Book Overview

The heroic age is dying in the throne room

The book opens with a castle holding its breath. Fourteen-year-old Simon is hiding with a beetle while the Hayholt prepares for an old king to re-enter a throne room sealed for three years. Then the title object arrives: a dragon-slayer crying on a chair made from the dragon he killed. The heroic age is not beginning. It is dying in public, badly.

Series Position

Four published books, one original trilogy

The Dragonbone Chair is the first published volume. The original third narrative volume, To Green Angel Tower, is split into Parts I and II in the owned set, so this site tracks four physical books without pretending Tad Williams designed a four-novel story.

The architect with a soft spot for beautiful trouble

His JIN-style profile connects the odd jobs, art, radio, and rock-band years to DAW, the trilogy’s publishing history, the editors who helped him find his own voice, his broader catalog, and the official receipts behind “the book that ate my life.”
