Ju Haknyeon lost his group before police cleared the allegation, then a reporter was indicted

A rumor moved faster than evidence. The consequences did not wait for the correction.

Ju Haknyeon

RaeRae take: If the scandal gets a screaming headline, the police decision and reporter indictment do not belong in twelve-point correction text.

What happened

In June 2025, reports said Ju Haknyeon had attended a private gathering in Japan where former adult performer Asuka Kirara was present. The internet converted “same gathering” into an accusation of paid sex with terrifying speed. ONE HUNDRED removed Haknyeon from THE BOYZ and terminated his contract on June 18.

Haknyeon acknowledged being at the gathering and denied prostitution or other illegal conduct. Kirara also denied the sexual and payment claims. On July 2, Korea JoongAng Daily reported that Gangnam police did not refer the prostitution accusation to prosecutors because there were insufficient grounds to continue.

The correction got bigger in 2026

On June 2, 2026, Korea JoongAng Daily reported that prosecutors had indicted the reporter behind the prostitution story on a defamation charge. According to that report, investigators said the article relied on unnamed industry sources without objective physical evidence.

An indictment is not a final conviction, so I am not replacing one premature verdict with another. It does, however, make the original rush look even worse. Haknyeon lost his group and contract while the most damaging claim was still an unsupported allegation.

What is verified

  • Haknyeon attended a social gathering in Japan.
  • He and Kirara denied the prostitution allegation.
  • Police did not send the accusation forward for prosecution.
  • A reporter was later indicted over the publication of the claim.
  • His contract dispute with ONE HUNDRED remained a separate legal fight.
