Early life and training

Chaeryeong entered the public eye as a child through K-pop Star 3 with her older sister Lee Chae-yeon, then competed on JYP’s SIXTEEN, the program that formed TWICE. She did not make that lineup and continued training under JYP for years.

That timeline means ITZY was not her first close call. She grew up being evaluated in public, compared with her sister, and asked to keep improving after audiences had already watched her fail to debut. The polished 2019 performer was built from that long, visible apprenticeship.

Road to ITZY
