Kim Sun-woo attended performing arts school and trained for a comparatively short period before I-LAND. He entered the show with strong camera instinct, expressive vocals, and a clear understanding that facial performance is not decoration. It is choreography for the close-up.
I-LAND and career
Sunoo was selected by the producers as the final member after the global vote filled the other six positions. That result became a permanent fandom nerve, but it also showed why the judges considered him necessary. The lineup needed his tonal and emotional contrast.

Expression is a performance skill, not a personality decoration
Kim Sunoo trained for around ten months before I-LAND. He entered with less formal training than several contestants and quickly became visible through expression, adaptability, and an ability to make the camera understand the song. Viewers ranked him highly throughout the program. When the final global vote placed him outside the first six, the producers selected him for the seventh debut position.
That ending matters because people sometimes retell Sunoo’s debut as if charm simply carried him into the group. Charm helped. So did vocal stability, fast learning, concept flexibility, and the ability to create a readable performance under television pressure. He did not accidentally survive a survival show.
Sunoo’s voice is bright and clean, with a tone that can cut through ENHYPEN’s darker mixes. He is especially useful in pre-choruses, melodic lifts, and sections where the song needs emotional clarity. Visual concepts also benefit from his willingness to commit. Cute, eerie, glamorous, furious, and theatrical are all available. He does not protect himself by pretending a concept is beneath him.
In “Outside,” his sniper moment and the black-and-white center section became immediate fan talking points. The contrast works because Sunoo’s public image is often simplified into brightness. Give the bright person a weapon and suddenly everybody remembers range.
