jiraiya solves the bodies in front of him, but Pain's system is larger than one battlefield. A teacher who lived by gathering stories now risks dying because the story still has a missing author.

The Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant
Jiraiya identifies the six Paths as ninja he encountered during his travels and realizes Nagato is controlling corpses. Mortally wounded, he sends a coded warning through Fukasaku, remembers his failures, and names Naruto as the true continuation of his tale before sinking into the Rain's water.
Jiraiya's death works because it does not clean his record. He failed people, crossed boundaries, and left work unfinished. His final choice still matters: he converts the last movement of his body into information for the student who must live beyond him.

Banquet Invitation
Sasuke reaches an Uchiha hideout and confronts Itachi, but the brother before him is a crow-clone message. Itachi directs Sasuke to their final meeting place while Kisame keeps the rest of Hebi away from the duel.
The invitation gives Sasuke exactly what revenge has trained him to want: a closed room, one target, no witnesses. Kisame's containment of Hebi also strips away the team Sasuke assembled, leaving him alone inside the family story that has controlled his life.

The Longest Moment
Sasuke and Itachi begin their final battle with shuriken exchanges, genjutsu layers, and accusations about the Uchiha massacre. Itachi claims Madara helped him and presents a history of Sharingan power built on stealing a brother's eyes.
Itachi tells history like a weapon. Facts, lies, and selective truths arrive in the same calm voice, forcing Sasuke to fight for control of the narrative before the physical battle even settles. Family knowledge becomes another form of genjutsu.

The Light & Dark of the Mangekyo Sharingan
Itachi describes Madara and Izuna's Mangekyō Sharingan, the loss of sight caused by overuse, and the Eternal Mangekyō gained through a sibling's eyes. He then claims Sasuke's eyes are the purpose of their entire relationship.
The episode turns brotherhood into an organ market. Whether every detail is true matters less in the moment than the terror Itachi produces: Sasuke's childhood, survival, and training are reframed as inventory prepared for an older brother.

Amaterasu!
Sasuke appears trapped by Tsukuyomi and has an eye removed, but the horror is revealed as genjutsu contested by Sasuke's Sharingan. The brothers shift into fire techniques, and Sasuke uses Orochimaru-style substitution to survive Amaterasu.
Sasuke breaking Tsukuyomi is not merely a power-up. He rejects the private reality Itachi built for him. Yet every survival method shows borrowed influence, including Orochimaru's, so independence arrives through techniques inherited from dangerous teachers.

The End
Itachi's Amaterasu burns through Sasuke's defenses until Sasuke manipulates the weather and unleashes Kirin. Itachi survives by revealing Susanoo, while Sasuke's depleted chakra allows Orochimaru to emerge in his giant serpent form.
Kirin is Sasuke at his most methodical: he uses ordinary atmospheric conditions, shaped by earlier fire, to make lightning faster than hand signs. Then Orochimaru appears from inside him, proving that absorbed exploitation does not disappear just because the victim gained control.

The Mystery of Tobi
Itachi's Susanoo seals Orochimaru with the Totsuka Blade and blocks Sasuke's attacks with the Yata Mirror. Nearly blind and dying, Itachi approaches Sasuke, taps his forehead as he did in childhood, and collapses.
Itachi wins every hidden objective except the one Sasuke believes they are fighting over. The forehead tap lands as affection, manipulation, apology, and withheld truth at the same time. That emotional pileup is why the death cannot be filed as a clean victory.

Fate
Zetsu reviews the battle while Tobi collects Sasuke. Konoha's search team is delayed, Hebi learns Sasuke survived, and Tobi reveals his Sharingan before preparing to tell Sasuke the truth about Itachi.
The battlefield becomes evidence controlled by whoever reaches the survivor first. Tobi does not rescue Sasuke out of kindness. He secures a grieving audience before Konoha can offer another account, which is propaganda strategy with a space-time technique.

Truth
Tobi tells Sasuke that Konoha ordered Itachi to eliminate the Uchiha clan after a planned coup, then allowed him to live publicly as a criminal. Sasuke resists the story as Tobi describes Itachi's war trauma, ANBU service, and impossible assignment.
The truth is horrifying because institutional peace was purchased through one family and outsourced to a teenager. Tobi is still a manipulator, but manipulation can use accurate facts. Sasuke now has to process grief while the person briefing him wants to recruit the result.

Battle of Unraikyo
Tobi explains that Itachi spared Sasuke, threatened Danzō, joined Akatsuki to watch Konoha, and engineered the final battle to remove Orochimaru and transfer protective power. Sasuke remembers signs of his brother's care that revenge had taught him to misread.
Itachi loved Sasuke and controlled nearly every major choice in his life. Both are true. The episode earns tragedy by refusing to make sacrifice automatically healthy. Love without consent can still rearrange another person's identity like a battlefield.

The Eight-Tails vs. Sasuke
Sasuke grieves on the coast, renames Hebi as Taka, and declares that the group will destroy Konoha. His Mangekyō Sharingan awakens as he redirects love for Itachi into hatred for the village.
Sasuke does not return from manipulation to freedom. He moves from Itachi's plan into Tobi's funnel because grief demands a target faster than it can build judgment. Taka's new mission is emotionally understandable and politically explosive.

Wanderer
Naruto's team follows Utakata, a wandering shinobi who uses bubble ninjutsu, while Hotaru tries to keep him as her master. A group of pursuers attacks, drawing Konoha into an anime-original conflict around the Tsuchigumo clan.
The Six-Tails arc begins with a girl asking for mentorship and a man treating attachment like a trap. Utakata's distance has reasons, but Hotaru experiences the result as abandonment. The story knows that trauma can explain behavior without making it harmless.

Successor of the Forbidden Jutsu
Hotaru reveals a forbidden technique sealed into her body and returns to the Tsuchigumo village, where villagers resent the clan and target her status. Naruto's group discovers that protection inside the village is mostly a promise on paper.
A dangerous inheritance has been placed inside another young person and called tradition. The village's contempt shows how communities can depend on a clan's sacrifice while refusing the survivor ordinary belonging. Naruto has seen this scam before.

The Successor's Wish
Attackers seize Hotaru and expose the seal on her back before Naruto, Yamato, and Sai intervene. Utakata confronts the hunter-nin sent from the Hidden Mist, while his history with former master Harusame begins to surface.
Hotaru's body becomes a map everybody feels entitled to inspect, weaponize, or rescue. The episode needs that violation to feel ugly. A secret technique is not abstract lore when a teenager has to carry it under her skin.

Rogue Ninja's Past
Utakata remembers believing Harusame betrayed him during an attempted extraction of the Six-Tails. Tsurugi offers a different account, while Naruto pushes Utakata to stop making Hotaru pay for a wound she did not cause.
Mentorship cannot survive on missing context. Utakata built his identity around betrayal; Naruto recognizes the pattern because Sasuke did the same. The challenge is not to erase caution, but to keep caution from becoming inherited cruelty.

Heir to Darkness
Hotaru learns the clan's forbidden technique can devastate an enormous area and asks for it to be removed. Utakata agrees to help, but Shiranami reveals himself as the manipulator directing the bandits and controlling the village.
Shiranami uses clan legitimacy as camouflage for extraction. He does not need villagers to love Hotaru; he only needs them frightened enough to surrender her. That is how prejudice becomes labor for a villain who barely has to dirty his own hands.

Separation
Shiranami captures Hotaru and uses a controlling seal to force the forbidden technique toward release. Naruto and Utakata break through his defenses while Konoha fights villagers placed under the same control.
The crisis turns consent into the central mechanic. Hotaru asked to be free of the weapon, yet Shiranami converts her refusal into fuel. Naruto is not saving a bomb; he is helping a person regain ownership of her body.

The Forbidden Jutsu Released
Naruto and Utakata enter the chakra field around Hotaru, disrupt Shiranami's control, and help contain the forbidden technique. Shiranami's plan collapses, and the village is released from his influence.
Containment succeeds because people share risk with Hotaru instead of demanding she absorb it alone. The anime-original arc is at its strongest when power management looks like community care rather than a chosen child's private burden.

Master and Student
Hotaru and Utakata prepare to continue as student and master, but Pain's Paths ambush Utakata after he leaves briefly. The Six-Tails is captured while Hotaru waits, unaware that he did not choose to abandon her.
The ending is cruel because it weaponizes the misunderstanding the arc spent repairing. Hotaru finally trusts that Utakata will return, and Akatsuki removes him before he can keep the promise. From her side, healing looks exactly like the old wound happening again.

Somber News
Konoha receives Jiraiya's coded message and confirms his death. Naruto reacts with anger toward Tsunade, isolates himself, and is eventually met by Iruka, who shares grief without trying to rush him past it.
The episode lets mourning be rude. Naruto's anger is unfair to Tsunade and still recognizable as grief searching for somebody alive to blame. Iruka helps by sitting beside the loss, not by selling a lesson before Naruto can breathe.

Following the Master's Shadow
Shikamaru brings Naruto into the work of decoding Jiraiya's message, while Fukasaku explains Pain and offers to train Naruto at Mount Myōboku. Naruto decides to continue what his teacher could not finish.
Work does not replace grief, but it gives grief somewhere to move. Shikamaru understands that because Asuma's death forced him through the same door. Naruto accepts training as inheritance, not as permission to stop missing Jiraiya.

Decryption
Naruto reaches Mount Myōboku and begins learning how natural energy creates senjutsu chakra. Fukasaku explains the balance required and the danger of turning to stone when nature energy overwhelms the user.
Sage training makes balance literal. Naruto cannot dominate nature or simply collect more power; he has to hold body, spirit, and environment in proportion. For a boy famous for forcing outcomes, stillness becomes the difficult technique.

The First Challenge
Fukasaku uses toad oil and a corrective staff while Naruto practices sensing and balancing natural energy. Naruto progresses through clone-assisted repetition, and Konoha continues analyzing the information Jiraiya died to provide.
The oil accelerates learning, but the staff keeps failure from becoming petrification. That is responsible mentorship: create conditions for risk, then stay close enough to interrupt catastrophe. Jiraiya's old training line becomes safer in Fukasaku's hands.

Surpassing the Master
Naruto learns to gather natural energy without toad oil and begins Frog Kumite training. Elsewhere, Sasuke notices his eyesight worsening, Taka clashes with Cloud scouts, and the Raikage moves toward a Five Kage Summit over Sasuke and the missing Killer B.
Naruto surpasses his master through a practice that demands connection to the world around him. Sasuke moves the opposite direction, burning through his eyes while narrowing his world to revenge. Their growth is real, but only one path currently knows how to receive help.

Assault on the Leaf Village!
Pain's six bodies divide into attack and search teams, breach Konoha's barrier, and begin tearing through the village for Naruto. Tsunade orders evacuation while Shizune, Inoichi, Ibiki, and Shikamaru work separate pieces of Jiraiya's evidence.
Konoha's defense is a network before it is a collection of famous fighters. Analysts, medics, interrogators, barrier teams, messengers, and evacuees all matter. Pain attacks the institution by forcing every layer to function under terror at once.

Power to Believe
Konohamaru moves through the invaded village with Udon and Moegi, then witnesses the Naraka Path killing Konoha shinobi through interrogation. Ebisu protects him and refuses to reveal Naruto's location, prompting Konohamaru to step into the fight.
Konohamaru's Rasengan is not a cute inheritance cameo. He uses something Naruto taught him to protect the teacher who once dismissed Naruto. Mentorship circles back through action, and Ebisu's refusal proves his revised judgment of Naruto now has a cost.

Pain vs. Kakashi
Kakashi battles the Deva and Asura Paths, using Kamui and careful timing while Chōza and Chōji reinforce him. The Asura Path survives long enough to attack Chōji, and Kakashi spends his remaining chakra to stop the missile and preserve Pain's intelligence.
Kakashi dies doing information work, not performing a glamorous finish. He calculates what the village still needs and spends himself accordingly. Chōji's survival turns that choice into a message that can keep other people alive.

Mystery of Pain
Inoichi traces Pain's body supply to Amegakure, Shizune confirms the chakra-receiver theory, and the Animal Path floods Konoha with summons. Ibiki's interrogation techniques cannot hold a body that treats pain as old news.
The investigators are closing in, but Pain's assault moves faster than institutional understanding. Ibiki's torture expertise meets someone built from a different scale of suffering, exposing the limits of fear as an information system.

Surname Is Sarutobi. Given Name, Konohamaru!
The Hyūga clan defends civilians, Sakura organizes medical response, and Tsunade sends Katsuyu fragments across the village to heal and communicate. Naruto continues Sage training while the invasion reaches Konoha's hospital and shelters.
Tsunade turns one summon into a village-wide care network. That is leadership with receipts: information, chakra, triage, and protection distributed to ordinary bodies. Pain's spectacle is loud; her infrastructure is why anyone remains to witness it.

Pain to the World
Konan restrains Aburame clan members with paper while Pain's bodies push deeper into Konoha. Naruto struggles to extend Sage Mode, and Fukasaku prepares the reverse summoning that will bring him home when the village needs him.
The episode sits inside delay. Naruto is becoming powerful elsewhere while Konoha survives minute by minute without him. That gap prevents the hero's arrival from erasing everybody who held the line before the entrance music started.

Explode! Sage Mode
The Human Path captures Shizune and tears the location of Naruto from her mind, killing her. Pain recalls the remaining bodies, confronts Tsunade on the Hokage Monument, and condemns Konoha's role in the wars that devastated smaller nations.
Pain's indictment is not nonsense just because his answer is monstrous. Konoha has benefited from violence exported to places like Rain. Tsunade defends her people while standing inside the history he names, which is exactly why this confrontation has weight.

Danger! Sage Mode Limit Reached
After Tsunade refuses to surrender Naruto, the Deva Path rises above Konoha and uses a massive Shinra Tensei to flatten the village. Tsunade pours her stored chakra through Katsuyu to protect residents as Naruto is summoned into the crater.
Pain destroys the symbol of the village in seconds; Tsunade saves as many actual villagers as her body can reach. That contrast is the political argument. Buildings advertise power, but leadership is measured by who survives their collapse.

Nine-Tails, Captured!
Naruto arrives in Sage Mode with Fukasaku, Shima, and the giant toads, sees Konoha's destruction, and learns Kakashi has died. He destroys the Asura Path and orders everyone else not to interfere while Katsuyu shares Pain's known abilities.
The entrance is iconic because grief is held under discipline. Naruto does not explode blindly after hearing about Kakashi. He listens, assigns protection, and fights with information collected by people who died before he arrived.

Confessions
Naruto and the toads counter Pain's summons while Sage-powered Frog Kumite strikes beyond visible reach. He destroys additional Paths and uses pre-positioned shadow clones at Mount Myōboku to renew his limited Sage chakra.
The clone reserve is Naruto engineering around a real limit, not producing endless power. Sage Mode works because he planned a supply chain. Even his solo-looking hero moment depends on distant versions of himself sitting still and trusted allies buying time.

Planetary Devastation
Pain absorbs Naruto's Rasenshuriken and captures him with chakra rods after Sage Mode expires. Naruto retrieves another clone's natural energy, destroys the Preta Path by overloading it, and continues narrowing the six-body system.
Absorption looks unbeatable until Naruto makes the appetite itself dangerous. He wins through understanding what the enemy cannot safely digest. The move also mirrors the arc's politics: systems that consume everything eventually take in consequences too.

The Fourth Hokage
Hinata enters the battlefield after Pain pins Naruto down. She confesses her love, attacks despite the gap in power, and is struck down in front of Naruto, triggering the Nine-Tails cloak and a violent loss of control.
Hinata's choice is brave and desperate, not a reward scene for Naruto. She acts because watching from safety would betray the person she decided to become. Pain then turns her body into another lesson, and Naruto's grief becomes exactly the weapon Pain expected.

The Two Students
The transformed Naruto reaches six tails, overwhelms several defenses, and forces Pain to use Chibaku Tensei. Inside his seal, Naruto moves toward releasing the Nine-Tails completely until Minato appears and stops him.
Pain tries to prove that unbearable loss makes peace impossible, and Naruto nearly supplies the evidence. Minato's arrival is emotional, but the mechanics matter: a dead parent left a failsafe because a child was made to carry a catastrophe before he could consent.

Big Adventure! The Quest for the Fourth Hokage's Legacy - Part 1
Minato reveals he is Naruto's father, explains that he sealed the Nine-Tails believing Naruto could master its power, and warns that the masked man behind the Konoha attack is manipulating events. He repairs the seal before disappearing.
The reunion gives Naruto love and another inherited assignment in the same breath. Minato trusted him, but trust does not cancel what was placed in an infant. Naruto leaves the encounter steadier because he finally receives context, not because the burden becomes fair.

Big Adventure! The Quest for the Fourth Hokage's Legacy - Part 2
Naruto escapes Chibaku Tensei, returns to Sage Mode, and defeats the final Deva Path by exploiting the interval between Shinra Tensei uses. He locates Nagato through the chakra receivers and goes to confront him without the village at his side.
The final strike is timing, patience, and collective intelligence. Naruto then chooses the harder fight: conversation with the person behind the bodies. That choice is not softness. It is the only move that can answer Pain's argument instead of merely silencing him.

Meeting
Naruto meets Nagato and Konan in their hidden tower. Nagato recounts his childhood in war-torn Rain, the deaths of his parents, and the bond he formed with Yahiko and Konan under Jiraiya's training.
Nagato's origin puts civilians from a small nation at the center of great-power war. His parents die because Konoha shinobi enter the wrong home and react with force. The story does not let the Leaf's heroism erase what the Leaf uniform meant from the floor.

Origin of Pain
Nagato explains how Yahiko built the Akatsuki around peace, how Hanzō and Danzō conspired against them, and how Yahiko died on Nagato's kunai to save Konan. Nagato then used the Demonic Statue and embraced the identity of Pain.
Yahiko's death is engineered through hostage politics and outside interference. Nagato's later crimes are his responsibility, but they grow from institutions that treated Rain's independent peace movement as a threat. Context is not acquittal; it is the receipt.

Tale of Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto admits he does not yet know how to create peace, but refuses to abandon Jiraiya's belief or kill Nagato in revenge. He offers the endurance represented by Jiraiya's novel as evidence that the cycle can be interrupted.
Naruto's answer is intentionally incomplete. He does not solve geopolitics with a speech. He demonstrates one immediate break in the cycle by standing before his teacher's killer and refusing the action Pain predicted.

Hero of the Hidden Leaf
Nagato entrusts hope to Naruto and uses Rinne Rebirth to restore the people killed in Konoha, sacrificing his own life. Konan leaves Akatsuki with the bodies of Nagato and Yahiko, while the village begins receiving its dead back.
The revival does not rebuild homes, erase trauma, or turn mass violence into a harmless lesson. It does restore stolen lives, which is enormous. Nagato's final act is repair at the cost of his body, not a retroactive claim that everything before it was necessary.

Rookie Instructor Iruka
As Naruto returns, Sakura runs to embrace him and the village gathers in celebration. Iruka remembers Naruto's childhood isolation and the long chain of people whose changed choices made this welcome possible.
Konoha calling Naruto a hero is satisfying and overdue. It is also an institutional confession without paperwork: the child once treated as contamination saved everyone. Celebration matters, but it should not make the village's earlier cruelty disappear.

Iruka's Ordeal
Iruka remembers the day Naruto became his student, the boy's pranks, and the resentment Iruka carried after losing his parents to the Nine-Tails. The flashback tracks the slow decision to see Naruto as a child rather than a vessel.
Iruka's care is powerful because it was not automatic. He had to confront a socially approved prejudice inside himself. The episode treats recognition as work, which is more useful than pretending good teachers are born morally finished.

Iruka's Decision
Iruka continues remembering Naruto's Academy years, including classroom disruption, loneliness, and small attempts to earn attention. Hiruzen pushes Iruka to examine what Naruto actually needs from the adults around him.
Naruto's misconduct is communication nobody wanted to translate. Punishment could control the surface, but only attention reached the abandoned child underneath. Hiruzen identifies the need while still presiding over a village that repeatedly fails to meet it.

Kakashi Hatake, The Jonin in Charge
Kakashi's memories revisit Team 7's formation, Naruto's early recklessness, and the bell test lesson about comrades. In the present, Kakashi is restored with the rest of Pain's victims and rejoins the recovering village.
The retrospective works when it shows how Naruto changed Kakashi too. Team 7 did not simply receive wisdom from an elite teacher. Their insistence on bonds forced a traumatized professional to practice the rule Obito died teaching him.

Inari's Courage Put to the Test
Inari hears about Konoha's destruction and remembers Naruto changing the Land of Waves. He and Tazuna decide to travel to Konoha and help rebuild, bringing the bridge builder's labor back into Naruto's story.
This is reciprocity with lumber and tools. Naruto helped Waves recover courage; Waves answers when his home is broken. The episode understands that gratitude becomes meaningful when it crosses distance and turns into work.

Naruto's School of Revenge
Naruto's former classmates remember early encounters that changed how they saw him, while Konoha organizes recovery. The recollections show rivalry, annoyance, and respect accumulating long before the village used the word hero.
Public opinion did not flip in one crater. It shifted through missions, exams, rescues, arguments, and Naruto's refusal to disappear. The flashback format earns its chair by making social change look gradual rather than magically unanimous.

Gaara's Bond
Gaara reflects on an earlier joint mission where Sand shinobi tried to eliminate him and Team 7 chose to help. His own teammates recognized that he had changed, and the present-day Kazekage trusts Naruto to carry Konoha through recovery.
Gaara's bond with Naruto is political because both became leaders after being treated as weapons. He does not admire Naruto from a safe distance. He recognizes the labor of becoming acceptable to communities that should have protected them first.

Naruto: Outbreak
Sakura remembers an Academy-era scare in which Naruto's sneeze appears to spread a chakra-related illness. Tsunade isolates Naruto and evacuates villagers, only to discover there is no virus and rename the panic a preparedness exercise.
The comedy lands on Konoha's ability to mobilize an absurd amount of force around one unpopular child. Public health caution is reasonable. Pretending the false alarm was always an exercise is pure administrative face-saving.

Deploy! Team Tenten
A past emergency leaves Tenten responsible for coordinating weapons and supplies while more celebrated fighters are unavailable. Her planning, sealing skills, and willingness to manage unglamorous work keep the mission moving.
Tenten gets an episode about logistics, which is overdue. Ninja stories worship signature attacks and forget that somebody inventories blades, moves equipment, and notices what a team lacks. Competence is not less real because it happens before the explosion.

Animal District
Naruto remembers pursuing an ostrich named Condor that has learned speech, combat, and a deep resentment of human interference. The retrieval mission becomes a running battle through a district full of unusually capable animals.
The joke is that Naruto treats Condor as ridiculous until Condor argues back. The animal district turns the standard summon hierarchy sideways: creatures are not props waiting for shinobi contracts, and some have very reasonable complaints about being chased.

Ah, the Medicine of Youth
Naruto, Sakura, and teammates remember a mission complicated by a medicinal dose tied to Guy and Lee's explosive idea of youth. The cure causes more chaos than the original problem while the team struggles to contain its effects.
The episode is broad comedy, but its funniest truth is that enthusiasm without dosage control is still a hazard. Guy's care is genuine. That does not make every intervention medically wise, babes.

Gutsy Master and Student: The Training
Naruto recalls training under Jiraiya during their journey, including the stubborn repetition behind mastering new control and the teacher's habit of hiding instruction inside aggravation. A local crisis tests what Naruto has absorbed.
Jiraiya's method is messy because Jiraiya is messy. He gives Naruto room to fail and reasons to keep moving, but he also relies on danger as curriculum. The bond grows through endurance, not through pretending the pedagogy was flawless.

Record of the Ninja Gutsy Master and Student
The remembered journey continues as Naruto and Jiraiya confront the consequences of the local conflict and coordinate as student and master. Naruto's insistence on protecting people forces the lesson out of theory and into action.
The two-part memory earns its place by showing apprenticeship between famous milestones. Growth is usually built in these smaller repetitions, where a student copies, argues, fails, and eventually makes the teaching his own.

Sasuke's Paw Encyclopedia
Team 7 remembers a mission involving Ninneko, the ninja-cat network, and Sasuke's attempt to collect the final paw print for a feline encyclopedia. Itachi's earlier participation hangs over the task even while the episode plays as comedy.
A paw encyclopedia is gloriously low-stakes, yet it gives Sasuke a childhood activity not organized around revenge training. The shadow of Itachi remains, proving family memory can invade even the silliest errand.

Naruto and the Old Soldier
Naruto recalls meeting an elderly genin named Kosuke who spent decades serving on the front lines after refusing promotion. A mission reveals Kosuke's experience, his connection to earlier Hokage, and the grief behind his chosen rank.
Kosuke's story separates title from ability. Remaining a genin is partly penance, not proof of incompetence. The village benefited from his labor for years while allowing guilt to become a career structure, which deserves more side-eye than the episode usually gives it.

Kakashi Love Song
Kakashi remembers protecting a woman named Hanare, a spy whose past intersects with his own loneliness. Their mission creates intimacy under surveillance before village obligations force them onto opposing sides.
The love-song framing is softer than the shinobi system deserves. Kakashi and Hanare can recognize each other and still be employed by institutions that treat intimacy as intelligence exposure. Chemistry does not suspend the job.

Neji Chronicles
Neji remembers an earlier mission in which his Byakugan, tactical judgment, and relationship with Hinata are tested outside the Chūnin Exams. The assignment highlights how much of his anger once came from the Hyūga branch system.
Neji's growth is not that the cage stopped existing. He changed how he moved inside it and how he treated people who did not design it. The clan's hierarchy remains responsible even when individual relatives reconcile.

The Man Who Died Twice
A Konoha shinobi named Kisuke appears to die, returns through a mission complication, and becomes central to exposing an enemy plot. Naruto and his teammates struggle to understand whether they are dealing with a survivor, ghost, or deception.
The title promises resurrection and delivers shinobi paperwork-level confusion. Under the comedy is a useful point: in a world of transformations and staged deaths, identity verification is actual fieldcraft, not paranoia.

The Worst Three-Legged Race
Naruto and Sasuke are forced into an awkward three-legged race during a remembered village event. Their competition turns basic coordination into a public disaster before shared movement finally becomes unavoidable.
The joke works because their bodies reveal the relationship before either boy can admit it. They want to outrun each other while literally tied together. Team 7 spends years making that metaphor much more expensive.

Team 10's Teamwork
Team 10 recalls a mission that requires Shikamaru's planning, Ino's perception, and Chōji's power to operate as one system. Familiar friction gives way to the formation Asuma trained them to trust.
Teamwork here is not three people taking turns with branded attacks. Each skill changes what the others can safely do. Asuma's real legacy is a group that knows coordination well enough to survive after the teacher is gone.

Drive Towards Darkness
Sasuke's earlier life in Konoha is revisited through moments of rivalry, isolation, and escalating fixation on Itachi. His bonds with Team 7 grow while the curse mark and promises of power pull him toward departure.
The drive toward darkness was not one dramatic decision. It was a series of wounds, manipulations, silences, and adults offering power faster than care. Sasuke remains responsible for what he chooses, but the road had recruiters.

The Sixth Hokage Danzo
Danzō becomes acting Sixth Hokage candidate while Konoha remains damaged and Tsunade lies comatose. He orders Sasuke classified for elimination, restricts Naruto's movement, and prepares to represent the village at the Five Kage Summit.
Danzō treats disaster like a vacancy notice. His authority is not yet the settled moral mandate the title suggests, but he moves quickly because emergency procedure favors whoever already understands the machinery.

Five Kage Summit's Eve
Cloud ninja arrive seeking information about Sasuke, Sai explains Danzō's restrictions, and Naruto agrees to help despite the pain of hearing Sasuke blamed for Killer B's capture. The Kage and their escorts begin traveling toward the summit.
The summit's eve is crowded with consequences arriving from other countries. Naruto's private promise now sits inside international violence. Friendship cannot remain a Konoha-only argument once Cloud families believe Sasuke took one of theirs.

Enter the Five Kage!
The Five Kage enter the Land of Iron with their guards and take their places before mediator Mifune. Old rivalries, security concerns, and competing claims to legitimacy fill the room before the Akatsuki crisis can even be addressed.
The summit is diplomacy with weapons standing one chair away. Every Kage arrives carrying national trauma and institutional pride. Cooperation is necessary, but nobody is entering as a neutral adult above the mess.

Naruto's Plea
Naruto intercepts the Raikage and begs him to forgive Sasuke, explaining the cycle of revenge and the danger of retaliation. The Raikage refuses, arguing that Sasuke's choices and the Cloud's losses cannot be erased by Naruto's pain.
Naruto's plea is heartfelt and politically weak. He asks the injured party to absorb the consequence so he can preserve his friend. The Raikage is harsh, but he correctly identifies that Naruto is offering emotion without restitution or authority.

Painful Decision
Sai tells Sakura that Naruto's promise to retrieve Sasuke has become a source of suffering and that Naruto loves her. Sakura decides to confront Naruto, while Shikamaru's group concludes Konoha may need to stop Sasuke themselves.
Everybody makes decisions around Naruto instead of with him. They want to relieve his burden, yet secrecy reproduces the same control they resent in shinobi institutions. Good intentions are now stacking into a dangerous group project.

Racing Lightning
Sasuke and Taka infiltrate the summit complex, and the Raikage charges into battle after learning their location. Samurai confront the intruders while Zetsu disrupts the meeting and exposes Sasuke's presence.
The summit was supposed to coordinate nations against Akatsuki, and Sasuke turns it into a live demonstration of why coordination is failing. The Raikage's speed is physical and emotional: grief has been waiting for a body it can hit.

Sasuke's Ninja Way
Sasuke fights the Raikage's guards and pushes deeper into the summit while his Mangekyō techniques strain his body. Gaara tries to speak with him, but Sasuke declares that his path cannot be changed.
Sasuke calls vengeance his ninja way because naming it principle makes the narrowing feel chosen. Gaara recognizes the posture from his own past. His warning carries weight precisely because somebody once interrupted his version of the same lie.

Power of the Five Kage
The Raikage sacrifices an arm to break through Amaterasu, Gaara intervenes, and Sasuke uses Susanoo against multiple Kage and guards. The battle demonstrates both the Mangekyō's power and the physical collapse accelerating behind it.
Sasuke's strength is undeniable and increasingly unusable without destroying him. The Kage are not background bosses; each exposes a different limit. Power that wins one exchange can still leave its owner blind, isolated, and politically cornered.

Declaration of War
Tobi appears before the Kage, explains the Eye of the Moon Plan, demands the remaining tailed beasts, and declares the Fourth Shinobi World War when the leaders refuse. The villages agree to form an Allied Shinobi Force.
War is declared through a plan that treats every person's inner life as territory to occupy. The alliance forms because separate national survival is no longer possible. That necessity does not erase the mistrust each village brought into the room.

Sakura's Feelings
Sakura meets Naruto and falsely claims she no longer loves Sasuke, hoping to release Naruto from his promise. Naruto rejects the confession because he recognizes that her words do not match her actions or feelings.
Sakura is trying to stop Naruto from bleeding for her promise, but she uses emotional control to do it. Naruto's refusal is one of his clearest interpersonal judgments: care cannot be built on a lie designed to manage someone else's choices.

The Tailed Beast vs. The Tailless Tailed Beast
Killer B battles Kisame and Samehada, using tailed-beast power against an opponent who absorbs chakra at an alarming rate. Samehada responds to B's chakra, while the Raikage races toward his brother.
The so-called tailless tailed beast is terrifying because he converts an opponent's abundance into his own supply. B's partnership with Gyūki is the counterargument: shared power has trust and conversation, while Kisame's model is consumption.

As One's Friend
Sakura's group moves to confront Sasuke, Naruto struggles with the choices his friends are making, and the summit fallout reshapes every village's priorities. Taka's injuries and Sasuke's worsening condition reveal the cost of the path he insists on following.
Being Sasuke's friend no longer means defending him from every consequence. Naruto has to find a form of loyalty that does not abandon Sasuke or excuse him. The episode leaves that definition painful because adulthood has arrived before a clean answer.

Danzo's Right Arm
Danzō reveals the implanted Sharingan covering his right arm and repeatedly uses Izanagi to rewrite fatal outcomes during his battle with Sasuke. Karin tracks the technique's timing while Tobi watches both men spend bodies and eyes for advantage.
Danzō's arm is Konoha policy made flesh: stolen Uchiha power, Hashirama's cells, and secret experimentation arranged under bandages. He calls it protection of the village because that phrase has hidden a lot of theft.

The Forbidden Visual Jutsu
Sasuke pressures Danzō until the remaining Sharingan close, but Danzō uses Shisui's eye and takes Karin hostage. Sasuke pierces through Karin to strike Danzō, choosing revenge over the teammate who helped keep him alive.
Sasuke's shot through Karin is the moment Taka's family language collapses under its actual hierarchy. She was useful until she stood between him and the target. Trauma explains his narrowing; it does not make her body acceptable collateral.

Danzo Shimura
Mortally wounded, Danzō attempts a sealing technique meant to pull Sasuke and Tobi into death with him. He remembers competing with Hiruzen and his lifelong hesitation, then destroys Shisui's eye to keep it from Tobi.
Danzō dies still calling control sacrifice. His regret is not that he built a violent shadow state; it is that Hiruzen received the title first. The self-image of a necessary patriot survives longer than his evidence.

Sakura's Resolve
Sakura approaches Sasuke after knocking out her own teammates and claims she wants to join him. Sasuke orders her to kill Karin as proof, then attacks when Sakura hesitates, forcing Kakashi to intervene.
Sakura's plan depends on performing emotional betrayal well enough to fool somebody who now tests loyalty through murder. It was never sturdy. Kakashi arriving is not a rescue from romance; it is a teacher confronting what his student has become.

Lost Bonds
Kakashi fights Sasuke and accepts responsibility for failing Team 7. Sakura tries to strike Sasuke but freezes, and Naruto arrives in time to stop Sasuke's attack against her.
Kakashi's guilt is sincere, but one teacher cannot absorb every decision made by students, elders, clan politics, and predators. Sakura's hesitation is not proof she lacks resolve. Killing someone you loved is not a clean competency test.

The Burden
Naruto and Sasuke clash, and Naruto explains that he now understands their next fight could kill them both. Tobi removes Sasuke before the battle can continue, while Naruto refuses the village's demand to reduce Sasuke to a target.
Naruto finally stops promising an easy retrieval. He offers shared consequence instead: if Sasuke insists on carrying hatred to the end, Naruto will meet him there. That is still dangerous, but it is more honest than pretending friendship guarantees rescue.

Two Fates
Tobi transplants Itachi's eyes into Sasuke so he can recover and seek greater visual power. Naruto returns with Kakashi and Sakura, keeps parts of the confrontation private, and begins preparing for the war now surrounding Sasuke.
Sasuke chooses Itachi's eyes after rejecting Itachi's wishes. The transplant makes inheritance literal and contradictory. Naruto's silence also shows his habit of carrying decisions alone, even while insisting bonds are the answer.

High-Level Shinobi
The villages process Tobi's war declaration while Konoha debates leadership during Tsunade's coma. Gaara prepares the alliance message, and Naruto's friends try to understand the promise he has made about Sasuke.
A world war cannot be managed through one boy's private vow, no matter how sincere it is. The episode widens the responsibility outward: Kage, councils, teams, medics, and civilians will all pay for what comes next.

The Infiltrator
The Allied Shinobi Forces begin organizing command, intelligence, medical, and combat divisions. Kabuto approaches Tobi with reanimated Akatsuki members and offers military support in exchange for access to Sasuke.
Kabuto walks into war negotiations with stolen corpses as his résumé. Edo Tensei turns the dead into labor that cannot resign, making the alliance's manpower problem look ethical next to Akatsuki's answer.

The Five Great Nations Mobilize
Kabuto proves the scale of his reanimation army and pressures Tobi with a final hidden coffin. Tobi accepts a limited alliance, while the five villages accelerate preparations and debate how to protect Naruto and Killer B.
The coffin Kabuto does not show us is leverage built from somebody's remains. Tobi and Kabuto cooperate because each believes he can control the other later. Villain partnerships remain employment contracts with murder in the fine print.

Kakashi Hatake, the Hokage
The Kage agree to conceal Naruto and Killer B on a remote island while the alliance mobilizes. Naruto is told the trip is a special ecological mission, and he accepts without being informed that he is the protected military asset at the center of the plan.
Calling confinement a mission does not create consent. The alliance fears Naruto will refuse safety, so adults return to the oldest jinchūriki habit: decide what happens to the vessel and explain afterward.

Prophecy of the Great Lord Elder
Tsunade wakes from her coma, resumes the Hokage position, and begins eating to restore her depleted body. The Allied command structure solidifies as Naruto prepares to travel with Yamato and other escorts.
Tsunade's return restores legitimate leadership, but it does not erase decisions made while she was unconscious. Her hunger is bodily consequence, not a gag alone. Saving a village emptied years of stored chakra and nearly emptied her life.

Storage
Naruto departs Konoha under the cover of an island survey, saying goodbye to friends who know more than he does. The voyage begins with sea trouble and the uneasy comedy of a hero being transported away from his own war.
Everybody smiles around a lie meant to keep Naruto safe. The tenderness is real, and so is the paternalism. Protection without truth remains a cage with nicer travel arrangements.

The Five Kage's Decision
Naruto's ship reaches open water as the alliance continues war preparations and Tobi develops his forces. The journey shifts the series from summit consequences toward the remote training ground where Naruto will meet Killer B.
The sea creates a pause between political crisis and war, but it is not empty space. Naruto is being repositioned like strategic material while believing he is useful in a different way. That misunderstanding will eventually demand an argument.

The Young Man and the Sea
A violent storm and mechanical trouble strand Naruto's group, forcing the escorts to cooperate with sailors and local knowledge. Naruto treats the delay as another problem that effort can overpower.
The boat arc begins by reminding land-trained ninja that nature does not respect rank. A jōnin cannot order the ocean to behave. Survival requires listening to people whose expertise does not come with a forehead protector.

The Ninja of Benisu
Naruto's group reaches a strange island inhabited by oversized creatures and mistakes it for the secret training destination. The resulting chase turns exploration into a lesson about ecosystems the shinobi do not understand.
The comedy works because the team arrives expecting a controlled mission site and finds animals with their own rules. Not every place exists as ninja infrastructure. Sometimes visitors are simply the invasive species with clipboards.

The Cursed Ghost Ship
A mysterious ship and ghost story unsettle the crew as Naruto investigates disappearances and rumors at sea. The explanation proves more human than supernatural, though the isolation makes every sound feel guilty.
Ghost stories thrive where information is thin and escape routes are thinner. The episode uses seafaring fear as social pressure: people invent certainty because admitting they do not know what is on the deck is worse.

Battleship Island
Naruto's ship encounters a dangerous fungal growth that spreads through supplies and bodies. The crew must identify the source, contain exposure, and survive long enough to prevent the organism from taking the vessel.
The episode is body-horror wearing filler clothes. It also understands quarantine better than many shinobi missions: denial spreads the problem, and bravado is useless without containment.

The Forgotten Island
The voyage crosses paths with a hidden island community and a dispute shaped by isolation. Naruto intervenes while the crew tries to keep the larger mission concealed and the ship moving.
Naruto cannot pass suffering without entering the plot, which is admirable and operationally exhausting. His escorts are guarding a war asset who keeps acting like a person with moral agency. That contradiction is the trip.

Fight! Rock Lee!
A remembered rivalry between Guy and Kakashi becomes the center of another voyage delay, with competition escalating through challenges only the two men could treat as reasonable preparation.
Guy and Kakashi's rivalry works because affection survives the scoreboard. They compete without demanding the other become smaller. In a series full of rivalries that curdle into ownership, that is quietly precious.

Eat or Die! Mushrooms from Hell!
Naruto meets a group connected to medicinal ninja herbs and a local conflict, turning the voyage into another rescue. The crew's limited supplies make knowledge of plants and treatment more important than brute force.
Healing knowledge travels differently from combat fame. Local expertise matters because the nearest Hokage cannot punch a pharmacy into existence. The episode gives care work a small but deserved place on the sea route.

Revenge of the Shadow Clones
Naruto creates shadow clones to help with shipboard labor, only for the clones to revolt against being treated as disposable copies. The mutiny forces him to confront how his technique divides work and exhaustion.
Yes, it is comic nonsense. It is also a labor dispute inside one body. Naruto routinely creates people-shaped effort, sends it into danger, then collects every memory when the clone ends. The episode notices the weirdness and lets the workforce complain.

The Closed Route
Shikamaru remembers earlier doubts about his role and the responsibilities that came with promotion. The voyage-era framing returns attention to the strategist preparing for a war in which every plan will spend real people.
Shikamaru's intelligence is not magic immunity from consequence. Leadership means knowing the plan can be correct and still send friends into harm. His laziness was partly resistance to a world eager to make children responsible for death.

The Girls' Get-Together
Hinata's memories revisit her training, confidence, and determination to stand beside Naruto rather than watch from a distance. The retrospective links quiet persistence to the choices she made during Pain's assault.
Hinata's growth should not be reduced to loving Naruto harder. Her real movement is from inherited inadequacy toward chosen action. Naruto is part of that, not the entire architecture.

Naruto's Imposter
Sai recalls the slow process of learning Team 7's emotional language and trying to understand bonds his Root training taught him to suppress. His blunt observations create friction while revealing how much he has changed.
Sai's awkwardness is not an empty joke. Root deliberately damaged his ability to name attachment, then expected him to function among ordinary teammates. Every clumsy attempt at care is evidence that conditioning did not get the final word.

Naruto's Favorite Pupil
Konohamaru remembers pursuing Naruto's example while trying to define himself beyond Hiruzen's grandson. His small team treats Naruto as teacher, rival, and proof that recognition can be earned through work.
Calling Konohamaru Naruto's favorite pupil is cute, but the inheritance runs both ways. Teaching forces Naruto to model responsibility before he feels grown. Konohamaru receives a technique and a standard, not permission to copy the entire personality.

The Kunoichi of Nadeshiko Village
Naruto meets Shizuka of Nadeshiko Village, whose village law expects her to marry a man who can defeat her. Jiraiya once made a match-related promise to Shizuka's teacher, leaving Naruto to answer an obligation he never accepted.
The episode puts misogyny inside a matriarchal custom and calls it tradition. Shizuka is powerful, yet her future is still organized around compulsory marriage through combat. Naruto's best contribution is not winning her; it is refusing the premise that grief or duty should choose a spouse.

Friends You Can Count On
A ladybug reminds Naruto of Shino, while Shino tells younger students about fear before the war. He recalls Team 8 helping him train after a bandit named Suika exploited his weakness in close combat and mocked his insects.
Shino admits fear without letting it become shame. Kiba and Hinata help because teams are supposed to cover weak angles, not pretend every member is complete alone. Naruto forgetting Shino's name remains funny because Shino will absolutely keep the receipt.

Ah, My Hero Lady Tsunade!
Tenten remembers idolizing Tsunade and trying to copy her strength and medical path. Training reveals that those specialties do not fit, so Tenten develops her own mastery of summoning and deploying ninja tools.
The episode gives Tenten something better than borrowed greatness: a route that belongs to her. Failing to become Tsunade is not failure. Mentorship can inspire direction without producing a smaller duplicate of the mentor.

Sai's Day Off
On a day off, Sai walks through Konoha drawing and meets children who remind him of Naruto and Sakura. Memories of Team 7 lead him to paint a mural that includes Sasuke, with the teammates holding hands.
Sai uses art to practice a belonging Root tried to remove from him. Including Sasuke is hopeful and a little painful because the picture shows the team as Sai wants it, not as the world currently allows it to exist.

The Legendary Ino-Shika-Cho Trio
A story centered on the Ino-Shika-Chō formation revisits how the three clans pass coordinated roles across generations. Ino, Shikamaru, and Chōji rely on inherited teamwork during a self-contained anime-original mission.
Tradition works here because it is a living method, not a demand for identical children. The trio inherits a formation, then fills it with their own personalities and Asuma's teaching. Legacy becomes useful when it can adapt.

Kiba's Determination
Kiba resents how far Naruto has risen from their Academy rivalry and asks Kakashi for help getting stronger. Kakashi assigns his ninken to train Kiba and Akamaru, forcing the pair to examine coordination rather than chase Naruto's exact abilities.
Kiba's envy is not villainy; it is the sore spot of watching the class dead-last become a national hero. The healthy answer is not copying Naruto. Kiba has to deepen the partnership already at the center of his own fighting style.

Kakashi, My Eternal Rival!
Guy accidentally sends a distress signal, prompting Kakashi to investigate the ship. Seasickness and rumors about impostors make Guy suspect everyone until Kakashi proves himself through a shared childhood memory.
Guy's paranoia becomes comedy, but the friendship underneath it is sturdy. Kakashi knows which memory cannot be faked because their rivalry has decades of ridiculous specificity. That is intimacy in a green jumpsuit.

Naruto's Vow
At the final supply stop, Naruto meets Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi during a dispute involving Mist deserters and old resentment toward Stone. Naruto argues for the alliance and promises to help carry the world toward peace before the Cloud boat arrives.
Naruto's vow lands between people whose countries remember different injuries. He cannot erase those histories, but he can refuse to let inherited grievance automatically become the next attack. The voyage ends where the political work begins.

Land Ahoy! Is this the Paradise Island?
Naruto reaches the giant turtle called Paradise Island, where Killer B saves the group from a giant squid. Motoi directs Naruto to the Waterfall of Truth, and Naruto meets the dark self built from years of resentment.
The dark Naruto is not an evil intruder. He is every insult and abandonment the hero survived without permission to express. Defeating him cannot mean pretending the anger was fake; Naruto has to recognize it as part of the person who kept moving.

Killer Bee and Motoi
Motoi tells Naruto that he tried to kill Killer B after the Eight-Tails killed his father, then watched B endure the village's hatred without retaliating. When a squid takes Motoi, B rescues the friend who once attacked him.
B's forgiveness belongs to B, not to the village that abused him. His rescue of Motoi is generous because it is chosen. The episode should not turn that generosity into a rule requiring every victim to comfort the people who harmed them.

The Next Challenge! Naruto vs. The Nine Tails
Naruto accepts his dark self and gains Killer B's instruction. Inside the temple chamber, he opens the seal and fights Kurama directly, using Sage Mode while B helps restrain the tailed beast long enough for Naruto to pull at its chakra.
Naruto enters another relationship through force because the shinobi world taught hosts and beasts to meet as jailer and prisoner. The battle is a power milestone, but it is not yet trust. That distinction matters later.

The Orange Spark
As Kurama's hatred begins overwhelming Naruto, Kushina's chakra appears inside the seal. She identifies herself as his mother and tells him about her red hair, childhood bullying, Cloud kidnapping, and Minato finding her through the strands she left behind.
Kushina gives Naruto family history that is funny, painful, and specific. The red hair she once hated becomes the tool that leads rescue to her. Love does not erase the kidnapping; it helps her reclaim a feature other people turned into a target.

Target: Nine Tails
With Kushina's chains helping restrain Kurama, Naruto extracts the tailed beast's chakra and forms a new seal. Kushina then reveals she was the previous Nine-Tails jinchūriki and begins explaining how the seal weakened during Naruto's birth.
The family reunion becomes a classified-history briefing because Naruto's body has always contained public consequences. Kushina's role also restores a woman erased from the village's common story: the previous host, not merely the Fourth Hokage's wife.

The Fourth Hokage's Death Match!
Kushina recounts Naruto's birth, Tobi's murder of the attendants, his threat against the newborn, and the extraction of Kurama. Minato saves Naruto, protects Kushina, and fights the masked attacker through a precise contest of space-time techniques.
The Fourth Hokage's famous battle begins with reproductive violence against Kushina. Tobi times the attack around childbirth because the seal and her body are vulnerable. Minato's brilliance matters, but Kushina is not scenery around his duel.

Thank You
Minato removes Tobi's control, teleports Kurama away from Konoha, and joins Kushina in restraining the beast. They sacrifice themselves protecting Naruto, divide Kurama's chakra, and leave chakra imprints meant to help their son later.
“Thank you” carries love and an impossible inheritance. Minato and Kushina save Naruto while also placing a national weapon inside him. Their final words are tender because they know they will not be there to help him live with the decision.

Battle in Paradise! Odd Beast vs. The Monster!
Naruto emerges in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode and senses Kisame hiding inside Samehada. Kisame escapes with intelligence about the island, but Guy intercepts him and defeats his chakra-consuming techniques with the physical force of the Daytime Tiger.
Guy wins because his attack is pressure, not chakra for Kisame to eat. It is a beautifully specific matchup. The fight also strips away the joke of Guy forgetting Kisame's face and forces recognition through action.

The Man Named Kisame
Aoba enters Kisame's memories, uncovering his history of killing comrades to protect intelligence and joining Akatsuki after Tobi promised a world without lies. Kisame escapes interrogation, summons sharks, and chooses death rather than surrender information.
Kisame's loyalty is real and attached to a murderous organization. That combination is the point. He hates hypocrisy so deeply that he embraces a system offering consistent monstrosity, then proves its values by treating his own body as classified material.

The Angelic Herald of Death
Konan confronts Tobi in Amegakure to protect Nagato's body. She reveals that she has studied his intangibility and prepared an ocean of paper bombs designed to explode longer than he can remain intangible.
Konan's preparation is not emotional decoration around two dead men. She analyzes the enemy, reshapes the battlefield, and nearly kills him with time, mathematics, and six hundred billion receipts. Grief has become engineering.

The Bridge to Peace
Tobi survives Konan's trap by sacrificing a Sharingan to Izanagi, then kills her and takes Nagato's Rinnegan. The Rain clears and her bloodied paper turns red as memories of Yahiko and Nagato close around the loss.
Konan deserved a future beyond guarding men's bodies, and the story does not give it to her. Her defeat does not make the plan foolish. It reveals that Tobi carried one more stolen escape route than she could reasonably know.

The Super Secret S-Rank Mission
Kabuto and reanimated Deidara intercept the giant turtle while Ōnoki and Akatsuchi respond. Naruto is kept focused on his animal survey as fighting outside the shell determines whether Akatsuki can seize him.
The alliance hides the war from Naruto so aggressively that an island-sized turtle can be attacked while adults improvise another explanation. At some point protection becomes absurd theater, and this episode knows it.

The Artist Returns
Kabuto battles the island defenders, uses the giant Manda clone to overturn the turtle, and targets Yamato for his Wood Release. Ōnoki and Kurotsuchi intervene, but Kabuto escapes with Yamato as a valuable source for strengthening White Zetsu.
Yamato is kidnapped as biological infrastructure. Orochimaru made his survival from experimentation useful, and Kabuto immediately turns that usefulness back into extraction. His body is again treated as a production resource.

Assemble! Allied Shinobi Forces!
The giant turtle is secured near the Cloud while Naruto begins further training with B. Allied scouts discover the massive White Zetsu army, and the five combat divisions plus intelligence, medical, logistics, and reconnaissance support are formally assembled.
The war finally looks like an organization chart because wars are not won by protagonists alone. Gaara's command sits atop thousands of people with old national grudges, different specialties, and families hoping the structure brings them home.

Meeting
A recap returns to Naruto's lonely childhood, his early rivalry with Sasuke, Team 7's formation, and the Land of Waves mission. The episode frames the boys' connection from the start rather than advancing the war.
This recap is safe to skip if the earlier series is fresh. Its useful point is contrast: Naruto recognizes Sasuke's loneliness before either has the language to call that recognition friendship.

Rivals
The recap moves through the Chūnin Exams, Orochimaru's curse mark, Naruto's growing courage, and Sasuke's increasing need to measure himself against Naruto. Their rivalry gains affection and pressure at the same time.
Sasuke does not become jealous because Naruto succeeds once. The fear grows through repeated evidence that the person he dismissed can reach him, save him, and perhaps surpass him. Pride turns connection into a threat.

Rift
Sasuke’s growing distance from Team 7 hardens into a break as Orochimaru’s promise of power exploits his grief and impatience. “Rift” carries that damage into Naruto’s rescue promise instead of pretending friendship can survive without consequence.

Parting
Sasuke accepts the Sound Four's offer and becomes their leader. The separation matters because the people left behind still have to carry its emotional and tactical cost.
