Hanyu, Zihao, Xinlong, Zeyu, Mingrui and Shuyang — six Chinese members, active official roster with group releases paused during individual projects.

Bottom line

BOY STORY is a six-member Chinese boy group developed by JYP China and NCC Entertainment: Hanyu, Zihao, Xinlong, Zeyu, Mingrui and Shuyang. The official JYP profile still lists all six in August 2026. Group releases have paused since the 2024 UP era while members pursue study, competition and other individual schedules; no official disbandment announcement replaces that roster.

The archive says “inactive group schedule” where evidence supports inactivity and refuses to invent a breakup.

A Chinese group with a Korean training system

BOY STORY were designed for the Chinese market through JYP’s training and production infrastructure. They are C-pop/Mandopop with K-pop-adjacent development, not a Korean group merely because JYP is involved.

Accurate geography makes the cross-border model more interesting, not less.

The six members

Hanyu, Zihao, Xinlong, Zeyu, Mingrui and Shuyang remain the names on JYP’s official profile. Their roles developed across years because the group entered public life unusually young.

A current profile must address that growth without preserving children as permanent branding.

The pre-debut series

“HOW OLD R U,” “Can’t Stop,” “Jump Up” and “Handz Up” introduced the members before the formal debut. The rollout made age a central hook while also documenting genuine performance development.

Looking back requires care: skill can be praised without romanticizing how young the performers were.

Enough and formal debut

BOY STORY officially debuted September 21, 2018 with Enough. The title framed determination through hip-hop energy and made the earlier singles part of one opening chapter.

The group’s later work matters because it shows whether that child-performer premise could mature.

I=U=WE and authorship

The I=U=WE period expanded the music and gave the members more room to participate in the work’s voice. Growth is most credible when lyrics, delivery and subject matter develop with the people performing them.

A long-running youth group needs adulthood to change the art, not only the styling.

Alpha

“Alpha” arrived February 3, 2024 with the Ji project and a harder, more self-defining performance frame. The six no longer look like children borrowing intensity; they understand how to distribute it.

The exact playlist MV receives one long React and routes to all six canonical profiles.

Pump !t Up

Released July 12, 2024 in the UP era, “Pump !t Up” turns confidence into kinetic release. Bounce, rap handoffs and full-group motion make the track feel communal rather than a solo flex repeated six times.

The exact playlist MV remains separate from English, stage and alternate versions.

The 2025 competition chapter

Hanyu, Zihao and Xinlong entered a new public competition environment in 2025, while other members’ study and individual schedules widened the gap between group releases.

Competition results belong on the relevant person profiles; they do not automatically rewrite BOY STORY’s official roster.

Current 2026 status

JYP continues to list BOY STORY and the official group page continues to list six members. At the same time, there has been no new full-group release since 2024 and some members have concurrent commitments.

The honest label is intact official roster with inactive or paused group scheduling.

Rant: localization cannot mean abandonment after launch

JYP’s corporate material likes BOY STORY as proof of global localization, but international listeners still face sparse translations, unclear schedules and almost no durable explanation of how concurrent projects affect the group.

If a company claims a global strategy, it owes the artists a global information trail.

RaeRae take

BOY STORY’s most compelling story is not that six children were surprisingly good. It is that six people kept developing until “Alpha” and “Pump !t Up” could sound inhabited rather than assigned.

The next chapter needs clarity as much as it needs music.

Image and card standard

Every hub, member and React uses a unique real local image with complete source, alt, caption, description, SEO and FileBird folder 25.

Member directory

  • Hanyu (涵予) — a steady leadership presence, rap delivery and performance maturity shaped by growing up publicly inside the group.
  • Zihao (梓豪) — a sharp dance and rap profile whose control makes difficult movement look less crowded.
  • Xinlong (鑫隆) — a focused dancer and rapper whose later competition work extended his identity beyond one group schedule.
  • Zeyu (泽宇) — a vocal and performance color that keeps the group’s force from becoming one unbroken texture.
  • Mingrui (明睿) — a vocalist and dancer whose bright response and increasingly grounded delivery connect youth to growth.
  • Shuyang (书漾) — a rapper, vocalist and original youngest member whose development is visible across the group’s long pre-teen-to-adult timeline.

Current status: six names remain official, group releases are paused

JYP’s current BOY STORY profile still lists Hanyu, Zihao, Xinlong, Zeyu, Mingrui and Shuyang. The official video page still ends with 2024’s “Pump !t Up,” while the members have moved through study, acting, competition programs and new project-group commitments. The accurate August 2026 description is an official six-member roster without an active group-release schedule—not disbanded, and not promoting normally.

On August 30, NCC announced that Mingrui would suspend entertainment activity for approximately two years to prioritize education and personal development. That is a dated individual hiatus inside an already quiet group period. It does not retroactively remove him from BOY STORY’s records, and it does not authorize the archive to invent a final group ending.

A Chinese group, not a Korean category error

BOY STORY are a Chinese group created for the Chinese market through JYP China and NCC Entertainment. Korean training and production infrastructure shaped the launch, but the members, language and primary market make the group C-pop/Mandopop. “K-pop-adjacent” can explain the operating model; it should never erase the country the work belongs to.

That cross-border structure is the interesting part. JYP exported a training system while NCC and Tencent-linked infrastructure handled a Chinese group’s local career. The result exposes both the possibility and the weakness of localization: a company can build polished performers for another market, then leave international fans unsure where official updates live once the launch cycle cools.

Six members who were introduced too young to stay frozen

Hanyu became the leader while still growing up inside the project. His rap, dance and speaking responsibility made him a structural center, but leadership should not require performing permanent certainty. The more useful adult reading asks how he negotiates the room now—how he starts a phrase, redirects energy and gives the next member space.

Zihao’s performance strength reads through detail. He can sharpen a formation without making precision feel bloodless. Xinlong combines dance attack, rhythm and beatbox instincts; his later competition exposure and project work belong on his own profile while every BOY STORY video keeps its exact six-member credit.

Zeyu’s vocal tone gives the group a melodic center that can soften its hip-hop frame without weakening it. Mingrui brings vocal brightness and adaptable performance energy; his new education hiatus is a present choice, not a reason to reduce his earlier work to childhood footage. Shuyang, the youngest, has the strongest claim to being released from the debut’s “kid group” shorthand. By 2026 all six are adults.

The Real! Project was a public growing-up machine

BOY STORY began releasing music in 2017 through the Real! Project: “HOW OLD R U,” “Can’t Stop,” “Jump Up” and “Handz Up” built toward formal debut. The title of the first single made age the headline before listeners could know much else. That strategy created instant curiosity and a long-term problem: every later comeback had to convince coverage that the members were no longer the children in the original press release.

The pre-debut series still matters musically. It documents the early balance of rap, youthful energy and performance ambition, and it shows how much technique was already being asked of them. The archive can respect the work without romanticizing an industry that turned childhood development into continuous public content.

Enough made the launch official

September 21, 2018’s Enough gathered the pre-debut route into an official debut chapter. The title track pushed the group toward a firmer hip-hop identity while keeping the direct, chant-ready energy that made live showcases readable. It was less a sudden beginning than a line drawn under a year of public rehearsal.

“Oh My Gosh” and “Too Busy,” the latter featuring Jackson Wang, expanded visibility without solving the central artistic question: what would BOY STORY sound like once the novelty of age stopped carrying the introduction? The answer had to come from member participation and a concept flexible enough to age with them.

I=U=WE turned growth into authorship

The I=U=WE material gave the members more room to connect writing and performance. That shift matters more than a generic “they matured” sentence. Growth became something they could put into the songs: ideas about self, team and audience carried by people whose identities had been marketed before they were old enough to define them publicly.

Member credits are not automatic proof of quality, but they change the relationship to the catalog. Hanyu, Zihao and Xinlong’s writing participation on later material, including “Pump !t Up,” means the confidence language is not only an adult producer imagining what young Chinese performers should say. The members have a hand on the frame.

“Alpha” refuses the permanent-child role

“Alpha” is strongest when it sounds less like dominance cosplay and more like a boundary. BOY STORY had spent years being introduced through youth; the 2024 song asks to be seen as performers who can define their own temperature. Darker styling alone would be a cheap shortcut. The conviction has to come from rhythm, gaze and the members’ comfort inhabiting the space.

The music video lets all six challenge the old frame, but their approaches are not identical. Some attack the beat; some make restraint feel more dangerous; vocal tone can change the same line from threat to self-command. The exact-video React follows those differences instead of awarding the concept points merely for replacing bright clothes with black ones.

“Pump !t Up” makes confidence collective

“Pump !t Up” is not a retreat from “Alpha.” It moves confidence out of solitary posing and into a group exercise. The hook asks bodies to move together, and the arcade-bright energy gives the six members permission to enjoy the skill they spent years proving. Fun is not less mature than severity.

The choreography works when each member’s contribution remains readable inside the shared momentum. A six-person formation can produce clean symmetry, but the memorable moments come from handoffs: who sparks the next run, who changes the groove and who makes the final chorus feel larger than the first. The video became the last official group MV listed by JYP as of this audit.

Competition projects do not rewrite the group

Several members entered new competition and project-group systems after BOY STORY’s 2024 releases. JYP’s own 2025 investor material describes BOY STORY activity diversifying through Boys II Planet-connected projects, including ALPHA DRIVE ONE and MODYSSEY. Those commitments are real career chapters with their own contracts and schedules.

They are not permission to relabel every old BOY STORY appearance. A project group can become a member’s most visible current work while BOY STORY remains the source group on the official profile. The member page connects both ecosystems; each exact video credits only the people and group represented in that upload.

Fandom file: BOSS and the problem of scattered updates

BOY STORY’s fandom is BOSS, often encountered through Chinese social platforms and the group’s “Dear Boss” language. The name gives international viewers a search route, but following the group has never been as simple as subscribing to one Korean channel. Weibo, Chinese video platforms, JYP’s Korean-hosted site and competition accounts carry different pieces.

That fragmentation becomes punishing during inactivity. Fans translate study notices, project schedules and company language while rumors fill every quiet space. The hub’s job is not to declare a secret breakup or promise a reunion. It is to date what each authorized source actually says and leave uncertainty visible.

Growing up in public is not a concept forever

BOY STORY’s age was once the easiest headline available. It also created an impossible bargain: the members were expected to show visible growth every comeback while remaining recognizable as the unusually young group people first noticed. By 2026, that frame has expired. Adult performers do not owe the audience a permanent reenactment of their trainee years.

The member pages therefore record childhood training carefully without turning it into personality. Birth dates, selection history and debut ages are facts. “The cute one,” “the mature one” or “the baby” are marketing positions that can become wrong before a page is indexed. Current work, education and artistic choices deserve the present tense.

How six performers fill the frame

Six creates a useful performance scale: enough members to split into pairs and triangles, but few enough that every handoff remains visible. Hanyu can stabilize the picture, Zihao and Xinlong can change its physical pressure, Zeyu and Mingrui can reshape the melodic temperature, and Shuyang can interrupt an established pattern rather than waiting at the edge.

The best choreography uses those differences instead of forcing everybody into one level of aggression. “Alpha” needs controlled danger; “Pump !t Up” needs shared release. The same member should not perform both concepts with the same face and weight. Maturity is partly the ability to decide when not to repeat the move that earned praise last time.

What a future BOY STORY release would need

A future comeback would have to negotiate real schedule changes, not simply gather six people in front of the old logo. Project groups may hold members for years; education deserves uninterrupted time; acting and individual music can reveal strengths the group never used. Any return should sound informed by those chapters rather than treating them as embarrassing detours.

The group’s strongest reason to continue would be artistic, not sentimental: six Chinese performers with shared training, a long collaborative history and increasing authorship could make music that no new trainee lineup can reproduce. Until they choose that chapter officially, the archive preserves the work already made and refuses to manufacture an ending for cleaner navigation.

BOY STORY also demonstrate why localization archives need more than translated names. Release versions, Chinese platform links, school pauses and Korean competition commitments sit in different systems. Keeping those systems connected lets a listener follow one member without misfiling a solo chapter as a comeback or losing the six-person work that came before it.
