Before HANA
MOMOKA was born in Tokyo and competed on Produce 101 Japan The Girls before No No Girls. That earlier public audition history matters: audiences had already watched her come close to one debut, carry the rejection, and return with a sharper sense of who she wanted to be.
No No Girls
MOMOKA entered CHANMINA and BMSG’s audition project as one of the trainees asked to show more than technical competence. The program’s entire argument was that women rejected by conventional systems could become more compelling artists once the supposedly “wrong” parts stopped being edited out. MOMOKA survived that process and was selected for HANA’s seven-member final lineup on January 12, 2025.
HANA career
HANA officially debuted with “ROSE” on April 2, 2025. The group’s sound leaves room for individual tone, live delivery, and the hip-hop/R&B instincts encouraged by CHANMINA. MOMOKA quickly became recognizable for rapper · vocalist · songwriter.
“I Got Your Back” with ILLIT
In July 2026, MOMOKA joined JISOO as a featured performer and lyric contributor on ILLIT’s “I Got Your Back.” The collaboration placed HANA’s rougher vocal and rap textures inside ILLIT’s bright magical-girl pop-rock world. It worked well enough that the comment sections immediately turned into HANA recruitment booths.

Performance identity
MOMOKA brings a rapper’s timing and a performer’s awareness of the camera. She can sharpen a bright track without hijacking it, then switch into a more aggressive HANA performance without looking like she changed personalities. On “I Got Your Back,” her rhythm gives the collaboration the jolt that keeps it from becoming pure sugar.
