Early life and training
JUNKYU trained for years, competed on MIXNINE, and then entered YG Treasure Box. His path is less overnight discovery than stubborn continuation through multiple public evaluations.

Pre-debut · earning the lineup
YG Treasure Box asked trainees to compete across vocals, rap, dance and audience response. The final plan changed repeatedly—from separate TREASURE and MAGNUM units, to TREASURE 13, to one twelve-member group—but JUNKYU remained part of the project that finally debuted.
2020–2021 · The First Step
TREASURE debuted with “BOY” on August 7, 2020 and released the First Step series at unusually fast speed. These stages established JUNKYU’s base identity before the group had enough songs to specialize.
2022–2023 · ten-member reboot
After MASHIHO and BANG YE DAM left in November 2022, the group reorganized as ten. REBOOT and its units gave the remaining members more space, more credits and more responsibility. In 2023 he led T5’s “MOVE” as a writer and composer as well as a performer. From 2025 into the NEW WAV handoff, he shared a leadership period with ASAHI. His producer identity is now part of how the group explains itself.
