BABYMONSTER · VOCALIST · THE VOICE FILE

Rami

Official socials

Shin Ha-ram entered the public BABYMONSTER file as Haram, then debuted as Rami with the kind of voice that makes people stop arguing about positions and simply listen. She can belt, bend into R&B phrasing, hold a harmony without disappearing, and make a cover sound like somebody remembered to give it a pulse.

Before the monster name

Rami was not dropped into a vocal booth fully formed. She worked as a child model from around age two, which explains why cameras never seemed completely foreign to her, but modeling is not vocal training. The singer fans recognize came through years of lessons, evaluations and the very public pressure cooker YG used to introduce BABYMONSTER.

YG revealed her as Haram in January 2023. The pre-debut material made the label’s argument quickly: this was the member to watch when a song needed texture instead of only volume. Her covers of Mario’s “Let Me Love You” and Jazmine Sullivan’s “Pick Up Your Feelings” became early proof because she did not merely hit notes; she shaped them.

Before debut, YG changed her stage name from Haram to Rami. The new name separated the public identity from her birth name without erasing it. So, yes, old clips and older fan files say Haram. They are not talking about a mystery eighth member.

THE VOICE FILE

Why her tone lands

Rami’s useful trick is contrast. Her lower register can sound smoky and settled, then the upper line opens without losing the emotional grain underneath it. That matters in a group built around forceful rap entrances, sharp choreography and choruses designed to arrive like a truck.

  • R&B phrasing: she slides around a line without smearing the lyric into mush.
  • Harmony: she can support another member instead of treating every shared line like an audition.
  • Belting: the power is obvious, but the cleaner work is how she approaches and leaves the note.
  • Live usefulness: a stable singer becomes group infrastructure when choreography gets mean.

PERFORMANCE FILE

Not a microphone stand

Calling Rami “the vocalist” can flatten the rest of her job. BABYMONSTER choreography asks for attack, facial control and stamina. Her dance is less about stealing the center with one explosive trick and more about staying musically connected while the formation keeps moving.

That balance is why her absence changes more than the line distribution. Six members can rearrange a stage – and they have – but a distinct voice affects the color of the entire song.

The health file, without turning her body into fandom property

On May 9, 2025, YG announced that Rami would miss BABYMONSTER’s Asia tour dates beginning in Singapore. The company said she had been receiving treatment while continuing activities despite persistent health problems, but doctors later recommended that she stop all activities and rest.

YG repeated in June 2025 that promotions would continue with six members because Rami still needed ample recovery time. BABYMONSTER’s 2026 releases and current tour activity have continued as six. As of August 9, 2026, there is no confirmed official return date on YG’s English or Korean BABYMONSTER notices.

RaeRae rule: concern is normal. Inventing a diagnosis, treating a parent’s social-media photo like a medical chart, or promising an OT7 date the agency has not announced is not concern. It is fan fiction wearing a lab coat.

Career checkpoints

Year Checkpoint Why fans keep it
2023 Introduced as Haram through YG’s BABYMONSTER rollout The vocal covers established her tone before the official group catalog existed.
2023 Stage name changed to Rami Old “Haram” clips and current “Rami” profiles belong to the same person.
2024 Official debut with BABYMONS7ER “SHEESH,” “LIKE THAT” and later group stages turned the evaluation voice into a working idol voice.
2024 DRIP era More material for fans to hear how she sits inside a fuller group catalog.
2025 Health hiatus announced The official record says rest and treatment – not a fan-invented scandal or departure.
2026 Group promotions continue as six Her membership remains part of the BABYMONSTER file while her health stays first.

FANDOM NOTES

Fandom notes and things the fact box misses

  • Old-name confusion: search both Rami and Haram when digging through pre-debut performances.
  • Voice-first reputation: her covers did a lot of the early fandom recruiting.
  • OT7 language: fans use it to mean all seven members, especially when discussing her absence.
  • Health boundaries: missing her does not create a right to private medical details.
  • The quiet member problem: edited content can make a calmer personality look blank. It is not the same thing.

RAERAE TAKE

The empty space has a sound

Rami is easiest to understand by listening to what changes when she is gone. The group still has big singers and can absolutely rearrange its stages. But her particular low warmth and R&B elasticity are not interchangeable parts in a warehouse.

I want the return because I want the voice back, obviously. I want the person healthy more. A comeback that costs somebody the ability to keep doing the work is not a comeback. It is a countdown with prettier lighting.

PANDA SIDE QUEST

Panda Side Quest: Libra scales, Fire Pig backbone

Libra is the air sign associated with balance, aesthetics and social awareness. In the fun version – not the “your birth date controls your tax return” version – it fits a singer whose strength lives in proportion: power without flattening the melody, expression without swallowing the group.

Fire Pig combines the Pig’s generous, persistent reputation with the Fire element’s warmth and intensity. Translation for western readers: soft does not mean flimsy. The zodiac cocktail says “kind face, stubborn battery,” which feels suspiciously useful for surviving years of evaluations.

Zodiac is a side quest, not a diagnosis. Her medical reality belongs to Rami and her doctors.
