Before XG

MAYA grew up in Japan and attended an international school, which helped make her one of XG’s most fluent English speakers. She trained in performance from childhood and entered XGALX with enough language flexibility to become a bridge between the group’s Japanese identity, Korean base, and English-language music.

The road to debut

The trainee period sharpened her into a genuine all-rounder rather than the vague kind of all-rounder label fans hand out because somebody once sang two lines and danced without falling. She can rap with speed, carry melodic material, speak for the group in interviews, and keep the energy moving offstage.

XG debuted with “Tippy Toes” on March 18, 2022. The group is Japanese, based in South Korea, and deliberately works across markets rather than pretending nationality disappears when the chorus is in English. Their fandom is ALPHAZ, and their music sits in the deliberately slippery “X-POP” lane: hip-hop and R&B first, idol training underneath, fashion apparently imported from a nicer galaxy.
