Bottom line

Umji (Kim Yewon) is vocalist, dancer and lyric-minded performer whose measured phrasing supplies warmth without surrendering edge. Born August 19, 1998, she is part of both GFRIEND history and the three-member VIVIZ identity.

This canonical person page holds both group routes and future individual work without creating competing biographies.

Quick facts

Stage name: Umji. Public name: Kim Yewon. Born: August 19, 1998. Groups: GFRIEND and VIVIZ, with exact dates and credits.

Current agency status changed in March 2026; future management remains updateable when the trio or an authorized representative announces it.

A distinct signature

Umji becomes recognizable through the relationship between voice, rhythm, body and shared focus. The useful question is what changes when she enters.

Follow the phrase after the camera leaves. Continuity shows ensemble skill that a highlight compilation removes.

Current route

The trio stated through counsel that their BPM contracts ended and expressed hope to continue together as one team. That is evidence of intent, not permission to invent a release date or new company.

This page remains current by labeling the unknown rather than polishing it away.

Two group histories

Eunha, SinB and Umji debuted in GFRIEND before forming VIVIZ. One person can carry both histories without VIVIZ becoming a renamed GFRIEND subunit.

Credits decide which group route applies. Sowon, Yerin and Yuju are GFRIEND colleagues, not invented VIVIZ participants.

Three-person formation labor

A trio exposes every pathway, distance and recovery. There is less visual cover, so the member outside center must keep the next direction alive.

Watch complete phrases. The count before focus often explains why the focal moment looks effortless.

Voice beyond role labels

Tone, onset, blend, rhythmic placement and restraint describe more than a permanent position. The trio’s compact scale makes small contrasts unusually audible.

A distribution total is data, not a moral ranking or complete account of structural contribution.

The 2026 legal route

The members’ legal representative said BPM contracts ended March 4, 2026 after alleged payment and management breaches. Court reporting later described interim relief supporting independent activity.

This profile attributes claims and avoids predicting the unresolved main case. It also does not call the trio disbanded.

One canonical person

GFRIEND, VIVIZ, solo, collaboration and future management history stay on one member/Artist profile. Duplicate pages would split dates and current status.

Only exact participants receive a video route. Group association does not create a cameo.

RaeRae standard

Recognition comes from repeatable choices: a consonant’s shape, weight transfer, a gaze yielding focus and recovery after a headline gesture.

Adjectives begin observation. Evidence finishes it.

Image integrity

This profile uses a real individual performance frame stored locally with source metadata. Reacts and other members receive unique files.

Hero, featured image and social preview agree so a landing card never promises another person or era.

Source discipline

Official videos establish participation; legal statements and court reporting establish current contract procedure; member announcements establish future activity when issued.

A dormant account, rumor or confident translation cannot fill an unannounced management field.

Return to VIVIZ

Use the VIVIZ hub for trio history, GFRIEND continuity, 2026 legal status and exact playlist routes.

Exact-video tracker

Each playlist upload owns one React, one player, a unique real local image and a static card. MVs, performances and mirrored fan uploads never borrow one another’s evidence.

Sources and update standard

Identity and releases are checked against official VIVIZ and GFRIEND channels, original Big Planet Made material, the members’ legal representative’s April 2026 statement, court reporting and exact credits.

Legal status, agency, group identity and historical participation remain separate. Ongoing litigation is dated and never predicted as a final merits judgment.
