YG has officially pulled another card from the BABYMONSTER deck: “MOON,” a B-side from CHOOM, is getting its own music video on August 3 at midnight KST. The first teaser arrived July 27 KST, which means the album campaign is still very much alive instead of being shoved into the usual two-week comeback blender.
What actually happened
The announcement is not random. YG mapped this out months ago: BABYMONSTER would release extra videos after the album, including “I LIKE IT” in July and “MOON” in early August. Now the “MOON” teaser has made that promise real. This is less surprise drop and more slow-burn rollout, and honestly, I prefer knowing the company remembered the rest of the album exists.
Why this matters
Most K-pop albums contain perfectly good songs that get one stage, one fancam cycle, and then vanish into the streaming basement. BABYMONSTER is doing the opposite with CHOOM: the title era, performance videos, tour stages, and later music videos keep reopening the same project from different angles. It gives fans time to decide what they actually like instead of being told the answer on release day.
It also keeps the group visible between tour stops without manufacturing a whole new comeback. Efficient? Yes. Slightly evil because the teaser calendar never releases us? Also yes.
The RaeRae take
“MOON” already had the dangerous B-side problem: fans liked it enough to start asking why it was not being treated like a real event. Now it is. The question is whether the video gives the song its own visual identity or looks like footage left over from the main comeback. I want atmosphere, a point of view, and at least one image that makes the fandom stop mid-scroll.
