Stray Kids does not ask whether a sound is tasteful before throwing it down the stairs. That is part of the appeal. Sirens, drills, brass stabs, cartoon effects, distorted bass and one suspiciously confident whisper may all report for duty before the first chorus.
The chaos works because the group knows its own grammar. Under the noise are clean rhythmic choices, recurring ideas about identity and pressure, and eight performers who understand exactly when a song needs teeth and when it needs a warm hand on the shoulder.
Meet the members
Bang Chan
Leader · producer · vocalist · rapper. Australian-raised, relentlessly responsible and one third of 3RACHA. He helped choose the original team and still sounds like he personally checks whether every STAY drank water.
Lee Know
Dancer · vocalist. Former professional backup dancer, surgical with details and committed to affection delivered through threats involving air fryers. His dry humor and clean lines keep the group pleasantly off balance.
Changbin
Rapper · producer. A rapid-fire delivery, dense internal rhythm and a voice built like reinforced concrete. Also one third of 3RACHA and living proof that aegyo can survive inside a man shaped like a gym membership.
Hyunjin
Dancer · rapper · visual artist. Long lines, dramatic face control and a performance style that treats every camera like a personal grievance. His painting and self-written music expose a quieter interior.
Han
Rapper · vocalist · producer. The third point of 3RACHA, able to switch from sharp rap to high melodic lines without filing paperwork. His writing often turns anxiety and isolation into compact emotional ambushes.
Felix
Dancer · rapper. Australian-raised, freckled and equipped with a bass voice that has personally recruited half the fandom. Offstage softness makes the sonic trap more effective.
Seungmin
Vocalist. Clear tone, disciplined live singing and the conversational instincts of somebody quietly waiting to roast his friends. He gives the group’s busiest tracks a melodic spine.
I.N
Vocalist · youngest member. A distinctive bright tone, trot roots and a smile that survived years of seven older members treating his personal space as community property.

Why “Stray Kids”? The name grew from the idea of young people who refuse the ordinary path and search for a place of their own. Bang Chan was unusually involved in forming the trainee team, which makes the name feel less like a marketing label and more like the original operating principle.
The production engine
3RACHA
Bang Chan, Changbin and Han released music as 3RACHA before Stray Kids debuted. Their writing and production involvement became the group’s most important continuity. They do not work alone, and outside collaborators matter, but the core members are not being handed a random concept every comeback and asked to smile near it.
That consistency explains why the catalog can jump between trap, rock, EDM, boom bap, pop and sentimental balladry without losing its accent.

Identity under pressure
The loud songs attract attention, but Stray Kids keeps returning to the same human questions. Who decides whether you are progressing fast enough? What happens when ambition becomes exhaustion? Can a group build success without letting the industry define the shape of it?
“My Pace,” “Grow Up,” “Side Effects,” “Social Path,” “Cover Me” and “Lonely St.” live in different genres. They are still arguing with pressure.
The unit system
3RACHA
Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. Production, rap, writing and the original self-made spine. Their unit music is often less interested in behaving for a general audience.
Dance Racha
Lee Know, Hyunjin and Felix. Precision, texture, body control and the reason performance videos are required viewing.
Vocal Racha
Seungmin and I.N in the current eight-member structure. Clean melodic contrast inside songs that occasionally sound like heavy machinery discovered self-esteem.
SKZ-PLAYER and SKZ-RECORD
Individual and unit releases gave members room to experiment outside formal album cycles. The projects later fed into the SKZ-REPLAY collections and made the group’s creative archive much larger than the title-track shelf.
History
2017: the survival show was not a normal audition
JYP’s Stray Kids program followed a team selected with Bang Chan’s input rather than constructing a lineup entirely through public voting. Lee Know and Felix were eliminated during the show, then restored before the finale. “Hellevator” arrived before official debut and already carried the group’s defining mix of pressure, frustration and vertical ambition.
2018 to 2019: the “I am” and “Clé” trilogies
I am NOT, I am WHO and I am YOU built the identity question. “District 9,” “My Pace” and “I am YOU” moved from defiance toward connection. The Clé series expanded the sound through “MIROH,” “Side Effects” and “Levanter.” “Side Effects” used abrasive psytrance and became a useful sorting hat: some listeners heard anxiety represented honestly, others heard a blender fighting a migraine.
Woojin left the group in October 2019 for reasons JYP described as personal. The remaining members re-recorded material and continued as eight.
2020 to 2021: God’s Menu changed the scale
GO LIVE and “God’s Menu” turned the group’s self-described “mala taste” into a global signature. The kitchen metaphor was loud, funny and accurate. “Back Door” followed with cleaner funk. NOEASY answered criticism directly through “Thunderous,” while “DOMINO,” “CHEESE” and “Red Lights” showed how many kinds of trouble could fit on one album.
2022 to 2023: Billboard records and genre expansion
ODDINARY, MAXIDENT, 5-STAR and ROCK-STAR debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “MANIAC,” “CASE 143,” “S-Class” and “LALALALA” kept the group recognizable without repeating one production template. “CASE 143” even translated infatuation into an emergency code because ordinary romance was apparently underdressed.
2024 to 2025: stadium logic
ATE brought “Chk Chk Boom” and a Deadpool-and-Wolverine cameo circus. HOP highlighted individual tracks. KARMA and DO IT continued a run of Billboard No. 1 debuts, while the dominATE tour expanded into stadiums across multiple continents. The group reached the point where “can this fill a bigger venue?” stopped being a useful question.
2026: RUN IT and THIS & THAT
“RUN IT” arrived June 24 as a pre-release written and produced with 3RACHA participation. It framed endurance as an anthem rather than a confession. The RUN IT world tour opened with five sold-out KSPO Dome dates and made Stray Kids the first overseas male act scheduled for a standalone concert at Japan’s National Stadium.
The tenth mini album THIS & THAT is scheduled for August 7, 2026. JYP announced that all eight tracks were written and produced by 3RACHA. As of this page update, that is an upcoming release, not a review pretending to have heard the future.
The commercial record
Stray Kids built an unprecedented run of consecutive No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200. The number matters, but the more interesting part is that the group reached that scale without sanding away the production habits that initially made people call the music noisy. Success did not make them quieter. It bought them larger speakers.

Former member
Woojin
Member from the pre-debut team through October 2019. Woojin was part of Stray Kids’ original nine-member lineup and early vocal structure. JYP announced his departure and contract termination citing personal circumstances. The group continued as eight and re-recorded several earlier tracks for SKZ2020 and SKZ2021.
He belongs in the history file as a former member. He is not part of the current lineup, and his absence does not require rewriting the albums on which he actually performed.
Fandom file
STAY
The idea is simple: “You make Stray Kids stay.” The fandom anniversary is August 1 and is celebrated through STAYweeK content. The official light stick is the Nachimbong, named from the Korean word for compass. A group of strays gave its audience navigation equipment. Cute. Slightly threatening.
