Rocky is the dancer other dancers watch: an original ASTRO member, choreographer, rapper, vocalist and producer whose 2023 departure ended a contract – not the evidence of what he built with the group.

Before ASTRO
Park Min-hyuk began dancing young, studied multiple styles and entered Fantagio as a child trainee. He appeared on Korea’s Got Talent and later in To Be Continued. Years of training made his debut skill level look suspiciously complete. Ballet, modern dance, hip-hop and acrobatics gave him a larger movement vocabulary than most rookie title tracks could use.
Music, performance and work
Rocky served as main dancer, lead rapper and vocalist while contributing choreography, lyrics and composition. With Jinjin, he formed Jinjin & Rocky and released Restore. Fantagio announced in February 2023 that he would leave both the agency and ASTRO after his contract ended. He then established One Fine Day Entertainment and continued as a solo artist. The correct timeline is neither “betrayed the group” nor “secretly still a member”: he is a former member whose creative history remains central to ASTRO.
Dance, choreography, and unit work
Rocky’s reputation inside ASTRO was built on more than executing assigned choreography. His control, balance, and ability to connect transitions made him a reference point for other dancers, while his participation in choreography gave him responsibility for how a complete group stage read rather than only how his own body looked.
In 2022 he formed the unit JinJin & Rocky and released Restore. The project gave both members more concentrated writing, rap, vocal, and performance responsibility. It remains a formal ASTRO unit release, not part of Rocky’s later individual solo catalog.
Departure and solo chapter
Fantagio announced in February 2023 that Rocky would leave the agency and ASTRO after his contract expired. He later founded One Fine Day Entertainment and debuted as a solo artist with ROCKYST. That career step established an individually billed catalog and supports the Solo Artist taxonomy on the same canonical person profile.
Later releases including “Jealousy” and “On My Mind” show how his stage identity changes when he controls more of the concept and production framework. The dancing remains technically precise, but the arrangements can now be built around his own vocal range, pacing, and performance priorities.
Career scope
This profile records three distinct but connected catalogs: ASTRO group work from 2016 to 2023, JinJin & Rocky unit work, and Rocky’s individually billed solo releases from 2023 onward. The same person appears in both the Member and Artist directories; duplicate biographies are unnecessary.
The panda side quest
Watch a Rocky dance practice at half speed, then normal speed. The side quest is spotting how often he finishes one shape while already preparing the next. After that, compare his ASTRO choreography, unit work and solo stages. The body language changes when he owns more of the production decision. Also keep his acting and theater work nearby; he performs character, not only counts.

Former member does not mean erased collaborator
Rocky left ASTRO and Fantagio in February 2023 after contract discussions ended without renewal. He is a former member and a continuing solo artist. Stargraphy did not reverse that status. It did something more honest: invited him to participate in a reunion built around the group’s full history and put his name back on the poster instead of treating years of choreography, rap writing and unit work as an embarrassing legal complication.
That distinction protects both careers. ASTRO can acknowledge Rocky without pretending he returned to Fantagio. Rocky can stand with the members without suspending his solo identity. The concert was event participation, not a silent contract announcement. Fans did not need corporate word games; they needed the poster and stage to admit that the human relationship outlived one agreement.
The solo chapter tests all the skills the group used
Dance and choreography remain the obvious foundation, but Rocky’s solo file also includes vocals, rap, production choices and the practical work of building activity through his own company. “JEALOUSY” and “On My Mind” belong on this artist tracker rather than the ASTRO group-video list. “ONE” stays as a full-group reference. The split keeps the career legible without forcing a false choice between past and present.

The dancer was also building the blueprint
Rocky’s reputation begins with movement because the evidence is immediate: control, clean angles and the ability to make difficult transitions read as musical rather than athletic. But treating him only as “the dancer” misses how often choreography, rap construction and performance direction overlap. He understands a song from inside the count, which changes how he places a syllable and how he designs a stage payoff.
That skill set became more visible after leaving Fantagio. Independent activity removes the protective scale of a major idol company and exposes every decision—release pacing, visual identity, touring, promotion and the business structure underneath the music. It is harder to confuse polish with institutional support when the artist is helping build the institution.
Stargraphy gave fans precision instead of a rumor
The reunion mattered because the announcement was concrete. Rocky was named for the event as a former member participating with ASTRO. That is different from a permanent reunion, different from a new contract and different from fans merely spotting private friendship. Precise language does not reduce the emotion; it lets people celebrate what actually happened without manufacturing promises the artists never made.
The result also models a healthier way to describe K-pop departures. A contract can end while shared history remains true. A former member can collaborate without surrendering an independent career. A group can make room for that person at an anniversary event without rewriting its current official lineup.
Rocky makes choreography sound musical
Rocky’s dancing is not impressive only because sequences are difficult. He gives movement phrasing: accents arrive with the percussion, transitions carry the melody and stillness appears where another performer might fill space from anxiety. The result looks inevitable because the preparation is hidden inside the groove.
That musical intelligence affects rap and singing too. A performer who hears counts through the body can place consonants, breath and release around movement instead of treating the live track as something laid over choreography afterward.
The main dancer label was never enough
ASTRO used Rocky as a movement anchor, but “main dancer” became a shortcut that obscured writing, rap, vocals and performance direction. Specialty labels help introduce a group. They become misleading when years of credits prove a wider practice.
A complete profile does not solve that by calling him an all-rounder and moving on. It identifies the exact song, choreography, lyric or production role where each skill became visible.
Jinjin and Rocky turned contrast into comedy
The Restore unit paired two rappers and dancers with different kinds of control. “Just Breathe” uses theatrical panic, comic staging and a groove that allows personality to interrupt without destroying the song. Their familiarity makes the chaos readable.
The unit ended as an active configuration when Rocky left Fantagio and ASTRO. Its music remains attached to both people. A completed unit is not a failed one, and later friendship does not automatically announce a commercial restart.
Leaving ASTRO needs a date and a verb
Rocky left Fantagio and ASTRO in February 2023 after contract discussions ended without renewal. “Former member” is the accurate current status. It does not erase his work from 2016 through departure, and it does not make private relationships vanish on the same day as paperwork.
Precise language protects everybody. Saying he participated in Stargraphy as a former member celebrates the event that happened. Calling it a permanent return would manufacture a promise no contract announcement made.
One Fine Day Entertainment changed the risk
Building solo activity through his own company placed more responsibility close to Rocky: release pacing, staff coordination, branding and the cost of every choice become harder to hide behind a large institution. Ownership can create freedom and expose limitations at the same time.
The company should not be used as proof that every decision is personally his. Published credits identify music, choreography and direction. Founder status does not erase employees or collaborators. Exact verbs matter most when power is concentrated.
ROCKYST established the solo center
The ROCKYST project and “LUCKY ROCKY” introduced a solo frame built around performance confidence and self-definition. The title plays with his name, but the release still has to function after the branding joke lands. Rhythm, vocal character and staging carry that test.
A solo debut is not required to reject ASTRO’s brightness or prove adulthood through darkness. It needs to show which choices become louder when group distribution disappears. Rocky’s answer begins with body-driven music and an appetite for directing the whole frame.
JEALOUSY lets control become tension
“JEALOUSY” uses a tighter emotional premise and performance built around possession, attention and friction. Rocky’s clean physical control can make dangerous material look elegant, which creates useful tension between subject and surface.
The React should ask whether choreography reveals instability or merely makes it attractive. A strong concept survives that question; a weaker one hides behind beautiful movement.
Singing deserves its own evidence
Rocky’s vocal ability often appears as a surprise in coverage because the dancer-rapper label trained audiences not to listen for it. That surprise says as much about narrow promotion as it does about development. Singing existed inside the group era and became more exposed in solo work.
Evaluation should remain specific: tone, support, phrasing and how arrangements place him. “He can sing too” is an invitation to listen, not a finished profile section.
Stargraphy made history visible without rewriting status
Rocky’s participation in the 2025 Stargraphy reunion mattered because an official ASTRO event acknowledged a former member as part of the shared history. The stage could hold affection, memory and current difference at once. Fans did not need the relationship erased to protect a contract chart.
The event also demonstrated a healthier archival principle: current lineup and historical lineup are separate questions. Rocky can appear in an anniversary frame and remain an independent solo artist afterward.
The archive test for Rocky
A useful page connects ASTRO releases from his tenure, Jinjin & Rocky, solo work and Stargraphy while labeling every lane. Historical group Reacts retain their original participants. Current four-member files do not attach to him. Solo cards route here and to the ASTRO hub as discovery, not to unrelated members.
Images follow the same rule. The canonical profile portrait identifies Rocky now; old group and unit files preserve their exact art. One attractive face should not be recycled until chronology disappears.
Bottom line
Rocky’s career joins choreography, rhythm, rap, vocals and the practical risk of independent activity. Leaving ASTRO changed his status, not the truth of what he built there. Stargraphy proved the human and historical relationship could remain visible without pretending paperwork reversed itself.
Watch a full ASTRO stage, Restore, “LUCKY ROCKY,” “JEALOUSY” and the reunion material. The through-line is a performer who hears structure through movement and wants increasing control over the frame around it.
Independence should not become a morality play
Leaving a company and creating one can be brave, practical, risky and imperfect at the same time. Coverage often turns the move into a simple liberation story because heroes are easier to market than balance sheets. Rocky still operates inside contracts, distribution systems, budgets and collaboration.
The profile follows official company information and credits without assuming autonomy solved every problem. Freedom matters most when we can identify the choice it enabled.
Choreography credit needs the same precision as music
Fans routinely say a strong dancer “made” a stage when they mean he performed it brilliantly. Choreography, performance direction and execution are related but different roles. Rocky’s record includes real creative participation, so vague praise actually makes the evidence harder to see.
When an official credit names choreography or direction, the profile states it. When footage only shows performance, the review analyzes execution without inventing authorship.
A former member can still be family without being current
The emotional language members and fans use for ASTRO may remain six-person even when the formal current lineup is four. Human relationships do not obey database columns. Public status still needs those columns because releases, contracts and participant cards depend on them.
Rocky does not have to surrender the word family to preserve his independent work, and ASTRO does not need to mislabel him as current to acknowledge what he built. Stargraphy held both truths.
The listening assignment
Watch an ASTRO performance where Rocky helps organize the formation, then “Just Breathe,” “LUCKY ROCKY” and “JEALOUSY.” Follow where rhythm lands in his feet, rap and vocal phrasing. The scale changes; the bodily logic remains.
Finally compare the credits. The exercise separates what Rocky performed, wrote, choreographed or directed and gives collaborators their names. Precision turns an all-rounder compliment into a career map.
Why a small company changes the visual question
A solo video released through a smaller structure should not be excused from visual criticism, but budget and intention need separate columns. Rocky’s strongest direction can use framing, movement and repetition intelligently without pretending every concept requires a massive set. Resourcefulness is a creative choice when the result supports the song, not merely when fans know the bill was difficult.
The canonical image therefore comes from the exact file rather than a prestige shoot unrelated to it. The card should promise the video the reader will actually open.
The next Rocky file should be judged by whether increased control produces a sharper song, not merely more visible credits. Independence is most persuasive when rhythm, staging and release strategy point toward the same idea. The profile will keep updating exact work rather than treating company ownership as the ending.
That continuing audit matters because a self-directed career can change quickly. Each official release will be tested for music, movement, authorship, date, source and participant routing instead of receiving automatic praise for independence.
The result should sound and move like a decision, not merely like proof that the former member remained busy after leaving.
The work stays accountable.
