Early life and training

Kim Ji-soo was born in Gunpo and grew up with an older brother and sister. Before the couture campaigns and stadium tours, she was interested in performance, basketball, taekwondo, and her school drama club. Acting was part of the plan early; idol training became the road that opened first.

She joined YG Entertainment in 2011 and trained for five years. Pre-debut commercials and appearances in Epik High’s “Spoiler + Happen Ending” and Hi Suhyun’s “I’m Different” taught her how to make stillness read on camera. Acting is not a side quest invented after idol fame. Snowdrop demanded innocence, fear, romance, and tragedy across a politically controversial story. Whatever viewers thought of the drama, she was not handed an easy starter role.

Newtopia found a sharper weapon: comic timing. Her relationship is collapsing during a zombie outbreak, and the show lets her be frantic, stubborn, ridiculous, and emotionally direct. It fits the JISOO fans know—the woman who can remain weirdly calm while everything catches fire.

In Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, she entered a large-scale fantasy adaptation as Lee Ji-hye. Her screen choices keep putting her inside genre machinery—historical melodrama, zombies, apocalypse—rather than asking her to play polished versions of herself.

Voice, performance, and public persona

JISOO’s voice is lower, slightly husky, and instantly identifiable. It is not BLACKPINK’s most elastic instrument, but recognizability is pop currency. The best producers leave the grain intact instead of sanding it smooth.
