Before SEVENTOEIGHT
Before SCOOL, Chiwon had already debuted in the Taiwanese group ALL IN 5 under the stage name Kayden. He ranked second on Be The One, debuted in 2021, and left ALL IN 5 in late 2023. That prior experience made him the obvious leader for a group trying to learn Korean promotions while half its biography was still written in Mandarin.
SCOOL
Chiwon competed on the Korean-Taiwanese survival show SCOOL and earned a place in the final team. Survival shows love to compress years of training into one dramatic ranking. The profile matters because the person did not begin when the cameras did.
SEVENTOEIGHT debut
The group pre-released “PDSR (Please Don’t Stop the Rain)” before debuting officially with “DRIP&DROP” on July 28, 2025. Chiwon entered a six-member active lineup with Chiwon, M, EXXI, Kyojun, Jagger, and D’om. The group promotes from Korea while keeping a strong Taiwan-based identity.
He looks calm because somebody has to. Chiwon has already survived one televised selection, one debut, one departure, and another survival show. The steadiness in his singing is not accidental.
Two survival programs and two debuts
Chiwon’s career did not begin with SCOOL. He first competed on the Taiwanese program Be The One, finished second and debuted with ALL IN 5 on December 31, 2021 under the stage name Kayden. His departure from that group in December 2023 closed one chapter but also meant he entered TEN Entertainment with real recording, stage and promotion experience.
On SCOOL, he finished first in the final ranking. That result matters beyond the trophy language of a survival show: it made the oldest, most experienced finalist the public center of the new team’s formation story. SEVENTOEIGHT later named him leader and main vocalist, roles that connect the ranking narrative to the work he performs after the cameras leave.
Leadership across Taiwan and Korea
SEVENTOEIGHT is a Taiwanese-Korean project whose members promote in an industry and language environment that is not native to most of the lineup. KBS World’s debut coverage emphasized the members’ Korean study and the pressure of beginning promotions in Seoul. Chiwon’s leadership therefore includes more than introductions and ending ments. He is helping translate prior experience into routines the whole team can use.
His calm delivery is part of that public role, but it should not be mistaken for a lack of ambition. The group’s stated goal at debut was longevity rather than a single viral moment. A leader who has already experienced the rise and end of one group has unusually concrete reasons to take that goal seriously.
PDSR and DRIP&DROP
“PDSR (Please Don’t Stop the Rain)” arrived as the pre-release on July 15, 2025. Its guitar-led, gentler arrangement introduced SEVENTOEIGHT through vocal blend and the wish to preserve a shared moment. Chiwon’s main-vocal role is easiest to understand here because the track leaves room for sustained tone and phrasing rather than hiding every transition behind impact production.
“DRIP&DROP,” released with the first single album on July 28, changes the pressure. The deep-house base and faster presentation frame attraction as something immediate and forceful. Kstyle’s official-image coverage grouped Chiwon with M and Kyojun as the softer-charisma side of the concept, which helps explain how his restrained presence functions inside a lineup built from contrasting member images.
