Produce 48 and becoming IZ*ONE’s center

Wonyoung entered Mnet’s Produce 48 in 2018 as a Starship trainee. She finished first in the live finale on her fourteenth birthday and became the center of IZ*ONE.

IZ*ONE debuted that October and promoted across Korea and Japan until April 2021. The role gave Wonyoung intense public visibility while she was still a teenager: center positions, television appearances, brand attention and the pressure of representing a project group built from public voting.

Rede debut with IVE

After IZ*ONE ended, Wonyoung returned to Starship and was announced as a member of IVE. The group debuted with “ELEVEN” on December 1, 2021.

IVE did not simply recreate her old center role. The six-member lineup spreads focal points across songs and concepts. Wonyoung remains one of its most recognizable faces, but the group’s success depends on the chemistry between Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz and Leeseo.

What Wonyoung contributes

Songwriting and individual music

Wonyoung has lyric credits on IVE material including “Mine,” “Shine With Me,” “OTT” and “Blue Heart.” Those songs expand the group’s familiar confidence into private reflection, romance and commentary on the pressure placed on highly visible women.

In 2026, IVE’s REVIVE+ era also gave the members individual material, adding another layer to how Wonyoung’s voice and writing function outside the six-member blend.

Music Bank and television work

Wonyoung served as a Music Bank MC from 2021 into early 2023, first alongside ENHYPEN’s Sunghoon and later actor Lee Chae-min. The role required weekly live presenting, artist interviews and special stages while IVE’s own promotions accelerated.

Her television strength is composure. She rarely looks surprised by a camera, which is useful in live broadcasting and also explains why tiny facial expressions or gestures are repeatedly clipped and recirculated online.

Fashion, advertising and public image

Wonyoung has worked across fashion, beauty, jewelry, food and consumer-brand campaigns. Her partnerships have included major domestic and international labels, while her airport appearances and event styling generate their own news cycle.

That visibility also produces disproportionate scrutiny. Normal changes in weight, posture, speech, friendships or facial expression are often treated as evidence in a public argument she did not start. A complete profile has to record the influence without pretending the surrounding fixation is healthy.

Two group careers, one continuous public education

Wonyoung entered Produce 48 in 2018 as a Starship trainee and finished first, becoming the center of IZ*ONE at fourteen. The project group debuted with “La Vie en Rose” and built a Korean-Japanese catalog before its planned conclusion in April 2021. Calling her only a former IZ*ONE member misses the scale of that first career; calling IZ*ONE a permanent current group ignores the contract structure that defined it.

Starship redebuted Wonyoung with IVE on December 1, 2021. The six-member lineup of An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo was not marketed as an IZ*ONE continuation. “ELEVEN,” “LOVE DIVE,” and “After LIKE” established a new group identity built around self-possession and melodic hooks. Wonyoung arrived with center experience, but she still had to learn a different vocal distribution, member balance, and leadership structure.

Her directory tenure therefore begins with IVE in 2021. IZ*ONE belongs in the biography and former-group fields, while the visible card uses Current member, 2021–present for the active group being indexed.

Songwriting is no longer a decorative footnote

Wonyoung’s writing credits complicate the idea that her role is purely visual. She contributed lyrics to “Mine” and “Shine With Me” on I’ve IVE, later extending her credit trail through IVE material including the 2026 pre-release “Bang Bang.” A lyric credit should be checked against album credits rather than copied from fan role lists, but once verified it belongs near the center of the career file.

Writing for IVE means working inside the group’s established language of confidence, desire, and public self-definition. Her perspective is especially relevant because she has lived under unusually intense observation since adolescence. That does not make every lyric autobiographical, but it explains why questions of control, attitude, and the public gaze recur around her work.

2025 and IVE SECRET

IVE released IVE EMPATHY in February 2025 with “REBEL HEART” and “ATTITUDE,” then returned in August with the fourth mini album IVE SECRET and “XOXZ.” The two projects let the group move between solidarity, self-confidence, and a more coded romantic frame without abandoning the polished pop scale that made its early singles recognizable.

Wonyoung continued group touring, fashion campaigns, brand appearances, and individual schedules around those releases. Profiles should distinguish visibility from authorship: a campaign can prove influence and commercial demand, but music credits, hosting, modeling, and ambassadorships remain different categories of work.

2026: REVIVE+, “8,” and the current IVE chapter

IVE released the pre-release single “Bang Bang” on February 9, 2026, with Wonyoung participating in the lyrics. The second studio album REVIVE+ followed on February 23 with “BLACKHOLE” as its title track. The twelve-track record also includes “8,” a Wonyoung solo song. That track belongs to her individual music file and the IVE album at the same time; it does not require inventing a separate group or duplicating the member profile.

An album solo gives her room to carry a complete vocal and performance narrative rather than one section of a six-member arrangement. It also provides better evidence for her individual musical direction than brand visibility or assumptions based on center position. Future solo releases outside IVE should extend this same canonical page and gain a separate artist shelf only when the release structure warrants it.

As of August 2026, Wonyoung remains a current IVE member under Starship Entertainment. The lineup remains Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. Her correct directory status is Current member, 2021–present. IZ*ONE remains a completed earlier chapter, not a competing current membership.
