The Dragon Kings of the Four Seas (四海龙王)
A complete and unnecessarily dramatic guide to the four most overworked managers in Heaven.
The Dragon Kings of the Four Seas preside over the oceans that surround the ancient lands. They command storms, tides, rain, coral kingdoms, underwater ministries, weather bureaucrats, and a frankly unreasonable number of sea spirits filing grievances about mortals dumping trash in their territory.
The four Dragon Kings are brothers. Unfortunately.
Each one governs a direction. Each one has a personality theme. Each one is still emotionally recovering from the day Sun Wu Kong walked into the Eastern Sea Palace and asked for a weapon.
This page collects their lore, their vibes, their drama, and the exact moment each one realized being a mythical sovereign is not nearly as glamorous as it sounds.
RaeRae says: The dragons have never known peace since that Tuesday.
Who Are the Dragon Kings?
The Four Seas
Eastern Sea: Storms, authority, administration, and Ao Guang’s daily blood pressure spike.
Southern Sea: Warm currents, sunlight, clarity, and Ao Qin’s perfectionism.
Western Sea: Coral kingdoms, warm colors, aesthetics, and Ao Run’s attempt to hold everyone together.
Northern Sea: Deep waters, cold tides, judgment, and Ao Shun’s three-thousand-year-old sigh.
Together, they maintain elemental balance. Separately, they are four separate HR departments waiting for Wu Kong to finish his probation period so they can ban him permanently.
Ao Guang (敖广)
Dragon King of the Eastern Sea
The eldest brother. The CEO. The man who woke up one morning and realized managing weather patterns was easier than managing Sun Wu Kong. He keeps the official ledgers of tides, storms, rainfall requests, and all receipts for items reluctantly given to immortals. He is the only one brave enough to say “No” to Wu Kong, and the only one unlucky enough that it never works.
Fun Fact: Ao Guang updated all palace insurance policies after the staff incident. Premiums went up. Morale went down.
Ao Qin (敖钦)
Dragon King of the Southern Sea
The immaculate one. His domain is clear blue water, sunlight, white foam, calm waves, and the radiant aesthetic of someone who alphabetizes his spell scrolls. His vibe is “Headmaster who is trying his best.”
He possesses the kind of intimidating serenity that makes mortals confess even when they did nothing wrong.
Fun Fact: He claims he does not hold grudges. He absolutely holds grudges.
Ao Run (敖闰)
Dragon King of the Western Sea
Warm coral tones, gentle currents, and personality of a man who reads poetry into the wind. Runs the palace where nothing is ever “urgent” until it suddenly is. He is the emotional middle brother trying to stop everyone from fighting, although he fails constantly.
Fun Fact: When Wu Kong asked politely for a weapon, Ao Run hid behind a column. It was a smart decision.
Ao Shun (敖顺)
Dragon King of the Northern Sea
Cold, deep, ancient, introverted, intimidating, and absolutely capable of destroying you with one raised eyebrow.
Rules the kingdom of winter tides and quiet storms.
Known for giving speeches so slow and so calm that entire schools of fish fall asleep.
Fun Fact: His patience is legendary, but even he sighed a little too loudly when Wu Kong visited the East. It echoed for eight provinces.

The Day Sun Wu Kong Arrived
Once upon a Tuesday that started normal and ended in disaster, Sun Wu Kong descended into the Eastern Sea Palace looking for a weapon worthy of him. Every spear, sword, halberd, glaive, and ceremonial trident bent like wet noodles in his hands.
The four Dragon Kings entered emergency conference mode.
Ao Guang panicked.
Ao Qin recalculated structural tolerances.
Ao Run wrote a farewell poem.
Ao Shun accepted the possibility of death.
Then Wu Kong picked up the Ruyi Jingu Bang. And the staff shrank into his hand like a golden puppy choosing its owner.
The Four Seas have not rested since.
