BLACKPINK renewed its group contract with YG Entertainment in 2023 while each member moved solo work into a separate structure. That distinction explains the long group gap, the explosion of individual albums, and why a BLACKPINK comeback now feels less like a normal K-pop cycle and more like four major schedules agreeing to share one stage.
The five-track DEADLINE EP arrived February 27, 2026 after the stadium tour of the same name. It is the first group project since BORN PINK, led by “JUMP” and “GO.”

How BLACKPINK became BLACKPINK
YG teased a new girl group for years while the eventual members trained, modeled, appeared in videos, and survived a shifting pre-debut lineup.
“Whistle” and “Boombayah” established the formula immediately: black versus pink, rap versus melody, luxury versus impact.
“As If It’s Your Last,” SQUARE UP, “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” and KILL THIS LOVE moved the group from major rookie to global festival act. Their 2019 Coachella appearance became a turning point.
“How You Like That,” “Ice Cream,” “Lovesick Girls,” and collaborations with Selena Gomez and Cardi B pushed BLACKPINK deeper into global pop.
ROSÉ and LISA launched major solo eras while JISOO’s acting career accelerated. The group identity began functioning alongside four distinct brands.
“Pink Venom,” “Shut Down,” the world tour, and the 2023 Coachella headline set confirmed that the group had outgrown ordinary comeback expectations.
The members renewed as a group with YG but separated solo management. rosie, AMORTAGE, Ruby, and Alter Ego made the gap feel less like inactivity and more like a four-way expansion.

The name
BLINK combines BLACK and PINK. The official light stick—designed around a pink heart hammer—matches the fandom’s mix of cute, loud, and slightly threatening.
The central tension
BLACKPINK’s concept has always lived between opposites: glamorous and aggressive, controlled and chaotic, inaccessible and intensely parasocial.
Inside the fandom
Fans often organize around both the group and powerful solo fanbases. That creates enormous streaming and promotional force—but also recurring fights over lines, schedules, styling, label support, and whether one member is being favored.

No. Group activities remain under YG Entertainment. Solo activities are managed separately. The confusing part is that the group now works on a slower, event-based clock.
The “too few songs” complaint
It is fair. BLACKPINK’s catalog is unusually small for a group of its age. Scarcity helped make releases feel huge, but it also left fans waiting through long stretches and placed impossible pressure on every comeback.
Solo-stan warfare
All four members are large enough to support independent fandom ecosystems. That makes every line distribution, brand deal, schedule, chart, and camera cut available for weaponization. Treat screenshots without dates or sources as bait until proven otherwise.
