Jinni Left NMIXX Without a Scandal Explanation, and the Silence Became the Story
Nine months after debut, JYP announced that Jinni had left both NMIXX and the company for “personal circumstances.” No public scandal explanation followed. Fandom filled the vacuum anyway.

Status: Departure confirmed; reason remains private
Announcement: December 9, 2022
Later public career: solo debut as Jini in October 2023
Who: Jinni/Jini · NMIXX · JYP Entertainment
What JYP actually said
JYP announced that Jinni was leaving NMIXX and terminating her exclusive contract because of personal circumstances. The company asked fans to support both the six continuing members and Jinni’s future path. That is the complete official reason available to the public.
The timeline
- February 22, 2022: Jinni debuted as one of seven NMIXX members.
- December 9, 2022: JYP announced her departure from NMIXX and the company.
- April 2023: she signed with ATOC under UAP management.
- October 11, 2023: Jini debuted solo with An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove.
What the silence did not prove
It did not prove a secret pregnancy, bullying case, dating punishment, family emergency or company conspiracy. Those theories circulated because “personal circumstances” gave fans nothing to resolve. Repetition is not corroboration.
Her ability to return as a soloist does not retroactively reveal why the NMIXX contract ended. It only proves that a later agency and artist built a new plan.
What changed for NMIXX
The group became six, redistributed parts and choreography, and continued into expérgo. The departure altered the visual balance and removed a strong dancer, but it did not freeze the group in December 2022. Both careers moved forward.
Why the fandom kept trying to solve it
Jinni had trained for years, appeared in the first JYPn reveal and held a visible dance position. Leaving nine months after debut did not look like an ordinary contract expiration. The timing created a real question. The absence of a public answer then encouraged fans to treat every coincidence as a clue.
That impulse is understandable and still unreliable. A sudden departure can involve health, family, contract disagreements, personal choices or facts that never become public. Listing possibilities is not the same as identifying the reason. The responsible file separates the confirmed timeline from the emotional discomfort of not knowing.
Jini’s solo return closed one chapter, not the mystery
Her 2023 return under the stage name Jini confirmed that she still wanted a public music career. An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove gave her a new agency, sound and visual identity. It did not function as a coded press conference about JYP.
Fans sometimes argue that a later debut disproves any serious problem. It proves only that a later working relationship became possible. Contracts end for many reasons, and private reasons do not become public property because an artist returns to Instagram.
The six-member group should not be written as a permanent aftermath
NMIXX had to rebuild quickly, but the current lineup has now spent far longer as six than the original lineup spent as seven. Profiles should preserve Jinni’s place in the debut history without describing every later achievement as something that happened after she left. Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo and Kyujin are not a damaged remainder. Jini is not a forbidden footnote. Two active careers can exist without fandom assigning a villain.
Receipts
The receipt trail uses JYP’s December 9 statement and the later official solo-debut record. Claims beyond those sources remain labeled as speculation rather than upgraded by fandom volume.
RaeRae take
The unsatisfying answer is still the honest one: we do not know. Fans can miss Jinni, follow Jini and discuss how the lineup changed without appointing themselves detectives over a private reason. Sometimes the blank space stays blank.
