ARTIST + MEMBER PROFILE
Yuta
Yuta is NCT 127’s Osaka-born vocalist, dancer, actor and solo rock artist. He spent years adding sharp edges to songs built from electronic tension, then used his Japanese solo work to stop hinting at the guitars and finally turn them all the way up.

Career
From Osaka to SM Rookies
Yuta moved from Japan into SM’s Korean trainee system and was introduced through SM Rookies before NCT launched. The transition demanded language, dance, vocal and media training while he was also becoming one of the first Japanese artists positioned at the center of an SM Korean boy group.
NCT 127
He debuted in NCT 127 in July 2016. Across “Limitless,” “Cherry Bomb,” “Kick It,” “Favorite,” “Fact Check,” “Walk” and the 2026 BLINGY rollout, his role expanded beyond a single official position. His voice adds bite, his dance lines are clean without looking careful and his stage presence increasingly carries the rock intensity that later became explicit in his solo catalog.
NCT U and project work
Yuta has appeared in NCT U combinations and NCT-wide projects. Those credits explain the full career, but they do not turn into solo tracker entries. The NCT Umbrella Project Hub keeps every unit from climbing into the wrong filing cabinet.
Solo career
DEPTH and Off The Mask
Yuta’s formal Japanese solo debut arrived with DEPTH in 2024. “Off The Mask” made the thesis immediate: distorted guitars, theatrical darkness, physical performance and a voice allowed to rasp, strain and attack instead of remaining one color inside a large vocal stack.
The project did not feel like a group member borrowing a genre for one photo shoot. Rock was already visible in his taste, live performances and acting image. DEPTH gave it a catalog.
TWISTED PARADISE, EMBER and expansion
“TWISTED PARADISE” continued the Japanese solo path with a larger, more volatile frame. “EMBER” extended that identity into 2025. By the later PERSONA and full-album era, the solo work had become a parallel career rather than a one-release experiment.
Voice and performance
Yuta’s solo voice is strongest when polish and abrasion coexist. He can carry a melodic line cleanly, then let the edge enter at the exact point where the lyric needs friction. On stage, he favors direct movement, sustained eye contact and the confidence to let stillness become threatening.
Inside NCT 127, those qualities help sell experimental pop. In solo rock, they become the organizing principle. The genre change does not create a different artist. It removes the crowd around traits that were already there.
Acting, screen work and fashion
Yuta expanded into acting through Japanese film and television work, including the High & Low franchise. His screen persona often uses the same controlled danger visible in his music performances. Fashion editorials and ambassador work similarly lean into a sharper, less traditionally polished image.
Acting does not qualify him for the Artists directory. The independent solo music does. Both careers belong in the biography because fans do not experience him as separate database rows.
