Early life and Produce 101
MINA represented Jellyfish Entertainment on Produce 101 and finished ninth. Her round-cheeked charm became part of her early public image, sometimes overshadowing the fact that she was a trained dancer with strong performance instincts.

August 2016 · Split schedules
The non-exclusive contract allowed agencies to place members into separate group promotions while I.O.I remained active. A seven-member unit released “Whatta Man,” proving early that active lineup and official membership were not the same thing.
October 2016 · Full-group peak
All eleven reunited for “Very Very Very” and Miss Me?. The J.Y. Park-produced title track became the era most casual listeners remember, but the album also captured how different eleven voices could coexist inside brutally bright pop.
January 2017 · Planned ending
“Downpour” and the final concert closed the original contract. The ending was administrative, public and emotionally real. KANG MINA returned to a separate agency path with the I.O.I name still attached to every future introduction.
Career after 2017
Jellyfish debuted her in gugudan during I.O.I’s original contract. After gugudan’s disbandment, she focused on acting through Hotel del Luna, Moonshine, Café Minamdang, Welcome to Samdal-ri and later projects, eventually moving to Story J Company.
The useful comparison is not “who became most successful?” Eleven careers moved through different industries, countries, contracts, group endings, solo releases and acting sets.
