Early life and training
Before idol training became the headline, Han-bin built a serious dance foundation. He is especially associated with waacking and tutting—styles that demand control, clean angles, musical timing, and enough confidence to make precision look loose. He worked as a backup dancer and studied performance before entering Boys Planet.
That background explains why his movement reads differently from a trainee who learned choreography only inside an idol system. His hands finish shapes. His upper body stays articulate even when the formation is crowded. He does not simply hit counts; he phrases them.
Boys Planet: how he reached the lineup
Han-bin entered the show as a STUDIO GL1DE trainee and became one of its most visible contestants almost immediately. His “Here I Am” center position turned him into the face viewers used to recognize the program, but center visibility can become a trap: once people expect perfection, every small mistake becomes content.
He held audience support throughout the competition and finished second, joining ZEROBASEONE. More important than the number was the role that followed. He became the group’s leader, responsible for translating nine personalities, multiple agencies, and a temporary contract into something that looked like one team.
Career with ZEROBASEONE
Sung Han-bin debuted with ZEROBASEONE on July 10, 2023 through Youth in the Shade and “In Bloom.” The original nine-member run moved quickly: multiple million-selling releases, Korean and Japanese promotions, award shows, tours, brand work, and a fandom that always knew the project clock was running.
Outside group releases, Han-bin expanded through hosting and dance-focused work. He served as an M Countdown MC, returned to showcase his dance range through performance content, and in 2026 was announced as KCON’s first global ambassador. Those jobs make sense: he can carry live television, explain a stage without draining its excitement, and switch between idol friendliness and technical performance authority.
When the original term ended in 2026, Han-bin remained in the continuing five-member ZEROBASEONE with Kim Ji-woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, and Park Gun-wook. Their first mini album in that formation, Ascend-, deliberately moved toward contemporary R&B, groovy hip-hop, and a more mature performance style.
Skills, voice, and stage identity
His strongest asset is control. Han-bin can make a small shoulder angle or hand rotation read clearly on camera, which is why choreographers can place him at the center without forcing him to overperform. Vocally, he developed from reliable idol singing into a smoother, more assured tone that fits the restrained R&B direction of Ascend-.
