The profile
The god who genuinely helps save Bell, deliberately gives Mord the means to hurt him, and calls the resulting trauma hero development because “morally indefensible but narratively effective” is apparently a management style.
Hermes returns to Orario unusually early and immediately starts asking about Bell. He recruits Asfi into Hestia’s rescue, uses Syr to reach Lyu and tests Freya’s boundaries. Those actions help save lives. They also establish that rescue is not his only agenda.
On Floor 18, he covertly encourages Mord and supplies the Hades Head. Later he speaks to Bell through the image and voice of his grandfather, pushing him back into the Black Goliath fight. The results are heroic. The manipulation remains manipulation.

What the War Game changes for Hermes
God · Broker, observer and professional complication · Alive
Hermes treats the War Game as politics, mythmaking and entertainment at the same time. He moves information, reads the divine audience and helps give Hestia access to options the Guild cannot officially endorse. Helpful remains an unstable category whenever Hermes is involved.
His fascination with Bell’s heroic trajectory makes him useful and dangerous. Hermes wants the rookie to survive, but he also wants the story of that survival to become larger. Volume 6 asks whether a person can be supported by somebody who keeps treating trauma as narrative development.
Celebration
He reads the divine room
Hermes understands Apollo’s appetite and the audience’s willingness to let spectacle cover coercion.
War Game
Rules become instruments
He helps broker the contest that gives Hestia a formal way to answer force with consequences.
Myth
Bell is still a story to him
Hermes’s support never fully stops being editorial; the god keeps arranging the conditions in which a hero can be watched becoming one.
