Hueningkai is the youngest member of TXT alongside SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU and TAEHYUN. A childhood spread across countries and instruments

Hueningkai was born in Honolulu and spent significant childhood time in China before moving to South Korea. minisode 2: Thursday’s Child in 2022 extended the darker breakup frame. The members participated across the release, and Hueningkai’s work on Dear Sputnik had already established him as more than a vocalist who occasionally submitted lyrics. The song’s arena-ready rock drive became a natural live showcase.

Temptation, Freefall and global collaborations

The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION opened 2023 with Sugar Rush Ride and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Hueningkai has discussed researching the darker versions of fairy tales to approach the Peter Pan and Neverland themes. That preparation shows how TXT performance depends on understanding story, not merely reproducing choreography.

TXT collaborated with the Jonas Brothers on Do It Like That and with Anitta on Back for More. The group also became the first K-pop act to headline Lollapalooza. In an Associated Press interview about The Name Chapter: FREEFALL, Hueningkai described the album as a freefall into reality, connecting its rock and new-wave sounds to the difficult movement from fantasy toward adulthood.

The 2024 releases minisode 3: TOMORROW and The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY continued the group’s long-form coming-of-age structure. The ACT: PROMISE tour expanded into major venues and later reached Europe. Hueningkai briefly left a Seoul encore stage in November 2024 because of sudden indigestion; BIGHIT issued an official health notice and supported his recovery. The event belongs in the record as a resolved schedule adjustment, not permanent status.

In 2025, TXT released the studio album The Star Chapter: TOGETHER. Each member received material that highlighted individual color within the group framework. Hueningkai’s solo track Bird of Night extended the rock-leaning vocal identity fans had heard in covers and concert stages without constituting a separate solo debut outside the album.

His mixed family background has sometimes attracted inappropriate debates about whether he looks or sounds “Korean enough.” The relevant professional record is simpler: he trained and debuted in South Korea, works in a Korean group, was born in the United States and spent childhood time in China. Those layers can coexist.

A Moment of Stillness, MOA CON and the 2026 file

TXT began 2026 with group concerts and fan events, including MOA CON schedules in Korea and Japan. At the final Seoul MOA CON performance, the group announced a new Korean project later identified as 7th Year: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns. The title places the five members’ seventh anniversary inside another reflective chapter rather than treating longevity as a victory lap.

In an April 2026 Wonderland interview, Hueningkai discussed values learned from the older members and the steadiness built over years together. The interview followed TXT’s evolution from a newly announced team into senior artists with individual projects and a shared group identity. His answer reinforces the reliable-youngest-member framing without freezing him at age sixteen.

Japan remained important to his individual visibility. Official TXT Japan news listed BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN and HUENINGKAI for THE MUSIC DAY 2026, where the trio performed Japanese material. Magazine and cover work also expanded his individual fashion profile, but none of those schedules constitutes a solo music debut.

As of August 2026, BIGHIT MUSIC and TXT’s official sites continue to list Hueningkai with SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU and TAEHYUN. There is no departure announcement. His status is Active member, songwriter and producer, with 2019–present used for the directory years. Covers, solo tracks inside TXT albums and member-produced songs belong here; a separate solo artist entry should wait for an official individual debut.
