History

YG assembled trainees from South Korea, Thailand, and Japan through years of monthly evaluations. The eventual lineup ranged from long-term trainees to CHIQUITA, whose preparation period was unusually short.

The pre-debut series presented seven candidates while founder Yang Hyun-suk repeatedly suggested the final group might contain fewer members. Public pressure and the series’ narrative ended with all seven announced for BABYMONSTER.

AHYEON paused activities for health reasons. RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, RAMI, RORA, and CHIQUITA released “BATTER UP,” followed by the vocal ballad “Stuck In The Middle.”

AHYEON returned, making BABYMONS7ER the official seven-member debut. “SHEESH,” “LIKE THAT,” and seven-member versions of earlier singles established the complete lineup.

“FOREVER” opened the summer before the first full album paired “CLIK CLAK” with “DRIP.” The album widened the frame through “BILLIONAIRE,” “Love In My Heart,” “Really Like You,” and RUKA/ASA unit track “Woke Up In Tokyo.”

The Hello Monsters world tour tested the group’s live reputation. RAMI stepped away for health reasons during the Asia leg and remained absent from later releases. “HOT SAUCE” and WE GO UP continued with six active members.

The third mini album turned the group’s goal into one word: dance. “CHOOM,” “MOON,” “I LIKE IT,” and “LOCKED IN” launched a new tour cycle, followed quickly by “SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA.”

The official fandom name combines “MONS” from BABYMONSTER with “TIES,” emphasizing the bond between the group and fans. You will also see “Baemon” and “BM” used as group shorthand.

YG family vocabulary

“YG ending” means the final chorus expands into a chant, dance break, or festival-sized release. “Main vocal” debates are constant and usually less useful than asking which voice a specific song actually needs.

RAMI’s health hiatus

Confirmed: YG announced in May 2025 that RAMI would miss the Asia tour for health reasons after continuing activities while receiving treatment. Later six-member releases and promotions prioritized her recovery. The official profile still includes all seven members.

Not confirmed: A permanent departure. Until YG or RAMI says otherwise, “health hiatus” is the accurate label.

AHYEON’s delayed debut

Confirmed: AHYEON did not participate in “BATTER UP” or the original “Stuck In The Middle” promotions for health reasons. YG announced her return in January 2024, and she joined the group’s official seven-member debut with BABYMONS7ER.

What fans still debate: How much the pre-debut rollout should count as the “real” debut. CVM Sekai uses YG’s April 1, 2024 seven-member debut date while preserving the earlier six-member singles in the history.

Current status: seven members, six active performers

BABYMONSTER remain an official seven-member group: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora and Chiquita. Rami has been on a health-related hiatus since 2025. YG’s public language continues to prioritize her recovery while the other six record, promote and tour. “Six active” describes the current stage formation. It is not evidence of a silent lineup change.

That distinction affects every tracker after the hiatus. HOT SAUCE, WE GO UP and the 2026 CHOOM cycle are six-member performance files. Earlier releases document all seven, while BATTER UP and Stuck In The Middle document the original six-person debut period before Ahyeon’s return. The catalog has three different visible lineups, and none should be mislabeled for convenience.

CHOOM completed a four-video rollout

YG released the third mini album CHOOM on May 4, 2026 with four tracks: MOON, CHOOM, I LIKE IT and LOCKED IN. The rollout then expanded through the title-track video, SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA digital single, I LIKE IT video and the August 3 MOON video. This is unusually sustained follow-through from a company whose schedules often arrive as promises first and calendars second.

The four pieces also argue against reducing BABYMONSTER to one YG mode. CHOOM is performance-command hip-hop. SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA hides a rude acronym inside bright delivery. I LIKE IT opens the windows with melodic pop. MOON uses Southern-trap minimalism and vampire cinema. The same six active performers keep their identities while the production changes rooms.

The second world tour is a six-person production built around a seven-person group

The 2026–27 CHOOM world tour opened in Seoul and expanded across five continents. The practical labor is six-person: formations, line distribution, solo stages and transitions have all been rebuilt around the active lineup. The accurate sentence remains awkward because reality is awkward: BABYMONSTER are seven and currently working as six.

Rami’s health details beyond official notices are private. A tracker can document absence dates and affected releases without diagnosing her, predicting a return or treating every company silence as a coded announcement. The member profile preserves her place and stops the current-era video list where participation stops.

Why seven-member identity still matters

A health hiatus can tempt companies and fans to solve discomfort by talking only about the active formation. That makes schedules easier to describe and history easier to damage. BABYMONSTER’s current six-person work deserves exact credit for rebuilt lines, choreography and touring load. Rami’s official membership deserves the same accuracy. “Seven members, six active performers” is not awkward writing to be polished away; it is the fact the archive has to hold.

The group’s three visible lineup periods also change how Reacts connect. A BATTER UP performance should not link Ahyeon as a participant when she is absent. A SHEESH file belongs to all seven. CHOOM-era objects connect the active six while the hub keeps Rami’s profile present. Relationship accuracy is not a punishment or popularity vote. It tells a reader who made the exact object being reviewed.

Seven voices need more than seven introductions

The long-term musical challenge is development. YG can introduce each member through a recognizable color, but a catalog becomes durable when those colors change under pressure. Ruka’s restraint, Pharita’s polish, Asa’s cadence, Ahyeon’s range, Rami’s weight, Rora’s warmth and Chiquita’s brightness should not harden into seven permanent assignments. Songs need to let one member surprise another role without making the whole lineup anonymous.

CHOOM’s extended rollout helps because different files expose different labor. A cinematic music video sells scale. A performance version tests formations. A brighter melodic release reveals whether tone survives without the usual heavy frame. The site keeps those uploads separate so praise and criticism remain attached to what the camera actually showed.

Touring while the formation changes

A world tour built for six active members inside a seven-member group is a production problem before it is a fandom slogan. Lines, costume changes, dance spacing, live-band cues and recovery time all shift. The six deserve credit for carrying that rebuilt workload. Rami deserves privacy rather than a countdown. Any later seven-member return would require another practical rebuild, not simply an empty spot filled at the next chorus.

What I want from the next era

I want one title track that trusts contrast more than volume: a real verse, a chorus that develops, rap writing with internal consequence and vocal lines that reveal why these seven tones were selected. Keep the performance scale, but let silence become part of the threat. BABYMONSTER have already proved they can enter loudly. The next proof should be that the room stays focused when they lower their voices.

International fans should not need detective training

YG’s official notices, artist pages and video channels should make roster, participation, release type and current schedule easy to follow. Fans should not have to compare thumbnails to learn whether a file is six- or seven-member, or rely on rumor accounts to distinguish a health hiatus from a lineup change. This hub keeps those labels visible and dates the evidence so later updates can correct the record without erasing the earlier chapter.

The hub is a map, not a pile of cards

Every member card points to one canonical person profile and uses that person’s real local photograph. Every React card points to one exact upload and uses its own locally stored official-video still. Featured image, first hero, landing card, Open Graph and Twitter image share the same attachment for that destination. The rule prevents a group photo from impersonating seven people and stops repeated thumbnails from making different reviews look like duplicate posts.
