Collision
Naruto and Sasuke finally meet after adults shaped both paths to power, but no technique can settle whether rescue preserves agency or becomes another form of control.
Bottom line
“Collision” brings Naruto and Sasuke together after adults have spent several episodes shaping their access to power. Jiraiya taught Naruto Sage training but also loosened the Nine-Tails seal. Orochimaru brands Sasuke with the Cursed Seal of Heaven while Danzō’s Root agents attack everyone trying to interrupt. Naruto reaches the tower only after Neji and Shikamaru remain behind against Konoha shinobi. He finds Sasuke already screaming under Orochimaru’s mark. Their argument becomes Rasenshuriken against Kirin, then Nine-Tails chakra against a dark Chidori. Neither amount of force can settle whether Sasuke is free or manipulated. Itachi’s crow clone throws himself into Sasuke’s final attack and appears to die protecting his brother. Sasuke awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan through the loss and walks away while Naruto lies unconscious. The episode’s title names more than two techniques meeting. Love collides with control, rescue collides with agency, and two forms of borrowed power collide while the adults who enabled them remain outside the blast.
The tower is a manufactured point of no return
Danzō chooses the location, Root controls the road, and Orochimaru waits inside with the mark prepared. Sasuke walks there by choice, but other people decide which voices can reach him before that choice becomes bodily.
A decision does not become fully free because nobody physically carries the person through the door. Manipulation can build the door, remove every safer exit, and attack anyone arriving with inconvenient information.
Neji’s stand completes Team Guy’s shared promise
Lee and Tenten already stayed behind. Neji now accepts the final blockade so Naruto can enter. The team does not treat sacrifice as the destiny of one designated body. Each member assesses the need and claims a role.
That is the opposite of the Hyūga branch system that once assigned Hizashi’s life through birth. Choice cannot erase danger, but it prevents hierarchy from pretending another person’s body was always available.
Shikamaru creates space instead of chasing credit
He stops Sai at the entrance knowing the central confrontation will happen without him. Strategic leadership often looks like surrendering the scene everybody will remember.
Shikamaru understands that Naruto needs time more than applause. His work is successful if Sasuke hears another voice, even if nobody inside the tower witnesses who kept that route open.
Naruto and Sasuke reach for dangerous shortcuts together
Sasuke accepts Orochimaru’s seal because ordinary progress feels insufficient. Naruto reaches for the Nine-Tails because Yamato’s restraint makes ordinary strength too slow. Each boy tells himself urgency justifies borrowed power.
Their motives differ. Naruto wants to stop a friend from being consumed. Sasuke wants superiority. Yet both bodies become battlegrounds for forces adults introduced and failed to contain.
Sasuke’s scream interrupts Naruto better than suppression
Yamato has the specialized technique and still cannot stop the fifth tail. Hearing Sasuke’s pain gives Naruto the reason that raw restraint lacks. He remembers the person behind the mission and forces the chakra down.
Connection succeeds where control fails, but the episode refuses an easy celebration. Naruto needed to approach catastrophic transformation before the bond could call him back.
Orochimaru calls violation training
The cursed seal enters through agony and immediately changes Sasuke’s access to power. Consent to meet a dangerous teacher is not blanket consent to every bodily intervention that follows.
Orochimaru benefits from keeping the terms vague. Once pain begins, survival and ambition become tangled. Sasuke can interpret endurance as commitment because admitting exploitation would threaten the entire reason he left.
Rescue must make room for refusal without abandoning danger
Naruto cannot simply declare that care gives him ownership of Sasuke’s future. Sasuke also cannot invoke agency as a shield against every person naming manipulation. The hard work lives between those positions.
A responsible rescue interrupts immediate predation, preserves life, and restores access to information. It does not demand permanent gratitude or pretend that forcing somebody home completes the emotional repair.
Rasenshuriken and Kirin cannot answer an ethical question
The techniques measure control, preparation, elemental advantage, and destructive capacity. They cannot determine whether Orochimaru’s offer is freedom, whether Naruto has listened well enough, or whether Sasuke owes Konoha a return.
Once conversation becomes an attack contest, the stronger impact receives authority it never earned. A crater can end debate without proving anybody right.
Itachi refuses to let rivalry decide who survives
His crow clone enters the collision because both boys have stopped building an exit. He uses his body as interruption, not as a prize awarded to the worthier brother.
The act protects Naruto and Sasuke, but it also leaves Sasuke believing his own hand killed Itachi. Saving the body without preparing the truth creates another wound Orochimaru can exploit.
The Mangekyō makes grief look productive
Sasuke receives extraordinary power at the instant he believes love has been destroyed. That timing teaches a vicious lesson: attachment matters because losing it upgrades the survivor.
Fandom should resist romanticizing the exchange. Itachi is not valuable because his apparent death improves Sasuke’s eyes. The new ability is evidence of trauma, not compensation adequate to the relationship lost.
Its spectacle matters because the ethics underneath remain painfully unresolved.
RaeRae’s verdict
“Collision” gives us enormous techniques, but the ugliest power belongs to the adults who arranged which children would meet, what they would know, and what would already be inside their bodies. Danzō clears the road. Orochimaru brands Sasuke. Root delays the rescue. Jiraiya’s seal work leaves Naruto with access to a transformation that nearly erases him. The boys choose, but they do not choose on an empty field.
Naruto is right that Orochimaru’s path threatens Sasuke’s freedom. He is not automatically right about every method used to bring Sasuke back. Sasuke is right that his future belongs to him. He is not free merely because a manipulator persuaded him to reject everyone else. Itachi’s intervention prevents the immediate catastrophe and creates another one through misunderstood loss. Nobody wins this collision. The episode leaves bodies alive, trust damaged, and predators holding more leverage than they had before the first attack.
Episode 446 stays inside the alternate manuscript
Episode 446 continues Jiraiya’s anime-original “Shinobi Handbook” story within Tsunade’s Infinite Tsukuyomi dream. The Japanese title is “Shōtotsu,” meaning “Collision.” The episode aired in Japan on January 28, 2016.
The manuscript reshapes familiar turning points around a living Itachi, Danzō’s direct involvement, and Naruto’s earlier Sage training.
Naruto and Shikamaru reach the tower
Lee and Tenten bought enough time for the forward team to approach Sasuke’s destination. The tower marks the place where Danzō promised Orochimaru’s power would begin.
Reaching the structure does not mean the pursuit has caught up with the plan.
Neji takes the remaining pursuers
Two Root operatives continue closing behind them. Neji stays back so Naruto and Shikamaru can move ahead.
Team Guy has now divided itself across three delaying battles for one shared rescue.
Neji chooses the burden himself
The Hyūga system once assigned sacrifice according to birth. Neji now decides where his skill is most useful.
The risk remains severe, but choice changes the moral meaning of the stand.
Anko reveals the ink deception
Anko shows that one apparent fighter is an ink clone. Root has layered the pursuit with false bodies and hidden identities.
Every moment spent identifying the real attacker serves Danzō’s delay.
Sai watches from an ink bird
Another operative circles above on a drawn bird. The aerial position keeps him mobile and gives Root a view across the divided pursuers.
The team must fight a surveillance network, not only individual opponents.
Neji engages Anko
Neji uses the Byakugan and Gentle Fist against a shinobi whose mask Naruto already removed. Recognition does not end the conflict.
Anko remains committed to Root’s order even after secrecy around her identity fails.
Shikamaru confronts Sai at the entrance
Shikamaru stays near the tower’s lower access to stop Sai from following Naruto. Strategy becomes physical containment.
He gives Naruto the only resource Root cannot recover once spent: uninterrupted time.
Naruto enters alone
The group pursuit narrows to one person climbing toward Sasuke. Every friend left behind removes another layer of tactical support.
Isolation is dangerous, but turning back would waste every choice that made the opening possible.
Sasuke reaches Orochimaru first
Danzō’s operation succeeds at the most important stage. Sasuke stands before Orochimaru without Team 7 present to challenge the offer.
The meeting looks voluntary because violence kept competing relationships outside.
Sasuke asks for power directly
He does not request perspective, discipline, or another method. He wants the strength needed to defeat Naruto.
Orochimaru receives a student who has already reduced his future to one comparison.
Orochimaru applies the Cursed Seal of Heaven
The mark enters Sasuke’s body through pain. New power begins as violation disguised as initiation.
Sasuke consented to danger without understanding how the seal will shape desire, chakra, and dependence.
The scream exposes the price
Sasuke cries out as the mark takes hold. The sound reaches beyond the private chamber.
Orochimaru’s lesson starts by teaching the body that power and agony belong together.
Yamato captures Naruto during the climb
A Root operative identified as Yamato restrains Naruto before he reaches Sasuke. His Wood Release is especially suited to controlling tailed-beast chakra.
Danzō placed the correct countermeasure on the route rather than trusting ordinary pursuit.
Naruto reaches for the Nine-Tails
Unable to break free through normal strength, Naruto channels the sealed chakra. Urgency makes the dangerous shortcut feel necessary.
The same logic brought Sasuke to Orochimaru.
Four tails emerge again
Naruto’s body enters the catastrophic state that nearly killed Jiraiya. The transformation provides force while erasing judgment.
Rescuing Sasuke becomes impossible if Naruto arrives unable to recognize him.
Yamato attempts suppression
Wood Release should restrain the chakra and return Naruto to control. The technique fails as the transformation continues.
Root prepared for a known danger and still underestimated Naruto’s desperation.
A fifth tail begins forming
The escalation moves beyond the previous disaster. Naruto is approaching a state even Jiraiya did not safely manage.
Every friend holding Root behind him becomes vulnerable if the transformed Naruto turns back.
Sasuke’s pain reaches Naruto
The scream from Orochimaru’s chamber cuts through the Nine-Tails frenzy. Concern for Sasuke gives Naruto a reason to recover himself.
The bond Root tried to block becomes the anchor that defeats Root’s strongest restraint.
Naruto forces the chakra back
He breaks the transformation before the fifth tail completes. The released chakra knocks Yamato aside and frees the route.
Control does not come from greater rage. Naruto remembers why he needed power.
Sasuke’s rescue begins after the branding
Naruto reaches him too late to prevent the cursed seal. The mission changes from stopping contact to stopping deeper surrender.
Partial failure does not make continued rescue meaningless.
Naruto tries words before the final clash
He argues that Sasuke is walking into manipulation and asks him to return. Sasuke hears another person claiming authority over his choice.
The conversation carries care and pressure at the same time.
Sasuke defines power as freedom
Orochimaru offers strength beyond Fugaku, Kakashi, and the police force. Sasuke interprets that access as escape from every judgment that made him feel small.
The curse mark reveals that his new freedom already has an owner.
Orochimaru watches their bond as research
The Sannin observes Naruto’s arrival and Sasuke’s response. Their emotional collision gives him information about both students.
He does not need Sasuke to stop caring about Naruto. Rivalry can make the vessel easier to direct.
Naruto enters Sage Mode
A prepared shadow clone has gathered nature energy, allowing Naruto to shift into Sage Mode during the fight. The technique reflects patience completed elsewhere.
Unlike the Nine-Tails eruption, Sage power depends on balance.
Sage training briefly changes the contest
Naruto’s perception, speed, and force rise sharply. Orochimaru becomes interested in the result of Jiraiya’s teaching.
The mode also fades quickly, showing that advanced power still carries limits.
Sasuke prepares the sky for Kirin
He sends Fire Release upward to create the conditions for a lightning storm. Kirin uses natural lightning guided toward a chosen target.
The attack demonstrates planning beyond a simple burst of anger.
Rasenshuriken meets Kirin
Naruto answers with wind power shaped into the Rasenshuriken. The techniques collide as proof of three years spent apart.
Their scale turns a personal argument into environmental destruction.
Greater technique does not create a better answer
Neither attack can prove whether Sasuke should return or whether Naruto understands him. Power can stop a body and still fail to reach a decision.
The boys use techniques because conversation threatens identities they built in separation.
Sasuke lands a severe strike
He breaks through and wounds Naruto. The physical advantage gives him another chance to leave.
Naruto remains focused on explaining why the pursuit matters.
Naruto names the bond behind the chase
He tells Sasuke that their connection cannot be discarded as easily as a rank or team assignment. The effort to recover him comes from years of mutual recognition.
Naruto refuses to call Sasuke’s self-destruction independence.
Rescue becomes dangerous when listening ends
Naruto’s devotion is genuine, yet continued escalation risks killing the person he wants to save. Sasuke’s refusal is genuine, yet shaped by Danzō and Orochimaru.
The episode offers no clean boundary between persistence and force.
Naruto channels the fox again
After Sage Mode fades and Sasuke wounds him, Naruto returns to Nine-Tails chakra. The dangerous source remains his fastest path to equal strength.
Control is better than during the fifth-tail surge, but hostility still fuels the exchange.
Sasuke forms a dark Chidori
The cursed seal changes the lightning technique Kakashi taught him. A legitimate lesson now carries Orochimaru’s corruption.
The visual transformation makes the new influence impossible to deny.
Rasengan and Chidori repeat an old argument
The boys charge with techniques connected to their teachers and rivalry. The collision promises a final verdict neither technique can honestly provide.
Old bonds are being used to sever a current bond.
Itachi appears between them
An Itachi crow clone suddenly enters the attack’s path. His arrival interrupts a choice that could kill Naruto or Sasuke.
The older brother makes his body the boundary neither boy would create.
Itachi takes Sasuke’s attack
He throws himself into the dark Chidori and appears to die protecting Sasuke from the consequence of the clash. The act gives Sasuke recognition through unbearable loss.
Itachi chooses his brother’s life without demanding that Sasuke earn the sacrifice.
The intervention stops the collision and deepens the wound
Naruto survives, but Sasuke sees his own attack kill the person he spent years trying to surpass. Rescue and tragedy arrive in the same instant.
The emotional result serves Orochimaru even if Orochimaru did not stage every detail.
Sasuke awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan
Trauma transforms his eyes. The power he wanted appears through the apparent death of the brother whose approval shaped his life.
Loss becomes another advancement, teaching Sasuke that strength always demands someone he loves.
Naruto falls unconscious
The fight and chakra use leave Naruto unable to continue. His promise to Sakura remains unfinished on the ground.
Determination cannot replace the body’s limits.
Sasuke walks away
He leaves the ruined battlefield with Mangekyō awakened. The intervention saved lives without persuading him to return.
Grief now drives him farther along the path Danzō opened.
Orochimaru gains a more vulnerable student
Sasuke arrives seeking strength and leaves the collision carrying guilt, loss, and new ocular power. Each wound increases the mentor’s leverage.
Orochimaru benefits when Sasuke believes pain is the only honest teacher.
Itachi’s apparent death changes every relationship
Fugaku loses the son he trusted most. Sasuke believes his own technique killed his brother. Konoha loses a crucial bridge to the Uchiha.
The private clash threatens the political stability Minato tried to protect through secrecy.
The adults built the conditions for catastrophe
Danzō arranged access to Orochimaru. Orochimaru branded Sasuke. Jiraiya normalized dangerous access to tailed-beast chakra. Root isolated Naruto.
Naruto and Sasuke make their choices inside a field adults deliberately shaped.
Responsibility remains shared without becoming equal
Sasuke chose to leave and attack. Naruto chose to escalate. Those choices matter.
Danzō and Orochimaru acted with greater information, authority, and intent to exploit. Their responsibility is larger because their freedom was larger.
The title names systems colliding through children
Root, the Uchiha police legacy, Orochimaru’s forbidden research, Jiraiya’s training, and Team 7’s bond all meet through Naruto and Sasuke’s bodies.
The spectacular attacks are the visible edge of conflicts created long before the tower.
Episode 446 ends with unanswered death
Naruto cannot continue, Sasuke leaves with Mangekyō, and Itachi appears dead. The audience sees consequence before receiving a full explanation of the crow clone.
Episode 447, “Another Moon,” must follow Sasuke’s grief and the truth hidden behind the sacrifice.
RaeRae’s call
Naruto and Sasuke do not settle freedom through Rasenshuriken, Kirin, Rasengan, or Chidori. Danzō and Orochimaru shaped the encounter before either boy arrived. Naruto’s rescue remains necessary because bodily possession is not a lesson Sasuke should have to survive alone. That necessity does not give Naruto permanent ownership of Sasuke’s choices. Itachi stops the lethal answer with his own body, and the misunderstood sacrifice gives Orochimaru fresh grief to weaponize. Saving someone is the beginning of restored agency, not the end of the argument.

What I am carrying forward
Neji and Shikamaru remained behind against Root while Naruto reached Orochimaru’s tower. Sasuke accepted the Cursed Seal of Heaven. Naruto nearly formed a fifth Nine-Tails tail before Sasuke’s scream helped him regain control.
Rasenshuriken met Kirin, then dark Chidori met Nine-Tails Rasengan. Itachi’s crow clone entered the attack and appeared to die by Sasuke’s hand. Sasuke awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan and left Naruto unconscious. Episode 447, “Another Moon,” follows the grief and the hidden truth behind that intervention.
