Haechan

Status: Active solo artist and group member  ·  Solo years: 2025–present  ·  Group years: 2016–present

Haechan is the vocalist whose tone can walk into an NCT song for four seconds and make everybody point at the speakers. He is a current member of both NCT 127 and NCT DREAM, a rotating NCT U participant and, since TASTE, an independently credited solo artist. One person, two permanent-unit cards, several rotating combinations and absolutely no need for duplicate biographies.

NCT 127, NCT DREAM and NCT U

NCT 127

Haechan debuted in NCT 127 in 2016 and became one of the unit’s defining vocal colors. In arrangements built from metallic percussion, exposed hooks and deliberate empty space, his bright upper register works like a blade of light. NCT 127 videos remain on the group profile, not on this solo tracker.

NCT DREAM

He also debuted with NCT DREAM in 2016. DREAM let listeners hear the voice grow in real time, from the teenage brightness of “Chewing Gum” and “My First and Last” to the stronger emotional control of “Hello Future,” “Broken Melodies” and later releases. His one canonical profile appears in both permanent-unit directories.

NCT U

NCT U is rotating. Haechan participates only in the lineups to which he is officially credited, including combinations across the Resonance and Universe projects. Those videos stay on the NCT U tracker.

Career

Training and 2016 debut

Haechan entered SM through the company’s audition system and appeared through SM Rookies before NCT’s launch. In 2016 he debuted inside both the Seoul-based NCT 127 and the teenage NCT DREAM, creating a schedule overlap that became fundamental to his career rather than a temporary crossover.

Growing inside two different musical languages

NCT 127 demanded attack, rhythmic precision and the confidence to sing over deliberately strange production. DREAM required warmth, nostalgia and the ability to make youth concepts evolve instead of expire. Haechan did both, often while moving between releases and tours. That double membership explains his range better than a position label can.

Health, workload and return

His career also includes documented pauses for health and recovery. Those interruptions are not departures and should never be converted into “former member” cards. Current status follows the group’s official roster, while the timeline records periods when participation changed.

Solo career and TASTE

Haechan’s first full solo album TASTE arrived in September 2025. “CRZY” served as the title track, and the eleven-track album included “Camera Lights,” “ADRENALINE,” “Love Beyond,” “Roll With Me,” “Talented,” “WYN?” featuring HAON, “Should Be,” “Grey Rain” and studio-framing interludes.

The album made official what years of group work had suggested: his voice does not need to be used only as a high-contrast ingredient. A full solo project can build the room around it. “CRZY” leans into R&B performance, controlled flirtation and a groove that lets phrasing carry the drama.

Mark’s “+82 Pressin’” features Haechan, but it remains a Mark-led release. It can be documented in Haechan’s credits without being misrepresented as his solo single. Tracker ownership follows the principal official credit.

Voice and performance

Haechan’s tone is frequently described as distinctive, but the useful question is why. The sound is bright without being thin, nasal resonance adds focus, and his phrasing can bend around syncopated production without losing the lyric. He can cut through NCT 127’s density, soften DREAM’s nostalgia and hold the center of a solo R&B arrangement.

He is also a dancer trained to make vocal moments visible. Small changes in expression, shoulder placement and timing keep the performance connected to the record. The charisma is not volume. It is attention control.
