Sunghoon arrived in K-pop with the posture of somebody who spent years being judged on blades. He is elegant, reserved, competitive, and occasionally much stranger than the prince styling initially suggests.
Early life and training
Before ENHYPEN, Park Sunghoon competed in figure skating for roughly a decade. He represented South Korea in international junior events and trained while also entering the idol system. The sports background matters. His lines are long, his balance is disciplined, and he understands how to finish movement for an audience at a distance.
I-LAND and career
Sunghoon placed sixth in the I-LAND finale. The show often framed him through visual elegance and skating history, but debut demanded a different kind of stamina. ENHYPEN choreography is grounded, fast, and camera-specific. He had to translate rink control into idol performance instead of merely carrying it over.
What to watch and listen for
Watch his posture and center work. Even aggressive choreography retains a clean spine and deliberate silhouette. Dark romantic concepts fit him easily, which is convenient because ENHYPEN owns approximately twelve warehouses of velvet and blood imagery.

The figure skater did not begin with a blank body
Park Sunghoon competed in figure skating for about a decade before becoming an idol. He trained and competed nationally, appeared internationally, and balanced time on the ice with trainee life. That background explains his line, balance, core control, and ability to make difficult positions look cleaner than they feel.
Skating did not automatically make idol dance easy. Blades, ice, landing mechanics, and continuous glide create different habits from grounded choreography. Sunghoon had to rebuild how he used weight and rhythm. The advantage was discipline. Repeating one movement until the body stops arguing was already normal.
He finished sixth in I-LAND and debuted with ENHYPEN in 2020. Early public attention often centered on the “ice prince” visual. That label is tidy and mostly useless. Sunghoon can appear reserved around strangers, then become competitive, dryly funny, and surprisingly loud once the group removes all possibility of dignity.
From 2021 to 2022 he co-hosted Music Bank with Jang Wonyoung. Weekly live broadcasting forced a different skill set: scripted timing, camera transitions, guest interaction, and smiling through the strange little accidents that music shows manufacture. Onstage with ENHYPEN, his strongest moments use extension, controlled turns, and an elegant line without making him perform figure skating cosplay forever.
