What it is

Short Regencies, bought in a batch

This is an independently published Regency series built around the Wetherby family and the women who marry into it. The books are short by the standards of the shelf, closer to novella length than to the Sarah MacLean or Jo Beverley end of things, and they were written and released quickly across the early 2010s.

The series ran to seven books in total. The first four are all on this shelf, along with two companion volumes, which is the interesting part: buying the second epilogues means somebody finished the books and wanted more of the couples afterwards. That is a specific kind of enjoyment and it is worth recording, because nothing else on the shelf shows it this plainly.

Series length is disputed. This page says seven books, taken from a series bibliography, and names three later titles. Amazon’s own series metadata for these editions says six. Both cannot be right and neither has been confirmed authoritative, so the count below is left as it was and the disagreement is recorded rather than quietly resolved. The first four are on the shelf either way.
Numbering note: publication order and series numbering do not match here, which is common for indie series released out of sequence. Book three, The Wary Widow, came out before book two. The order below is series order, not publication date.

The run

Seven books, the first four owned

Book one · ownedA Gentleman Never TellsThe first of the run and the one that establishes the family. Published 2009.
Book two · ownedMore Than a GovernessA governess plot, which in this period means a woman inside the household but outside the family, and the whole tension of the book is that gap.
Book three · ownedThe Wary WidowReleased before book two despite its number. Recorded on the shelf as a standalone, which is why it was first missed here; it is book three of this series and the owner has it.
Book four · ownedThe Bedeviled BridePublished 2011. The last of the numbered novels on this shelf.
Books five to seven · not ownedThe Perfect Kiss · The Temptation of the Duke · How to Care for a LadyThe series continued to 2016. None of the later three are here.

The companions

The two extras, which say more than the novels

CompanionWetherby Brides Short StoriesA collected set of shorts set in the same world, sold separately from the numbered novels.
CompanionThe Wetherby Brides: Second EpiloguesAdditional endings for couples whose books already ended. The Julia Quinn model, go back to a finished couple years later and show the marriage. Buying these is a signal about how the series landed.

Second epilogues only exist because readers ask for them, and they only sell to readers who already finished and stayed attached. Their presence on this shelf tells you more about how these books were received here than any review would.

Coverage

What is not known here

This is the thinnest hub on the shelf, and it is thin for a reason worth stating. Independently published series from this period are barely catalogued. There is no plot summary available for any of these books from a reliable source, no cover image that any of the cover services here can return, and no reception record beyond scattered retailer ratings. The publication years and the series order are verifiable. Almost nothing else is.

So this page does not describe what happens in these books, because that would mean inventing it. What it does instead is record accurately what is on the shelf, what is missing from it, and what the purchase pattern shows, which is a real finding even when the plots are not available.

No covers. Open Library holds only low-resolution thumbnails, the Google Books service is over its daily quota from this address, and the Barnes & Noble image host refuses direct requests. The owner’s own library listing does display covers for all six, and pulling them from there remains the fastest fix if this series should have art.
