NOWZ “EVERGLOW” React: The Rebrand Finally Sounded Like a New Beginning
EVERGLOW is where the NOWADAYS-to-NOWZ reset stops looking like typography and starts sounding like intent. The song keeps its light on, but the group finally has enough friction to stop the optimism from floating away.

Released: July 9, 2025

Artist / channel: NOWZ / NOWZ 나우즈 (Official YouTube Channel)
Exact-file focus: Official EVERGLOW music video.
Bottom line:
“EVERGLOW” is the first NOWZ title track that sounds unwilling to return to NOWADAYS. EL CAPITXN and the Vendors team give the five members an alternative-rock frame with enough metal pressure to make resurrection feel costly. Hyeonbin, Yoon, Yeonwoo, Jinhyuk and Siyun sing about getting up from ash, and the arrangement lets the guitars scrape before the chorus opens.
The MV commits to ruin, fire and physical struggle, though its symbolism occasionally shouts the lyric back at us. I do not need another slow-motion spark every time the song says burn. What carries the file is the members’ conviction. NOWZ look less like rookies demonstrating a concept and more like five people who argued their way into a sound.

A rebrand needs an audible before and after
NOWADAYS arrived with bright hip-hop energy and a name that already sounded temporary. NOWZ could have been the same group with a shorter search term. “EVERGLOW” creates the missing dividing line. Guitars scrape, drums carry heavier consequence, and the members sound less concerned with introducing themselves politely.
The change does not reject everything before it. Youth remains the subject. The difference is that youth now contains pressure, failure and the choice to stand up while still scorched.
The guitar is not costume jewelry
K-pop loves attaching one distorted chord to a programmed track and announcing a rock era. “EVERGLOW” lets guitar affect the song’s body. The texture roughens transitions, pushes against the vocals and adds danger before the chorus releases.
The metal weight is controlled rather than chaotic. I wanted one section to let the guitars become genuinely ugly, but the arrangement still uses them as structure instead of decoration.
The chorus rises because the verse lets the heart cool first
The opening describes a heart cooling and a smile worn like a lie. Production stays compressed, holding energy under the voice. When the chorus opens, brightness feels recovered rather than gifted.
That emotional engineering makes the hook work. “Everglow” is not a permanent state. It is the light somebody has to restart after pressure nearly extinguishes it.
Hyeonbin makes leadership look like resistance
Hyeonbin grounds the performance with a settled stance and direct gaze. He does not present resilience as a speech. His body looks braced against force, which gives the group’s eventual upward movement a believable starting point.
Yoon gives the rock frame a melodic center
Yoon’s voice carries the chorus without smoothing away its strain. His clearer tone creates light against the rough instrumental surface. The contrast keeps the song from becoming five men yelling encouragement over guitar.
Yeonwoo turns five bodies into one recovery
Yeonwoo’s formation instincts matter whenever the choreography changes level or direction. He makes transitions read as collective momentum, not five separate men hitting the same counts. In a resurrection song, synchronized recovery is the visual thesis.
Jinhyuk writes from inside the pressure
Jinhyuk’s lyric credit prevents the anxiety from feeling entirely assigned. His lower attack and sharper movement give the verses weight, and his performance suggests anger sitting underneath the determination. Hope sounds better when somebody admits what made it necessary.
Siyun refuses the inspirational-poster version of youth
Siyun also contributed lyrics, bringing the youngest member into a song about pressure and adulthood. His rap energy cuts through the polished uplift. He sounds impatient with the idea that resilience should be graceful.
The choreography keeps falling before it rises
Level changes, folded postures and sudden upward drives make recovery physical. The group does not stand tall for three minutes and call that perseverance. Bodies absorb impact, lose shape and rebuild formation.
The strongest moments let one member rise while the others remain lower, then pull the full picture upward. Individual will becomes collective ignition.
The fire imagery works until the third reminder
Ash, sparks and industrial ruin give the MV immediate stakes. The palette makes every surviving patch of light visible. Early images feel tactile enough that I can almost smell metal and smoke.
Then the video repeats the fire metaphor past the point of discovery. We understand ignition. A stranger image could have deepened the idea: something growing where fire should have sterilized the ground, or a quiet room showing what survival costs after the flames leave.
The camera gives performance enough room to bruise
Wide shots preserve group weight, while closer frames capture the strain in faces. Camera movement follows impact more often than it manufactures excitement. That restraint lets the heavier choreography land.
A few rapid cuts during the final chorus sacrifice footwork for visual heat. The dancers have already built the climax. Trust them long enough to finish it.
IGNITION makes the name change more than paperwork
The mini album places “EVERGLOW” beside “Fly to the Youth,” “Problem Child,” “Louder” and “DAY_AND.” Those tracks explore different textures while keeping youth, pressure and member participation in view. NOWZ sounds like a direction rather than a correction.
Cube still has to sustain that direction. One strong comeback does not guarantee a coherent career. The group have supplied a musical identity worth protecting; management now has fewer excuses for wandering.
The name collision is annoying and survivable
Calling the song “EVERGLOW” guarantees confusion with the established girl group. Search results, headlines and casual conversation will keep tripping over the overlap. That is not the members’ fault, but somebody in the room should have considered discoverability.
The record earns its title emotionally. I still wish the release team had given a strong song one fewer obstacle.
What changed every time I replayed it
First replay, the guitar shift and Yoon’s chorus carried everything. Second replay, Jinhyuk and Siyun’s written participation made the verses feel more personal. Third replay, Yeonwoo’s formation work and Hyeonbin’s grounded posture clarified the recovery arc.
On the fourth pass, the repeated fire imagery bothered me more while the song’s structure impressed me more. The MV sometimes explains too loudly. The recording trusts pressure, contrast and five voices to make the point.

Lyrics and meaning
The lyric makes “everglow” a promise to keep generating light after the easy confidence runs out. It is not a claim that nothing hurts. It is a decision that fear, distance, and a changed name do not get the final word.
RaeRae verdict
NOWZ work because Hyeonbin, Yoon, Yeonwoo, Jinhyuk, and Siyun do not treat a concept as rented clothing. They argue with it, bend it around five different performance instincts, and make the group identity clearer on replay. That is the part CUBE needs to protect instead of assuming a good song can promote itself.
