The leader arrived with a JYP training history, a failed Produce run, one completed group, and enough lived experience to recognize when survival-show optimism needs an adult in the room.

Birth name: Steven Kim / Kim Sangyeop

Born: January 17, 2000

From: South Korea, raised in Sydney, Australia

Role: Leader, main rapper

Group: AHOF

Debut: July 1, 2025

Before AHOF

Steven competed on Produce X 101 in 2019 and later debuted in LUMINOUS. He wrote and composed for that group before its 2025 disbandment. AHOF is not his first dream or his first contract. That makes his calm less mysterious.

What Steven brings to the music

His low rap tone gives the group weight, while his English and production background make him useful far beyond assigned lines. He performs like someone who already knows that a camera cannot rescue weak timing.

Fandom file

He is Korean-Australian, speaks English and Korean, trained alongside several now-established idols, and keeps the younger lineup from turning every dorm discussion into a field trip without permission.

Survival-show context

AHOF was formed through SBS’s Universe League. This profile keeps that history attached without reducing Steven to a final ranking. Competition footage explains the route into the group. It does not define every skill, relationship, or future release.

Universe League journey

Steven competed on Team Rhythm under WayV mentors Ten and Yangyang. His prior debut experience made him one of the rare contestants who could separate television panic from an actual performance problem. Team Rhythm won the Prism Cup, so his route into AHOF came through the team result rather than an individual rescue vote.

Leadership without the brochure

AHOF spans nearly ten years in age and several working languages. Steven is not simply the oldest man handed a title. He translates, understands recording vocabulary, and knows what failed management looks like because he lived through it. That history gives his leadership practical value.

From LUMINOUS to a second debut

Steven’s AHOF story is not a first-attempt fairytale. He previously debuted with LUMINOUS in 2021 after the group’s pre-debut period and carried that recording, touring and promotion experience into Universe League. When Team Rhythm won the Prism Cup in January 2025, he earned a second group debut rather than an introduction to the profession. F&F Entertainment’s current roster lists him among AHOF’s nine members, and the group formally debuted with WHO WE ARE on July 1, 2025.

That longer timeline explains why his leader role is functional. He can recognize when a rehearsal problem is musical, linguistic or simply fatigue, and he has already experienced the difference between debut publicity and sustainable group infrastructure. His Korean-Australian background also makes translation and cross-cultural communication part of the working skill set, not a decorative biography line.

Music and performance lane

Steven works primarily through rap, vocal support and group leadership. AHOF’s early releases ask the members to move between bright youth-pop, emotional pop-rock and harder performance framing, while his earlier LUMINOUS work gives him a contrasting catalog before the survival-show reset. None of that establishes a separate formal solo career, so this canonical page belongs in the Member directory only.
