Before ASC2NT
Karam was a child model before idol training, then debuted in XING as Rising and in DGNA/The Boss in 2010. Years in Korea and Japan gave him a catalog, acting and musical-theater credits, military service, and the deeply weird experience of becoming a rookie again in his thirties. Peak Time brought Karam, Injun and Jay back as Team 23:00, but a personal-photo controversy pushed them off the show just as viewers were rediscovering them. ASC2NT became the chapter they built after the edit stopped.
Music, performance and work
As ASC2NT leader and main vocalist, Karam holds the emotional center of “LOVE ME DO,” “Sweet Devil,” “DON’T MOVE” and the later five-member releases. His voice carries lived-in control rather than trainee-school perfection. He also understands Japanese promotion, theater timing and the unglamorous work of keeping a restarted career moving. Calling this a “second chance” is too tidy; it is a third or fourth professional life assembled from pieces that refused to stay buried.
Solo career
Karam has a formal solo music catalog in addition to his group work. He made his Japanese solo debut on June 8, 2018 with the physical single Rise Up. The release is not a fan-uploaded cover or a unit track: Japanese retail catalog records list Karam as the artist and identify RISE UP as a solo single. That distinction is why this same canonical page belongs on both the member and artist carousels.
His solo chapter sits between DGNA’s Japan-centered career and ASC2NT’s restart. It also connects naturally to his stage work, where he built experience carrying songs without a five-member formation around him. ASC2NT remains his active group, while Rise Up is the receipt that establishes a separate music identity.
ASC2NT from 2024 through 2026
ASC2NT debuted on May 7, 2024 with the single album Expecting Tomorrow and its title track “Love Me Do.” The name combines ascent with the number two, framing the group as a new upward chapter rather than pretending its experienced members had no past. Karam, Injun and Jay brought DGNA history; Reon and Kyle entered the new team alongside them.
The group followed with Conversion Part.1 in October 2024 and continued building a catalog around live vocals and mature performance. In 2025, Injun ended his group activities after a health hiatus, and Hyowon joined the lineup. Karam remained leader through the change. “Replay” opened the group’s Four Seasons series and showed a more reflective color before the next album cycle.
ASC2NT entered 2026 as a five-member group consisting of Karam, Jay, Reon, Kyle and Hyowon. The first mini album STILL : I and the single “Green Light, Yellow Light, Red Light” expanded the seasonal project. Karam and Jay also represented the group as celebrity guests during Seoul Fashion Week while Reon, Kyle and Hyowon walked the runway. Later releases included “Winter Time Has Come,” confirming that ASC2NT was still recording rather than existing only as a nostalgia project.
The panda side quest
Karam loves cooking, soccer and bowling, once played midfield for celebrity team FC MEN, and remains an extremely committed TVXQ fan. U-Know inspired him to become a singer; pearl red is his favorite color for the same fandom reason. He also sleeps with a Rilakkuma plushie. A grown leader can survive multiple debuts and still need the bear. Correct.

The veteran job without the nostalgia trap
Karam entered ASC2NT with years of XING, DGNA and Peak Time history already attached to every search result. That experience gives the group something useful: stage judgment that does not need a rookie camera to discover it. It also creates a trap. If every profile treats ASC2NT as a DGNA reunion with two younger assistants, the new group never gets permission to become its own thing.
As leader and main vocalist, Karam helps turn experience into present-tense work. The point is not that an older idol automatically performs better. The point is that repeated debuts teach a person where nerves hide, how live arrangements fail and why a camera rehearsal is not the same as an audience. ASC2NT benefits when that knowledge supports Reon, Kyle and later Hyowon without making the stage feel divided into seniors and newcomers.
What to listen for
Karam makes the most sense inside the full group arrangement, where the veteran vocal weight, younger-member colors and dance line have to share one song instead of taking turns presenting résumés. Compare the brighter debut with the darker “Sweet Devil,” then follow the lineup split. The contrast shows which qualities belonged to the member and which belonged to the era’s production.

Karam’s leadership is continuity work
A leader in a second-chance group cannot rely on the usual “oldest trainee keeps everyone organized” script. Karam has to carry history without letting history dominate every room. He understands what it means to promote when attention is thin, rebuild after a long gap and meet fans who remember different versions of the same career. That knowledge matters most when it becomes practical: stable live delivery, calm transitions and space for newer members to establish their own identities.
His main-vocal role gives ASC2NT an adult center without requiring every song to become a power-ballad demonstration. “LOVE ME DO” uses the warmth. “Sweet Devil” asks for more bite. “DON’T MOVE” needs authority, while “Replay” and “Still Rose” depend on restraint. The range is not about collecting high notes; it is about making several concepts sound like one group rather than unrelated comeback pitches.
What the second debut changed
DGNA history proves Karam could debut. ASC2NT asks whether he can keep developing after the industry has already assigned him a nostalgia category. The current catalog answers better than a biography summary. He is not reenacting his twenties for an audience that missed them. He is leading a lineup with different ages, different first debuts and a member change that forced the group to redefine itself in public.

Karam before ASC2NT was already several careers
Karam debuted with DGNA in 2010 and promoted in Korea and Japan, which means ASC2NT did not begin with basic questions about whether he could handle a stage. It began with a harder one: what does an experienced singer do when the industry treats survival itself as the hook? His earlier work supplies technique, language experience and an audience memory. The new group still has to justify itself with present music.
The Japanese chapter matters because DGNA built substantial activity under the Daikoku Danji name. That work should not be compressed into one foreign-promotion bullet. It trained Karam to sing, speak and perform across a different release system, and it explains why some listeners encountered ASC2NT through a career they had followed for more than a decade rather than through a rookie recommendation feed.
Peak Time and the cost of being rediscovered
Team 23:00 reminded viewers that Karam, Injun and Jay still possessed the vocal blend and stage instinct associated with DGNA. The attention came with the usual second-chance television machinery: the audience was invited to feel surprised that adults could still perform the work they had spent years learning. That framing helped visibility while revealing how quickly the industry declares a career absent when a major label stops placing it on television.
The withdrawal controversy then turned private images into a public career judgment. This profile does not pretend the episode never happened, and it does not replay humiliation for clicks. The relevant result is chronological: the team left the program, the renewed attention did not vanish completely and Karam later entered ASC2NT under New Ways. The finished music deserves more space than the scandal loop.
A main vocalist who knows where not to push
Karam’s strongest ASC2NT choices often involve restraint. A veteran singer can prove power by refusing to make every line a demonstration. LOVE ME DO uses warmth and openness. Sweet Devil asks him to darken the edge without chewing through the arrangement. DON’T MOVE requires authority after a lineup change. Replay and Still Rose rely on breath, pacing and the confidence to let quieter phrases remain quiet.
That range also stabilizes the other voices. He can prepare a chorus, finish a phrase so Kyle enters cleanly or reduce vibrato when a more direct tone suits Reon’s rhythmic section. Main vocalist is therefore structural work, not a trophy for the largest note. The page will continue judging how songs use that structure rather than measuring his career by decibel.
Leadership after the lineup changed
Injun’s health hiatus and exit forced ASC2NT to redraw both its emotional and musical picture. Karam could not solve the health situation or company contract, but he could help the current group perform without treating Hyowon as an awkward patch. The public evidence is in the stages: whether handoffs settle, whether five people look like a chosen formation and whether the veteran members make room for the newcomer to own his parts.
Good leadership in this context is continuity without denial. Original-lineup songs remain part of the history. Injun remains a former member, not an error to delete. Hyowon belongs to the current chapter, not an asterisk. Karam’s role is strongest when the audience can feel all three facts without the performance becoming a lecture about personnel administration.
The image and tracker standard
Karam’s canonical portrait is a distinct real local file used for this profile’s hero, featured image, card and social preview. ASC2NT videos keep separate release frames. That separation prevents an old DGNA photograph or generic group crop from becoming his permanent identity, and it lets readers recognize whether a card points to the person or a specific song.
The YouTube tracker routes original and current lineup videos according to actual participation. It preserves official upload dates so every React can sit one to three days later rather than inheriting a batch date. Future solo, musical, collaboration or acting work will appear here when the credit is verified. The page will not manufacture an independent release from a fancam or convert every reunion photo into a comeback.
What a useful next chapter would sound like
Karam does not need material that constantly announces experience with grand strings and inspirational lyrics. He needs songs that trust it: melodies with dynamic shape, harmonies that use the group’s different career ages and live arrangements where stability creates tension instead of merely proving professionalism. Adult does not have to mean slow, beige or respectable.
ASC2NT already offers that possibility when it stops staring at the novelty of redebut. Karam can be warm, sharp, playful and severe across the catalog. The next strong release will give those colors a specific musical reason to coexist. Until then, this profile keeps the evidence current and refuses both lazy nostalgia and the equally lazy idea that a new logo erased everything he learned before it.
Karam’s facts are not the analysis
Birth name, birthday, position and former group establish identity. They do not explain why a phrase works. Karam’s profile therefore returns to sound: breath entering a restrained line, consonants creating authority, vibrato reduced when the melody needs directness and posture remaining available after the note. Those choices can be checked across more than one performance, which makes the praise stronger than another declaration that he is legendary.
The same evidence allows criticism. Experience does not guarantee that every ad-lib helps, that every dramatic expression fits or that every arrangement uses him well. A respectful profile can say when production leans too heavily on veteran gravitas or places a climax where the song has not earned it. Karam’s career is sturdy enough to survive specific opinions.
His relationships also remain exact. DGNA material belongs to that group history, ASC2NT material belongs to the lineup that recorded it and any verified solo work belongs to Karam. A Japanese release under the Daikoku Danji name is not an ASC2NT precursor invented after the fact. Chronology connects the careers without claiming one brand owned everything before it.
The useful bottom line is that Karam converted recognition into current labor. He did not simply return, receive applause and stop. He recorded new material, led through a lineup change and adapted his voice to songs that were not written as DGNA reenactments. The archive will keep judging that present-tense work.
Karam’s sources should therefore distinguish official biography, release credit, broadcaster footage and retrospective reporting. A fan archive can help locate older Japanese material, but the original label, program or artist account should anchor the date whenever it survives. Several stage names and markets make copied biographies especially prone to circular mistakes. One wrong year can travel through ten profile sites until repetition starts looking like proof.
The profile also keeps his career human without pretending access to his private self. Leadership, vocal decisions and public statements can be analyzed. Dorm mythology, imagined regret and personality claims built from edited clips cannot. Karam has spent enough years being packaged by entertainment systems. The archive can have a voice without claiming ownership of the person behind the performance.
Current work gets the final word. Always.
