Chiquita
Chiquita BABYMONSTER is Riracha Phondechaphiphat, the Thai maknae who reached YG’s planned lineup after only months inside the company. That does not mean three months magically created an idol. It means YG saw a young performer with enough instinct, nerve and vocal color to gamble on before the polishing was finished.

Before YG: the short trainee headline needs context
Chiquita auditioned from Thailand and joined YG in 2021. The company later emphasized that she reached the BABYMONSTER project after roughly three months as a trainee – the shortest route into the planned lineup. That fact gets repeated because it is deliciously dramatic, but it can create the wrong picture. She did not debut three months after learning music existed. Dance clips, childhood performance practice and a family already familiar with entertainment were part of the road before Seoul.
Her older brother Copper had already worked in Thai entertainment, which gave her a real person – not a motivational poster – to watch. Still, moving countries at twelve, training in another language and being evaluated beside trainees with four to six years in the building was her own problem to solve.
RaeRae warning: “natural talent” is often what people call preparation they did not personally witness. Chiquita has scary instincts. She also trained for years between joining YG and the official seven-member debut.
THE FEARLESS FILE
Why YG kept using that word
Yang Hyun-suk described Chiquita as fearless during the pre-debut rollout. Company praise should always be read as company praise, but the performance evidence supports the useful part of it. She commits quickly. Her facial expressions do not ask permission, and she attacks a camera as if being the youngest member is trivia somebody else can worry about.
That nerve is not the same as being finished. The interesting part is watching technique catch up with instinct in public: cleaner breath choices, more controlled power and less need to prove every beat belongs to her.
THE VOICE FILE
Bright tone with a sharp little edge
Chiquita’s voice is clear and youthful without being weightless. She can carry bright melodic lines, then add a slightly nasal bite that helps her cut through dense YG production. Her tone works especially well when a song needs mischief rather than another full-force belt.
She is also comfortable switching jobs. A vocal line, a rap-flavored phrase and a dance break can arrive in the same performance without looking like three separate homework assignments. That flexibility is why pinning her to one rigid “position” misses the actual job.
The Lisa comparison – and where it stops helping
Chiquita is Thai, joined YG young and has named BLACKPINK’s Lisa as a role model. Of course people made the comparison before the introduction video finished buffering. The connection is real and meaningful: Lisa proved a Thai performer could survive YG’s system and become globally visible.
But “the next Lisa” is lazy after the first sentence. Chiquita’s vocal color, family background, age at debut and group role are different. A role model can open a door without turning the next person through it into a sequel.

- Maknae: Chiquita is BABYMONSTER’s youngest member. This does not make every facial expression evidence that the older members raised her in a basket.

Earth Ox: Ox years are associated with endurance, steady work and stubborn follow-through. Earth makes the energy more practical. Behind the fearless maknae edit is somebody who left home young and kept showing up in a system built to find reasons to cut trainees.
The fun combination: Aquarius changes the choreography in her head because the original emotion was not big enough. Earth Ox rehearses the changed expression until it lands on the correct camera. Chaos, but scheduled.
