Guk Chorok
Side B · Korean
One of the two eldest members in the announced lineup. Her first concept photos leaned chic and controlled, with INNIT using her as part of Side B’s sharper visual introduction.
Shin Hyewon
Side B · Korean
Known before debut through JTBC’s R U Next?. She arrives with the useful advantage of already knowing what cameras, rankings and very opinionated survival-show viewers can do.
Cho Hyejin
Side A · Korean · performance
A Street Dance Girls Fighter 2 alum who later won KBS2’s The Entertainer. She was also attached to the planned DDDD 25 project before OURBIRTHDAY became her actual debut road.
U
Side B · Japanese · all-rounder
Placed third on The Entertainer and previously appeared on Universe Ticket. She is one of the members with the clearest public paper trail before OBD.
Baby
Side A · Taiwanese · dance
Born Hsieh Chia-hsuan. INNIT introduced her as a dance-focused member. Yes, Baby is the stage name. No, search engines were not consulted before that meeting.
Achiraya
Side A · Thai · vocal
The Thai member was introduced with vocals as her main strength. Side A gives her a surprisingly exposed job because a short, performance-heavy song leaves nowhere for an uncertain voice to hide.
Kilala
Side B · Japanese · maknae line
The youngest member in the public lineup. Her debut styling pushed an urban, polished image rather than turning her age into the whole personality.
About positions: INNIT has publicly emphasized strengths for several members, but a complete fixed-position chart has not been formally published. I am not assigning everybody a main, lead and sub-title just because fandom databases hate an empty cell.
What the name is trying to say
OURBIRTHDAY is not supposed to mean seven people permanently trapped at a cake table. INNIT describes the birthday feeling as the moment someone is happiest, most honest and most excited to exist. The group’s job is to drag that feeling into ordinary days. It is bright branding with a slightly more useful idea underneath: you should not need one approved date per year to feel special.
How the rollout actually works
The company split the first introduction into two chapters. Cho Hyejin, Baby and Achiraya released HUNGRY (Side A) first. Guk Chorok, Shin Hyewon, U and Kilala followed as Side B. That gave a seven-member rookie group two smaller stages on which viewers could learn faces before the complete lineup had to fight for attention in one frame.
It also explains why early reports sometimes describe OURBIRTHDAY as a three-member group and other pages list seven. Those articles were written in the middle of the rollout, not in an alternate universe. The group was planned as seven; Side A was simply the first public unit.
The lore department came to work
Each member is paired with a color, a dessert-flavor identity and an animated counterpart. The WHIP! OURBIRTHDAY! material wraps the idols inside a superhero-style story rather than leaving the mascots as merchandise decorations. It is part K-pop rollout, part web animation and part test of whether viewers will memorize CAPPUSIA, HAPUMI, TIRUMICO and KIRAKLE before breakfast.
The danger is obvious. Lore can become homework. The advantage is just as obvious. If the music, animation and member personalities keep talking to one another, OURBIRTHDAY has a recognizable world before many rookie groups have settled on a font.
Pre-debut paths worth knowing
Hyejin and U came through The Entertainer, the JYP-led audition program that originally pointed toward DDDD 25. Hyejin won; U finished third. When that planned group did not become the final destination, both eventually surfaced in OURBIRTHDAY. Hyewon brought a different survival-show history from R U Next?, the program that formed ILLIT. That means three members entered with existing viewers, existing expectations and at least one old edit following them into a new company.
Baby and Achiraya were introduced more cleanly as new faces, with dance and vocal strengths respectively. Guk Chorok and Kilala remain the least publicly documented members. That is not a failure of research. Their biographies are genuinely still being revealed, and I would rather update verified details than fill the silence with somebody’s copied trainee rumor.
Music and performance identity
HUNGRY is short, physical and built to introduce attitude faster than biography. Side A centers three performers and makes the choreography easy to read. Side B changes the faces and the balance without throwing away the track’s core. The useful question is not which side “owns” the song. It is what happens when all seven finally share one arrangement and the group has enough material to prove whether hunger is a debut theme or an actual musical identity.
