Why 728?
The group name uses seven as a symbol of luck and eight as a symbol of infinity. The company’s explanation adds that 728 represents strength and determination, with the members and fans moving toward an unlimited future together. It is a lot of meaning for three digits, but at least the group debuted on July 28. They committed to the bit.
The fandom name EECH uses the sound of the Chinese phrase for “together.” That fits a group split across Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea, with fans following in several languages from the beginning.
SCOOL built the lineup
SEVENTOEIGHT came from the 2024 SBS M and TEN Entertainment survival show SCOOL, a Korean-Taiwanese project. The final team initially included Park Jinwoo, also known as Andy. He left before debut on June 20, 2025. The active lineup became Chiwon, M, EXXI, Kyojun, Jagger, and D’om.
The lineup is unusual because none of the active members are Korean. Chiwon, M, Kyojun, Jagger, and D’om are Taiwanese, while EXXI is Malaysian. That means the members were learning the Korean idol system, Korean language, and each other at the same time. The debut showcase comments about language difficulty were not cute filler. They were the actual job description.
PDSR first, then DRIP&DROP
The pre-release “PDSR (Please Don’t Stop the Rain)” arrived July 15, 2025 with a softer guitar-led sound. “DRIP&DROP” followed on July 28 as the harder dance title track. Putting both on the debut single was smart. One showed vocals and sentiment. The other showed whether the group could survive a stage.

What makes them interesting
Chiwon brings prior debut experience and leadership. M adds height and a warm dance line. EXXI has the deepest technical résumé, including championship dance experience, music production, guitar, and piano. Kyojun brings athlete stamina after switching from competitive track. Jagger has theater training. D’om entered as a working dance instructor and choreographer while still being the youngest member.
That background keeps the group from feeling like six contestants whose only biography is the same television show. They arrived from different routes. The challenge now is building a catalog large enough to show those differences.
Former member
Park Jinwoo / Andy ranked seventh on SCOOL and was part of the pre-debut lineup. His departure was announced June 20, 2025, before the official debut. He belongs in the group timeline but is not part of the active six-member lineup.
