Career, without the two-sentence shortcut

Kun entered SM through the 2015 Guangzhou audition, appeared in the Chinese version of NCT U’s “Without You” in 2016, joined the larger NCT project in 2018, and debuted as WayV’s leader in 2019. His delayed unit debut is one reason older introductions can make his timeline look needlessly confusing.

He studied pop vocal performance at Beijing Contemporary Music Institute and has steadily shown more of his arranging and production work through covers, remixes, and WayV material. He also earned attention for aviation training and flying experience. Yes, the leader can help land the plane. The metaphor writes itself.

Solo music career

Kun opened his separately credited solo catalog in 2026. His first solo single, “那一刻心动,” arrived on June 20, followed by the original dance single “Feel Love and Talk” on July 4 and “Too Many Lies” later that month. The releases establish a genuine solo music career rather than a unit or feature credit, while his WayV history remains on this same canonical profile.

What Kun brings to WayV

His voice is warm and stabilizing rather than showy. In WayV songs he often makes the chorus feel expensive, then leaves the obvious high-note fireworks to Xiaojun. On “Your Song,” he participated in the lyrics, turning the fandom dedication into something personal instead of a generic album closer.

Personality and fandom file

Kun often gets assigned the “normal one” role because somebody has to keep the dorm alive. This is misleading. He performs magic, experiments with music production, and voluntarily manages a group full of professional button-pushers. His calm is an active survival skill.
