Career

From SM Rookies to NCT

Jaehyun was introduced through SM Rookies before joining the original NCT U debut cycle in 2016. “The 7th Sense” placed him inside one of K-pop’s strangest opening statements, while “Without You” showed the project could also lean into band-shaped vocal pop. That contrast became useful preparation for a career where the same singer moves between experimental hip-hop, sleek R&B, pop and ballad work.

He debuted with NCT 127 in 2016 and became one of the group’s most recognizable vocal colors. His tone anchors songs such as “Limitless,” “Regular,” “Superhuman,” “Kick It,” “Sticker,” “Favorite,” “Fact Check” and “Walk.” The group’s aggressive production often makes his restraint more noticeable. Try Again and the slow-build years

“Try Again,” his collaboration with d.ear, became an early demonstration of how little Jaehyun needs to sell a feeling. NCT LAB: Forever Only and Horizon

Jaehyun’s baritone is often described as smooth, but smooth is only the surface. The useful detail is weight. His lower register gives a track density without making it feel slow, while the breath in his upper lines keeps polished production from becoming sterile. He favors phrasing that sounds spoken into melody, especially in R&B material.
