Winning The DDANDDARA
KBS designed The DDANDDARA as a search for an all-around entertainer rather than a single-category vocalist or dancer. Hyejin finished first. That matters because the victory did not come from a closed trainee evaluation; it came from a broadcast competition where the audience and judges repeatedly saw her adapt.
The win connected her to JYP’s creative system and later to INNIT Entertainment. Korean reporting around the OURBIRTHDAY reveal repeatedly led with the same credential: she was the final No. 1 contestant. It is the cleanest receipt in her pre-debut file and the reason her rookie status needs an asterisk.
Rookie does not mean inexperienced. It means the official group clock has only just started.

OURBIRTHDAY introduced its lineup in stages, with Hyejin among the first members placed in public view. “HUNGRY (Side A)” gave her a debut vehicle built around urgency, sharp movement, and the idea of wanting the stage badly enough to look slightly dangerous about it.
Her role inside the group should not be reduced to “the competition winner.” That label opens the door; it does not explain the group chemistry. CVM Sekai only routes a member onto the Artists shelf after an actual solo release exists. Hyejin qualifies because “Mad (from THE DDANDDARA)” was released under her own name and appears on her official Apple Music artist record. That does not mean she has launched a full independent solo era. It means she has a real solo recording credit, so her identity is both OURBIRTHDAY member and artist.
