Career

In KATSEYE

Megan is one of the members who makes KATSEYE’s formations work. She finishes shapes, controls transitions, and can switch from technical precision to playful performance without a visible reset.

Background and training

Megan Meiyok Skiendiel was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, in a Chinese-Singaporean American family. She began dance training young and worked across styles that require different kinds of control, including jazz, contemporary, ballet, and hip-hop. That range mattered once she entered the HYBE and Geffen development system: instead of learning movement from zero, she had to adapt existing technique to idol-style formations, camera blocking, vocal performance, and team synchronization.

Dance experience did not make the Dream Academy process automatic. The project evaluated trainees in changing combinations, and a strong individual still had to prove that she could support another member’s focal moment. Megan’s advantage was repeatability. She could learn quickly, finish lines, and retain detail while the mission structure kept changing around her.

Dream Academy and the final lineup

In 2023, Megan competed in The Debut: Dream Academy, the survival project that created KATSEYE. She advanced through performance missions and was selected for the final six-member group with Daniela, Lara, Manon, Sophia, and Yoonchae. The lineup combined different nationalities and training histories inside one global-pop team built with K-pop development methods.

The later documentary Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE gave additional context to the process, including the physical and emotional strain behind short evaluation stages. Megan’s footage is most useful when read as a record of adaptation: polished dance skill was the starting point, not the finished job.

Debut era and growth

KATSEYE debuted in 2024 with “Debut,” then followed with “Touch” and the EP SIS (Soft Is Strong). “Touch” became the group’s more significant early breakthrough because its compact choreography rewarded clean timing and individual expression. Megan’s precise transitions helped the formation remain readable while her facial performance kept the precision from looking mechanical.

As the group’s stages and catalog expanded, she also gained more room to show vocal color. Describing her only as a dancer misses the training arc: KATSEYE’s material asks members to sing through movement, manage live stamina, and switch rapidly between ensemble discipline and individual camera focus.

Dance, vocals, and group function

Megan is especially strong at finishing a movement all the way through the hands and feet, then releasing it quickly enough to meet the next count. She can make difficult choreography look casual, which is useful for a group whose image depends on polish without visible strain. Her flexibility creates memorable shapes, but musical timing is the more important skill because it supports the entire formation.

Her vocal role continues to develop alongside that performance work. She brings a clear, youthful tone and can maintain character while dancing at full intensity. Inside KATSEYE, that combination makes her a stabilizer rather than a member defined by a single position label.
