Belle

Status: Active KISS OF LIFE member and solo artistYears active: KISS OF LIFE 2023-present; solo 2020-present

Belle was writing hooks, recording guide vocals and collecting credits before KISS OF LIFE had a debut date. Then she became the main vocalist with the high note everybody waits for. The useful Belle file is both stories at once: the singer who can throw a chorus through the ceiling and the songwriter listening for whether the climb actually belongs there.

Seattle, Seoul and a house where music already had a job

Belle was born in Seattle and grew up with Korean and American cultural reference points in the same life. Her father is Shim Shin, a Korean singer whose early 1990s career made him a recognizable name long before his daughter debuted. That fact gets used as a tidy headline because “second-generation singer” is easy copy. It is useful family context, but it is not a songwriting credit and it does not explain why Belle can hear a harmony stack before most people have found the melody.

In interviews, Belle has described her father encouraging her interest in writing music. Teen Vogue reported that he surprised her with a computer equipped with Logic after she became serious about songwriting. That gift matters because it turns the family connection into something practical: software, access and permission to experiment. The rest still required Belle to sit down, make bad drafts, learn what a guide vocal needs to communicate and enter rooms where a young writer’s idea could be used, changed or rejected.

She was publicly associated with the songwriting collective and label AURA before KISS OF LIFE. She also appeared in the wider trainee and pre-debut orbit that eventually became the group. Unlike the usual profile where “pre-debut” means a few childhood photos and an audition anecdote, Belle’s pre-debut file already contains released work. She was learning the invisible side of K-pop while preparing for its most visible job.

The songwriter arrived before the idol profile

Belle’s most famous pre-debut credit is LE SSERAFIM’s “UNFORGIVEN.” Korean reporting identified her participation in the lyrics and composition, and the album credit also connects her to background vocals. That does not mean she wrote every line or built the entire track alone. “UNFORGIVEN” has a crowded credit sheet, which is normal for a major-label K-pop single built through camps, samples and multiple production stages. The impressive part is not pretending Belle secretly made the whole song. It is that a teenager’s work survived enough rooms to reach the title track.

Her pre-debut and early credit trail also includes Miyeon’s “Softly,” background vocal work on Mark’s “Child,” and material associated with Purple Kiss and other artists. Roles vary between lyric writing, composition, guide vocals and background vocals. Those jobs are not interchangeable. A guide vocalist demonstrates melody, pronunciation, phrasing and emotional direction for the final singer. Background vocals build texture around the lead. A composer may contribute a topline or harmonic idea without controlling the finished arrangement. Belle’s file is strongest when the profile names the job instead of inflating every appearance into “producer.”

Ten days after KISS OF LIFE’s official debut, Belle received a songwriter award connected to her work. Korean coverage treated the timing as remarkable because the public had barely learned the group’s name while the industry already had receipts for her writing. The award did not suddenly create her skill. It made the pre-debut labor visible.

Writing inside KISS OF LIFE

The group’s debut EP gave every member a solo introduction. Belle co-wrote and co-composed “Countdown,” then had to sing the structure she helped build. She also participated in the writing and composition of “Shhh,” KISS OF LIFE’s debut title track. The record introduced the group as four separate women whose stories converge instead of a lineup waiting for identical uniforms. Belle’s solo was the right place to state her argument: get your head up, stop waiting for permission and move before the countdown reaches zero.

Later credits include work within and outside the group’s catalog. VIVIZ’s “Hypnotize” added another composition credit in 2024. The important pattern is not a giant number for a résumé graphic. It is that artists and teams keep using Belle in rooms where the song exists before the choreography, styling and camera angles arrive.

2023 to present: KISS OF LIFE

KISS OF LIFE debuted on July 5, 2023 with Julie, Natty, Belle and Haneul. The group’s name refers to breathing new life into music, which is ambitious wording for any rookie act. The first EP backed it up with a connected visual story, four member solos, “Bye My Neverland” and the title track “Shhh.” Belle’s role was immediately obvious. She was the main vocalist, but the music did not ask her to stand still until the bridge needed a high note. Her tone helped connect the members’ individual colors into one group sound.

The second EP, Born to Be XX, arrived in November 2023 with “Bad News” and “Nobody Knows.” This era showed why reducing Belle to vocal altitude wastes half the file. “Nobody Knows” uses control, texture and restraint. The song sits in its groove. Belle still has power available, but she does not need to spend it every eight bars.

In 2024, “Midas Touch” sharpened the group’s early-2000s pop instincts, while “Sticky” became a bright summer hit. Lose Yourself followed with “Get Loud” and the slow-burning success of “Igloo.” Belle’s voice works across those records because she can be clean and dramatic without losing the grain that makes the line recognizable. The arrangement often uses her as a release point after Julie’s bite, Natty’s smoothness or Haneul’s lighter color.

The 2025 EP 224 leaned deeper into polished R&B and quieter vocal detail. “Lips Hips Kiss” is a useful Belle test because the song is more interested in phrasing and atmosphere than in building a staircase toward one giant note. The group also expanded internationally, including its Japanese launch and official Japan activities. By 2026, the Japanese site listed new releases and maintained Belle’s individual profile alongside the group catalog.

In 2026, KISS OF LIFE returned with the second single album Who is she on April 6, toured the DEJA VU Asian fanmeeting route, and released the third single SWEAT on August 4. The group’s Japanese schedule also added “BREAK IT” for Digimon Beatbreak. These releases keep Belle’s profile in the present tense: active group member, working vocalist and songwriter, not a page frozen at “Sticky” or her predebut credits.

S2 Entertainment’s current artist page still lists Julie, Natty, Belle and Haneul together and records the 2026 releases. Where Belle has an individual writing or composition credit, this profile names it from a release credit. Group membership alone does not prove that she wrote every new song, even when her earlier catalog makes the assumption tempting.

Group history also includes difficult public moments. A complete profile should not turn every controversy into personality diagnosis or erase it because the music is good. Company statements, removed content and later actions belong in the KISS OF LIFE timeline when they materially affect the group. Belle’s individual page should link to documented Tea or Rant coverage rather than repeat unsourced fandom arguments as biography.

Solo songs, OST work and features

“Countdown” qualifies Belle for the Artist shelf under CVM Sekai’s rule because it is an officially released solo track with Belle as the lead performer. It appeared as a member solo tied to KISS OF LIFE’s debut EP, but the billing and performance are individual. That makes June 2023 the useful solo-start date, not the date this WordPress profile was created.

In June 2024, Belle released “See the Light” for the drama My Sweet Mobster. The OST lets her leave the group’s performance identity for a straightforward emotional vocal. The verified MOSTCONTENTS upload and major music services credit Belle as the performing artist. The track is less interested in vocal gymnastics than in moving from fatigue and uncertainty toward light. It is also an example of why OSTs matter in an artist profile. They test whether a recognizable idol voice can carry somebody else’s story without the group’s visual machinery.

Belle also featured on dress’s CMYK material, including “Twilight” with BIG Naughty and “Everything bout you” with Loco. The KISS OF LIFE Japan profile lists those collaborations directly. Features do not replace a solo catalog, but they show how other producers use her tone outside KISS OF LIFE. She has also participated in project and competition-related recordings, including “RIDE.” Each release should be checked by exact billing because music platforms frequently merge artists who share the name Belle.

Voice, range and why the lower register deserves better PR

Belle is the main vocalist for a reason. She has range, projection and the confidence to attack exposed climactic notes. Her high notes are the easiest part to clip for social media because they turn vocal ability into a visible event. You can watch the room brace for impact. The problem is that constant praise for the ceiling can flatten an actual singer into a smoke alarm with excellent pitch.

Her more interesting choices often happen lower. Belle can add weight to a verse, roughen the edge of a phrase or pull back enough that another member’s tone becomes the focus. Her English and Korean language background also affects diction and rhythmic comfort, especially in material built around American R&B and pop phrasing. None of that means every English line is automatically natural or every high note is automatically good. It means she has tools beyond volume.

The songwriter’s ear appears in performance. Belle often sounds aware of what comes before and after her line. She can deliver the note as punctuation, not an unrelated vocal stunt. When the arrangement earns the climb, the result is thrilling. When it does not, I want somebody in the studio to tell her she has already proved the ceiling exists.

Live work matters here. KISS OF LIFE built part of its reputation on performances where the members’ individual strengths remain audible. Belle has had uneven moments, as every working singer does, but the broader record shows a vocalist willing to sing demanding material in public rather than hide entirely behind a perfect studio file. The useful question is not whether she can reproduce one viral note forever. It is how she protects the voice while her schedule, repertoire and touring load grow.

RaeRae coverage with Belle and KISS OF LIFE

Related Tea and Rants should appear here when they are canonically tagged to Belle or KISS OF LIFE. A profile is not improved by inventing an empty Tea card. It is improved when the existing relationship trail works and the next documented story has somewhere correct to land.

Panda Side Quest: the studio detective file

  • Start with the booklet: “participated” can mean lyrics, melody, guide vocal or background vocals. Those are different jobs. The panda has brought a magnifying glass.
  • Play “Countdown” first: it is the cleanest bridge between Belle the writer and Belle the performer.
  • Then play “Nobody Knows”: the lower, restrained work explains more about her musical future than another compilation of high notes.
  • Use “See the Light” as the OST test: no group choreography, no member contrast, just Belle carrying the emotional line.
  • Do not confuse every Belle on streaming services: verify the KISS OF LIFE billing before attaching a release to this profile.

Fandom notes and the facts people actually search

  • Name: Korean sources use Shim Hye-won. Anabelle or Belle Shim appears as her English-name form.
  • Family: her father is singer Shim Shin. Keep the fact public and proportional.
  • Position: the official Japan profile lists main vocalist.
  • Solo eligibility: “Countdown” is an official Belle solo, so she belongs on both the Member and Artist shelves.
  • Representative shorthand: fans commonly associate Belle with a fairy emoji and pink, but official, dated profile sources should control any permanent dashboard field.
  • Credit reputation: the excitement is earned, but credit sheets still need verbs. Wrote, co-wrote, composed, sang guide and sang background vocals should never be mashed into one vague super-producer claim.

Zodiac Side Quest

Western sign: Pisces. The pop-astrology version of this profile sees imagination, porous creative boundaries and a habit of catching emotional information before everybody else names it. That is entertainment, not evidence that Pisces wrote “UNFORGIVEN.”

Chinese zodiac: Wood Monkey. Belle was born after Lunar New Year in 2004, placing her in the Wood Monkey year. Monkey symbolism is traditionally linked with invention, adaptability and quick social reading. The Wood element adds growth and collaboration to the shorthand. Again, seasoning. The credit sheet remains the evidence.

RaeRae take: Belle likes a note with consequences. Sometimes I want her to stop proving she can reach the ceiling and sing in the room with us for a minute. Then she lands one cleanly and I forgive the architecture. The songwriter underneath the vocalist is still the long game. That is the Belle file I am watching.
