Produce 101 Japan and JO1 history
Shosei trained in dance before Produce 101 Japan and reached JO1 through the final public vote. In the original eleven-member lineup, he brought a softer movement quality and a quieter personality that contrasted with the group’s louder variety instincts. After a 2025 hiatus and months of discussions about his future, he announced that he would end his JO1 activities; LAPONE set the contract end date as May 31, 2026.
JO1 debuted in March 2020 with PROTOSTAR and “Infinity.” The group’s scale means every member needs a distinct visual and musical function; Shosei has built his through fluid dance texture, understated delivery and a creative identity that often appeared in smaller details.
Music, performance and credited work
Shosei contributed dance, rap and vocals throughout JO1’s original eleven-member era. His official writing record includes “We Can Fly” with Syoya Kimata and Shion Tsurubo.
His JO1 history covers the group’s rise from PROTOSTAR through the releases promoted before his hiatus. He is not part of the current nine-member lineup, but he remains attached to the recordings, performances and group history created during his active years.
Acting, broadcasting and side quests
Shosei starred as Kohei Shinjo in the Short Program episode “Spring Call.” His public work also included dance-focused projects, fashion appearances and JO1 variety content.
In April 2026, Shosei published a message explaining that after approximately six months of reflection and discussions with the company, he had decided to end his activities with JO1. LAPONE confirmed that his activities and exclusive contract would conclude on May 31, 2026.

RaeRae take
Shosei often read as quiet because JO1 contains enough volume to qualify as weather. Watch the dancing instead: he shaped transitions, softened edges and made restraint visible. His exit belongs in the timeline plainly, without turning six years of work into either a scandal headline or a missing paragraph.
