Early life and training

DOYOUNG entered YG young and spent years training before YG Treasure Box. He also appeared in the YG trainee team shown during the company battle on Stray Kids, giving viewers an early look at the dancer he would become.

The common mistake is to compress every TREASURE member into “survival-show trainee.” The show was the public gate, not the entire education. Training length, starting skill and the reason each member stayed visible were different. For DOYOUNG, the useful thread is continuity: the qualities visible before debut are still present, but they now carry the weight of six years onstage.

Career

T5 made the dance line impossible to file as background

In 2023, TREASURE introduced T5 with Junkyu, Jihoon, Yoon Jaehyuk, Doyoung, and So Junghwan. The unit’s single “MOVE” gave Doyoung a smaller formation and a performance built around control, body lines, and direct camera work. In a ten-member stage, a dancer can support the architecture without owning every transition. T5 removed that hiding place.

The unit also clarified his vocal function. Doyoung is not positioned as TREASURE’s largest vocalist, but his lighter tone and clean delivery keep melodic passages mobile. “MOVE” needed the members to sound sleek rather than heavy. His voice and dance style served the same idea: controlled momentum instead of brute force.

T5 remains a TREASURE unit, not a separate group profile and not proof of a solo career. It belongs here because it changed the amount of responsibility visible in Doyoung’s work.

What six years of stage work changed

Early Doyoung performances emphasized precision and youthful brightness. By the REBOOT, PLEASURE, and NEW WAV eras, the same strengths look less like trainee polish and more like pacing. He knows when to finish a line sharply, when to soften into the next formation, and when a facial expression should carry through after the camera begins leaving him.

That development matters in TREASURE because the group’s songs can change focus quickly between rap, vocals, dance breaks, and large ensemble hooks. A member who remains visually active without competing with the current center helps the entire performance read more clearly. Doyoung is often part of that connective tissue.

Consistency is not the same as invisibility. The most useful fancam question is not whether he receives the largest moment. It is whether the formation loses clarity when he is removed from it. Across years of tour and comeback footage, his timing repeatedly helps answer that question.

NEW WAV is a current chapter, not a decorative update

TREASURE released its fourth mini album NEW WAV on June 1, 2026. The four-track project includes “IF I,” “ZOOM ZOOM,” “NALLY-NA (HYUNHAYO),” and “DANGER.” YG described “NEW” as a new chapter and “WAV” as a lossless-audio reference for showing the group’s unfiltered character.

In a 2026 interview, Doyoung explained the album as a determination to fight against the self, move beyond personal limits, and show a stronger side of the group. That comment is more useful than calling the era merely “mature.” It frames improvement as an internal contest rather than a costume change.

The official record also shows that the era continued into TREASURE THE STAGE 2026 NEW WAV performances in Seoul and Japan. His current status is therefore active member, 2020 to present. The profile should not freeze at YELLOW or treat the 2026 album as a future plan now that both the release and live chapter exist.

Skills and stage identity

Dance is the cleanest entry point. His lines are controlled, quick and camera-aware, but he also handles vocal parts without looking like the choreography has stolen his air. T5 let that balance become the main event.

The 2025 PLEASURE era also shows how TREASURE’s current lineup has matured beyond the survival-show labels attached to them as teenagers. DOYOUNG is no longer merely “the young dancer.” He is part of the connective tissue that keeps a large group readable when vocals, rap, and formation changes are competing for attention.
